La Diada de Sant Jordi

One of the most important catalan holidays celebrated every year on April 23rd is La Diada de Sant Jordi (Saint George). Quite similar to Valentine’s Day in the sense that roses and books are  being given away (traditionally women are given a rose while men receive a book.) The center of Barcelona is filled with stands selling roses and books. Half of the books sold every year in Catalonia are sold around Sant Jordi Day.
