My computer broke last week. Thankfully it's all fixed as of yesterday and most of my data was saved to the cloud, but I'm still in the process of getting all of my programs re-installed and trying to figure out which email/password combos I used for various sites. Bear with me while I get my stuff sorted and I'll have an estimated date for the next update later this week. I have a big backlog of messages, I'm not ignoring anyone, I'm just running a little behind schedule and I'll answer everything once I'm caught up.

"Iced mocha latte for Alan!' the barista's shrill voice calls out above the crowd of people. It's busy at your favorite bakery and coffee shop today - the hustle and bustle of the work week drawing people to treat themselves.
The line is long, as it always is, but you don't mind the wait. You had offered to get donuts this morning for the office. Spring was just around the corner, and everyone had been working hard. Why not get a little something to celebrate?
A man brushes past you a moment later, bumping into waiting customers as he rushes up to the counter to pick up his order. You would've gotten a little annoyed, but you had already ordered and were waiting for a flat of assorted donuts.
A tune floats faintly in the background, the rustling and chattering of customers making it hard to pick out the words, but you could still hum along.
"Black coffee for Yeager, donut flat for L/n!" the barista's voice comes again, and you blink in recognition as your body starts to move toward the counter.
You can't quite make out your flat of donuts or the supposed coffee coming for the other customer, so you stop just in front of the counter with a pleasant smile. The barista had disappeared into the back, presumably grabbing what she had just called.
A moment passes and you can feel a presence beside you. You can't help but glance over at the stranger, and the first thing you notice is the height he has over you.
His figure is tall, lean, but still fairly muscled despite being covered in a tan trench coat. The man had a youthful glint to his bright blue eyes, his hair a sandy blonde, and his face dusted with blonde scruff.
He was cute.
Instantly, you pull your gaze away, just to catch sight of the barista returning from the ovens in the back, flat of donuts in tow. Another barista was coming from the left, a cup of coffee in her hands.
Both girls were rushing, trying to be as efficient as possible, but they weren't looking where they were going. The girls crash into each other just as you open your mouth to warn them, and you see the coffee come flying over the counter.
The lid comes flying off as the cup crashes into you, and immediately your mouth falls open in surprise as the burning hot liquid starts to seep down your shirt. Some of it splashes up your chest, dotting your neck and face, but the majority of it slides down your shirt and onto your pants, pooling on the ground by your feet.
The donuts don't manage to survive the collision either, flopping out of the first barista's hands to unceremoniously land on the floor. The entire bakery goes silent as the baristas scramble to get up, and one of them pipes, "Oh my gosh, are you okay?! I am so, so sorry!"
You can't help but blink in surprise as the hot coffee seeps into your shirt and burns at your skin. Thankfully, it's not enough to leave blisters or seriously hurt, but it rides the line of being too warm.
Carefully, you wipe at your face as you look down to assess the damage. You are drenched. You glance back at the baristas who share a look of mortification, and then around at the people in the shop who have stopped to watch the spectacle.
Heat hotter than the coffee surges over you as embarrassment floods your face and chest, eyes flitting around helplessly. Then, you feel something being gently wrapped around you.
You turn around sharply, eyes defensive when you catch sight of the blonde stranger behind you. In one swift movement, he's pulled his trench coat around your shoulders, and looking at the crowd, calls out, "Show's over, people, keep your eyes to yourself."
At the tone of his voice, the customers look away and start muttering between themselves, slowly bringing the ambiance of the shop back to life. You just watch the bearded blonde in front of you, a shy look of surprise on your face as he brings his blue gaze to meet yours.
He huffs out a sigh as he offers, "Sorry about them, are you alright?" You sniffle as you duck your head, mumbling, "Yes, thank you." Then, you stutter, "You don't need to give me your coat, Mr-" "Zeke is fine," he cuts in gently, a smirk tugging on his lips.
There's a playful edge to his voice as he states, "I think you need it more than I do at this point, miss?" You offer him a smile as you chuckle, "Y/n. And you're right, I wasn't prepared for a coffee shower this morning."
This makes him chuckle, and you can't help but think you like the way he smiles as he turns away to look at the baristas who have started to wipe off the counter and pick up the fallen donuts.
He motions to the counter and asks, "Care for another flat of donuts? I bet I can get them on the house for you. You know, for the pain and suffering of being splashed with hot coffee in the morning."
You snicker lightly at his joke, tugging the trench coat around your shoulders so it doesn't slide off. You glance over at the baristas and back to the blonde in front of you, huffing, "As long as I get a chocolate-iced donut with sprinkles!"
"There is no other kind like it," he replies, shooting you a wink as he walks up to the counter.
So maybe you would be a bit late to work, coffee on your shirt, and a donut missing from the flat. But something told you that this morning might still turn out okay.

Haha 😂 Glad you enjoyed the Goncharov reference. I just thought it would be funny if the movie actually existed in the Vendetta universe and it is one of Luka’s favorite movies (Luka can be kind of a movie nerd sometimes 😭). Although, this opens another can of worms: Does Martin Scorsese exist in Vendetta universe? 🤣
