"Watcha got there?"
"Well—"
[ Now that you mention it… ]
"That’s a good question, actually."
[ She has a point. I’m just not used to being called out in the street anymore. Having your funeral broadcast nation-wide can do that to a person. Turn them invisible. ]
"I’m a boy? No way."
Talking to her is easier than he thought it’d be. He’s not sure he’s doing it right, but then, it’s been awhile since he talked to someone who hadn’t been alive over fifty years ago.
[ It’s okay, though. I’m used to being a ghost. It’s so familiar it’s almost comfortable.
I feel bad for thinking it. Aside from Steve and Fury, no one else even knows I’m alive. I’d take it back if I could. But for now…
…all I can do is stick to the shadows. And hopefully do some good to cancel out the evil. I don’t think I’ll ever make up for the things I did. ]
[ I don’t think they’re the kinds of things you make up for. ]
“Bruce Banner, huh? I was always more of a Captain America fan myself..”
[ I can feel the minute her gaze shifts, the way my body reacts to hide it before I even know what I’m doing. I should have anticipated this. Fury’s cloaking upgrade has been on the fritz for weeks, but I’ve been too busy to ask for a tune up.
Tune up.
Like I’m some kind of car.
It almost makes me laugh. Almost. ]
[ I will myself not to pull away. She’s already seen it. Besides, she doesn’t look scared, or disgusted, or even horrified, like she’s seen some kind of ghost. She just looks…curious.
I probably don’t say this enough but… ]
"It’s real, alright."
"But it’s not mine. I’m just holding it for a friend."
[ Kids are pretty amazing. ]
"Captain America's okay. I like his colors. One time Harley said I was so tiny I'd fit in his shield for a sled. Do you think that's true?"
[ The tips of her ears turn bright red. She's six, and she might have a crush on a man who can turn into a bright green monster. Not really a monster though. ]
"It's 'cause he's really smart." [ Give her a chance to talk about Bruce Banner, and she will. Just like her brother will talk about Iron Man. And the only reason she even likes Bruce Banner in the first place is because her brother likes Iron Man, so she had to get her own superhero. ] "And my big brother's really smart. Super duper smart. Like, do you know Ironing Man?"
[ And that one's slipped out again. Sophie presses a hand to her mouth. Once upon a time, she'd started saying that just to annoy Harley. Looks like it's turned into a thing. ]
"I mean, he's that kind of smart. But Dr. Mr. Bruce is smart. So I like him."
[ Bruce is a different kind of smart. One time, she heard he's a scientist. She thinks it'd be cool to be a scientist, if scientists also got to be superheroes and play outside all the time.
There might be superheroes all around, but she's only six. And her interest in superheroes is new. Ish. Ever since her brother helped out Iron Man that one time. Or so he says. ]
"Oh."
[ Well, it'd be cooler if it was his. ]
"I think it's holding you. Is it holding you?"
[ She peers. He certainly doesn't look like he's holding it. It's kind of attached to him. ]
"Are you holding it for someone special?"

Sebastian Stan, Once Upon a Time
The Winter Soldier (by Steve Epting & Mike Perkins from Captain America #27, 2007)
Despite always finding a sense of joy in his sister’s own, his expression became rather vacant as he listened to her suggestion, his hand closing to a fist and retracting back to his own body once the young girl retrieved her candy to look out their bedroom window instead. It was already getting a bit dark and while Harley was still very much a young, fun-loving child, he had a responsibility now. His sister was his number one priority and if anything were to happen to her, he was certain he’d never forgive himself for it. Still, playing outside in the dark was far more tempting then it should’ve been and with another reluctant sigh, he found himself caving in again as he turned back to face her. “Only if you be careful and don’t climb up too high or else we can’t do this again, okay? You gotta listen.” he informed her sternly.
"You can even climb with me," she says, and hops to her feet. It will be a few years before it truly hits her. A child's mind is resiliant, and so much of it has to do with her brother's sheltering. She'll be thankful and angered by it, in later years.
She holds out her hand to her older brother. Listening usually means things like holding hands when crossing the street, or at least, that's what it means in school. "And we can find rabbits and turtles and try to teach them to speak like people."
... hi, person!
Clint and Natasha, if Clint had had a cameo in Cap 2 (like he should have -bitters-)
Clint is a fucking professional, thank you, and that is the only reason he isn’t panting as he arrives at the random address Natasha texted him, alongside their codeword that means “SHIELD’s been compromised,” what is frankly the creepiest emoji he’s ever seen, and a request.
He took a long circuitous route, losing any tails that might have been trying to follow him, but he doesn’t blame the guy at the door for looking at him like he might be a spy (which, you know, he IS). But eventually the man cracks a grin. “Sam Wilson,” he says, offering a hand.
Clint shakes it. “Clint Barton.” He holds up the package. “Nat asked me for this?”
"Oh, thank god," Natasha says, coming from out of nowhere to lift the flat iron out of his hands.
TRULY THE MOST PERFECT POST HEADCANON INSTANTLY ACCEPTED also in the bag clint brings: her favorite brown eyeshadow (she uses it for eyeliner and brows okay; it’s necessary) an angled liner brush one of the 70 tubes of nude lipstick she’s left at clint’s apartment over the years and clean socks and underwear 'your emergency kit is eye makeup a flat iron lipstick and underwear?' sam asks natasha rolls her eyes 'of course it is. you can find weapons anywhere; do you know what a pain in the ass it is to find a comfortable bra in my size?' (she doesn’t mention that clint’s emergency kit is exactly the same barton’s really weird about who knows how much work he puts into his hairstyle) we’re not a team we’re a time bomb (via gyzym)
How long you been standin’ there?
Your shirt's pretty.
