I am struck with the strong and inexplicable desire of writing Izuku as a radio show host on one of those late-night talkshows and Shouto happens to be one of his listeners and often uses him and his voice as a way to calm down after dealing with the Bad Shit of his day-to-day.

Izuku talks mindlessly between switching songs that are usually soft indie punk or alternative tunes that make your brain fuzzy in a good way and Shouto likes those in between moments the best because Izuku has the perfect radio voice. It’s soft and deep, a low scratchy sound through Shouto’s headphones or phone speaker, and he always listens no matter what Izuku is rambling about in those few precious moments because it relaxes him more than any music ever could.

But the music is good, too, and on a night his heart isn’t trying to break through his chest and his hands aren’t shaking for hours at a time, he decides to look up some of the songs. Jirou works at a store that sells lesser known albums and one-hit singles and Shouto seeks out her help in finding what he can of the artists the show host goes back to most often.

He builds up a nice collection that Jirou helps him download onto his phone because a lot of the shit is so obscure it’s nearly impossible to find online and he keeps going back to the store to find more because it’s something to do and distract him from everything else.

And that’s how he comes across a certain broad-shouldered man with an undercut and a bright smile and a voice so unforgettable he could recognize it in his sleep.
