Thinking about how Glinda's skirts get progressively longer and more voluminous as the show progresses (not counting the bubble dress in NOMTW since that's out of order chronologically)

And the obvious reason for this is that it shows her maturing and gaining more status as the show goes on, but I wonder if there's also something to be said about her clothing becoming more cumbersome and restrictive. The bubble dress is heavy (I believe they tend to range about 12-15 lbs) and it's something that a lot of actresses complain about. Glinda in act 1 tends to have a lot of energy and very over-the-top body language. This is most apparent in popular, which varies between performances but usually involves a lot of jumping around, high kicks, even sometimes splits and attempted cartwheels. She loses this in act 2, both because she wants to project a more serious image as Glinda the Good and because she's just a lot less happy than she was in the first act. But there's also the additional fact that she couldn't do most of those things even if she wanted to, because of her clothing. The persona of Glinda the Good restricts her in a metaphorical sense and the clothing restricts her in a literal sense. She is physically unable to be as lively and expressive as she used to be. And I'm not sure this is intentional (there's also a broader point to be made here about women's clothing in general) but I think it's interesting nonetheless.

As someone who's about to begin studying education and teaching similar grade range that Grace teaches, it honestly is so important to me that there is representation on screen showing a Teacher who is Good at his job Cares about his job and Enjoys his job.

I feel like people genuianly don't realise how rare this is for something to focus on

things probably got really awkward post-canon when elphaba and fiyero were in the desert and elphaba crashed out at him and was like 'you regret this so much you regret leaving you would rather be back at the emerald city married to glinda because how could anyone not want to be married to glinda' cuz atp it's pretty clear that fiyero does not want that and the projection from elphaba is getting a little hard to ignore

I only saw PHM for the first time yesterday because i was on a goddamn library book wait list of four weeks -__- (just wanted to read it before seeing film lol) but all that to say, i want to hear some of your Ryland Grace head canons!!

1. aroace. i mean. do i even need to explain this lol, it's the most widely accepted headcanon of him

2. i just think he's autistic because i think every good character is/should be (naturally) so yeah

3. okay so i haven't seen this one much but he's in a qpr with rocky (rocky is still romantically with adrian though) and i think qpr's are probably just like a regular normal thing on erid because why tf not

4. not really ryland grace, but me and my boyfriend were talking about phm and we decided that rocky speaks in the most foul language ever possible and grace just thinks it's normal and so when he goes to erid, he 1) doesn't understand much if anything any of eridians are saying or 2) on a little human text to eridian speech machine that im sure rocky would have made he just starts speaking like 'what is UP, motherfuckers!!!' and rocky is mortified. in contrast, adrian definitely speaks like the eridian version of shakespeare and always gets annoyed at rocky when he mocks them (also i think adrian have they/them pronouns)

5. again not ryland grace but eva stratt is definitely autistic and thats not even me just self inserting like with most other characters, i mean. look at her.

6. i did have more but they've been lost to the depths of my mind

Ooo I love these esspecially the fourth i havn't seen that said before and thats such a funny thought haha!!

Here's a couple of mine i've been pondering over:

keeps all the drawings his students give him and either display them around his classroom or they're just all pinned to his fridge

2. related to teaching again, he has to restrain himself not to get into heated debates with some of his students parents during parent teacher meetings due to what they may be indotrinating his students with at home and what he has to unteach in class (this is also just a general teacher thing haha)

3. Loves to crochet (for example the fox jacket and the hacky sack)

4. Autistic as well (obviously) but I think undiagnosed, he's been 'peer reveiwed' by other autistic people who obviously know he is. Also I think this is true for Stratt as well

5. Statt packed Graces bags
