Different kinds of killers
Disclaimer: please do not expand this list by finding new ways to kill people. I do not like talking to cops.
Let’s begin with the basics:
Unorganized killer - an unorganized killer is sloppy, unstable, and usually not very intelligent. This type of person isn’t necessarily a sociopath/psychopath, but may suffer from another mental illness. Often, their crimes are not premeditated. They tend to be a result of extreme emotional stress or desperation. Usually, they use a weapon found at the scene to commit the crime, and may not properly dispose of it later. This type of killer is usually easier to identify, because they aren’t as vigilant about cleaning up DNA evidence. The downside to this is that they’re very dangerous, because they tend to feel as if they have nothing to lose/nowhere to go. This type of suspect often develops into a spree killer, who will kill with impunity until they are caught. Even then, they are unlikely to surrender.
Organized killer - an organized killer is highly intelligent, calculating, and detached. With an organized killer, the crime is always premeditated. They have planned out every last detail of the kill(s), and have a strategy to avoid being caught. an organized killer usually brings their own weapon of choice to the scene with them, and dispose of it carefully afterward. This is the type of killer that is likely to be a psychopath, whether they are aware of that fact or not. This is usually the harder type of murderer to catch, because they plan past the moment of the kill. An organized killer will do whatever they feel is necessary to escape, including commit more murders, but usually do not become spree killers. These killers are more likely to surrender than an unorganized one, as long law enforcement plays their cards right. Many are narcissists, and will surrender if it’s the only way to satisfy their need for attention.
Bombers - bombers are, essentially, cowards. They take out the targets of their anger from a distance, instead of face-to-face. This kind of crime often spawns from a person who feels invisible in their everyday life. They feel as though no one ever pays attention to them, so they send a message that everyone will have to see.
Arsonists - arsonists usually do not intentionally kill people. They most often begin torching things out of anger or compulsion, not intent to harm. And, ironically, a lot of arsonists are firefighters with a hero complex.
Angels of mercy - These are usually medical professionals, like nurses or doctors. They tend to kill not out of compulsion or anger, but rather because they believe that they are saving their victims from further misery. These killers are generally capable of feeling remorse, grief, and guilt, but usually do not regret the things they did.
Hero complex - Occasionally, some perpetrators will purposefully leave their victims alive so that they can return later and save them. These killers tend to be doctors, cops, or other first responders. Similar to arsonists, death is not the ultimate goal. Instead, they live for the high of saving people. Even people who they hurt in the first place.
Satanic/cult killings - True satanic or cult murders are nearly unheard of, and the suspects usually profile as ordinary unorganized killers with a preference for the occult. These people are usually young, like in the late teens or early twenties, or severely mentally ill. (Occasionally, an organized killer will use the mask of satan to conceal the true motives for their murders)
