What's wrong with being a parasocial fan?

having a parasocial relationship is not inherently bad, kpop is basically built around parasocialism as that is how the industry makes profit, by fans obsessing over their idols. so being parasocial is not uncommon, but often it can become too extreme when a fan relies on that person to be their main source of happiness and fulfillment, and eventually harming real life relationships and a sense of reality. honestly, i’m probably parasocial about jake, but i don’t let him control my thoughts and feelings every second.

i genuinely believe that heeseung felt artistically restrained so he left to pursue his own ambitions. and, him leaving before their contracts expired makes sense because if he had stayed, the tour would begin and then continue on past their renewal time, giving him no chance to leave.

and to all the fans who still can’t fathom it, please just sit down, and let reality sink in past the delusions and understand for a second that these idols are allowed to choose a path different from what is expected of them, they are people too. his decision to leave makes sense, if you can’t see that, then you don’t know the difference between wanting to be your own artist and being just an idol. you're allowed to still be sad, frankly i am too, but it becomes borderline parasocial when you refuse to move on.

The fact that are STILL tons of people in the comment sections on IG and everywhere trying to find ways to doubt Jungwon's very clear and concise statement is just...a fantastic case of mass psychosis and delusion. I can't believe it. Saying shit like "he looked away from the camera, so he must have been forced to do this." Are you really this fucking dense?

Imagine having to put out a statement like this FOUR MONTHS after a member's departure because a large portion of your fandom suddenly hates you and won't accept you as a six member group, because they think they know what happened better than you do. This is going to be directed towards ENGENES, because I think there's something they have to confront within themselves and it's that they were never fans of ENHYPEN to begin with.

Now, I am not aiming this at all of them, some have been great in this and have been mature and supportive from the start. Real fans and not the parasocail weirdos(You know who you are).

"ENHYPEN is 7!", "I know Jungwon and he was forced by the company!", "I'm still going to do the ot7 fanchant I don't care!", "No Heeseung! No ENHYPEN!", "He's kicking us out of the fandom!" I can go on and on with comments you OT7 people have been saying. Haven't you any shame?

It's very clear by your crashouts none of you had any respect for ENHYPEN from the beginning and didn't actually support them. I see comments how some people haven't been able to listen to their music since Heeseung left and that's fine, you're upset, cool...but don't go raging on social media demanding Heeseung comes back because YOU feel the need to dictate these human beings and everyone must cater to your needs.

If you guys truly supported and trusted(keyword: trusted) your Artists it wouldn't have come down to this. From the very beginning you should have listened. Since that day on March 10. Kept your theories to yourself and send both Heeseung and ENHYPEN SUPPORTIVE MESSAGES! Be upset, be sad, but understand them as people and just send them supportive messages.

You all have been insanely spoiled as a fandom and don't understand what it's like having an Artist set a boundary with you hence why you're crashing out so bad...and it's honestly embarassing. I saw a comment where someone was saying how Jungwon should understand where the fans are coming from because they're "hurting" and honestly if you think like this I'm going to be straight with you: suck it up. How do you think ENHYPEN feels? Every single crashout, every single comment you make reminding them of everything; does that not hurt ENHYPEN too? They are getting harassed and 2 members have had to tell you to knock it off! So you knock it off! ENHYPEN are trying their best to pick up the pieces and none of you guys are helping with your selfishness.

Jungwon was very clear in his message that ENHYPEN is 6 and they are trying to move on as 6. You need to let them if you had any respect for them. Heeseung was a part of ENHYPEN, he's no longer a member and has started his new chapter finding his Artistry and that's amazing. We should be cheering for him because what he did was not easy and absolutely terrifying. You need to be proud of him and be proud of ENHYPEN too. ENHYPEN then was important and the new ENHYPEN is just as important.

If you cannot do this, if you cannot respect their wishes and support them as they are now then like Jungwon said you will not be considered fans and you need to take your exit. Be honest with yourselves here.

ENHYPEN doesn't need 'fans' like you if you cannot simply respect them. That is all they ask and it's not hard. It's not hard to just flood their comments with, "You did a good job! Don't forget to eat and rest well! We love you!" It's really that easy. Trust me.

PS: I understand BeLift handled this situation poorly, but this is about ENHYPEN and Heeseung now. Stop using BeLift as your excuse and blaming them for everything. Focus on the Artists and know how you need to move forward from here. Also, if this offends you then know it was directed at you! :)

after jungwons live yesterday i hoped people would finally stop. but there is still so many engenes saying ‘oh but enhypen gave us so many hints at the brazil concert’.

Jungwon addressing the fan chants and speaking on behalf of the members is something none of you guys should be hating on 😭 He’s setting boundaries and if you as a fan cannot continue to support enhypen, you shouldn’t be calling yourself an engene. I wanted to speak on JUNGWON’s live so it’s clear to people because some of you don’t understand even when the leader of the group comes out to speak about it:

Sure, probably the company made him speak up about it, but maybe it’s what’s best. But can’t we all just support them? At the end of the day, we don’t know what’s going behind doors, we don’t know if they were forced to say something, or to stay quiet, we don’t know anything, so why are we assuming stuff. Why can’t we just take Jungwon’s and Jay’s words and accept it.

Enhypen was seven. Enhypen is six.

Heeseung is a soloist. Heeseung used to be in enhypen.

Unfortunately that’s how it is now, and don’t get me wrong, obviously I’m sad because I never thought I’d see the day where Heeseung or any other member left the group but that’s what happened and we need to accept that. Seriously, it’s been five months.

Heeseung is now in his solo journey and if you are a true ever / engene, you will support him and enhypen. There’s no need for comparison, there’s no need to bring down either of them to make the other look better. They were once a team, just because a member left, doesn’t mean that bond is broken.

How bad is the fan wars between those who only support one side and bash the other that jungwon has to come out and tell you to stop?
