I see it's time to unveil Operation: Gay MTG Hanukkah

What is Operation GMH, you may ask?

Well, Magic fans, I’ll tell ya.

This Hanukkah, from 25 Kislev to 2 Tevet (that’s Sunday, December 22 to Monday, December 30), I’m going to be posting eight LGBT Magic fanfiction pieces, one per night, both here on Tumblr and on my Archive of our Own account. Each is going to be based on a particular theme I find relevant to the Hanukkah season, focusing on a specific character pairing.

After the biphobic disaster that is War of the Spark: Forsaken, I’m finally motivated to start creating the gay Magic content I’ve been dreaming of, but never had the courage to write. I owe it to myself, and to all the other queer MTG fans out there, to do this. We deserve better than hollow pandering from a company that gutted a beautiful creative team to outsource its story to writers that barely even know the source material.

I am not very good at playing still, but I had so much fun this weekend at Eldraine prerelease! I got a Magic Mirror!! And a pretty alt-art foil!

I did a red white knight deck, and had fun with others’ Firstborns and wore a super cool red hood. I lost all but one game, leading to that match being a draw. An adorable little boy I went against was telling me my red hood made me look just like Rowan, and he kept coming back to tell me about things... a pure bean...

I love this set so much, and even though I absolutely don’t look like Rowan, I’m glad I got to meet cool people! And got recognized for always being extra at prereleases, lol

I need to play more, but with my schedule booked tight with grad school, it will take me a while. That’s okay, I’m fine with my single prize packs at the end of the day, and the fun I’ve had!

(my prize pack even had Rankle the Prankle... a beautiful prankle friend...)

Hey folks so you know my Narset story??

How the reason I got into magic was learning about this iconic canon autistic woman character?

Well.

Last night I went to the LGS for D&D Adventurer’s League

They were discussing Narset around me and I kept being like “oh yes, you mean my wife?”

“She’s very expensive in foil right now”

“But I love her. I need her.”

I buy a prerelease kit since I missed the actual event last week (thanks anime convention I had a blast)

And a bundle, still have to open that one

I sit down at my table and start to open the kit since I had five minutes, plenty of time to open a box, right?

I see blue pips peeking out of my promo pack

“It can’t be...”

I stop breathing

It’s literally what I dreamed of
