Cheddar floofin appreciation post
“I like cancelled plans. And empty bookstores. I like rainy days and thunderstorms. And quiet coffee shops. I like messy beds and over-worn pajamas. Most of all, I like the small joys that a simple life brings.”

Calmness…
A couple of years ago in one of my classes, the topic of diversity in music came up and the teacher was saying how we need more racially diverse orchestras and everything so that everyone has people to look up to, and while I agree that we need to encourage EVERYONE to go into music because music is amazing and makes your life 110% better even if you just do it as a hobby, I just don’t understand the idea of only being able to look up to people who look exactly like you do. When I was little two of my biggest heroes were Wynton Marsalis and Louis Armstrong, I didn’t care that they’re black and I’m white, I just loved their music. I know that it’s different for everyone based on their background but it’s just sad to me that people act like you’re not even allowed to have heroes who don’t look like you.
Ngl, when I was a kid I loved reading stories about girls doing things I wanted to do. But it would never have entered my mind to complain about stories with male protags.
And now that I’m older and also a writer, I have to say it can almost be MORE relatable to read (or write) about a protag of the opposite sex. It really pulls you away from yourself and your own life and thoroughly into the point of view of another person. You can’t project yourself on them in a way that’s easy and obvious, so you have to learn to understand them on another level. Only once I had done that a few times, did I realize there were female protags I could look at and say “I don’t relate to this woman at all.”
