Cinema in the City.
I’m obsessed with just projecting film on facades. Seeing people gathered in the public spaces all conversing. Sharing in an experience with strangers. The idea that the City is a theater. Perhaps its just a combination of the two things I love. Culture and Community.
The Huddled Masses
While biking home...I saw the huddled masses walking in the alley. Upon a closer investigation, I realized they were The MAG crowd. The Alt-Right. In their small crowd. Wearing their red hats. Nervous. Scared about walking around in Berkeley. Unsure of who and what might confront them. I felt bad for them. They come from a thought and ideology that many of us can't understand or disagree with. They come from a philosophy that America was 'Great' in the Post-War era...The belief that Christianity was the only appropriate world view...perhaps they were unchallenged....perhaps they come from towns and families, who they loved and respected. It’s hard to disagree with those we love. Those we cherish...and yet perhaps they too are wrong. I felt sorry for them. I felt love for them. I felt immense sadness for them. Because in that moment I felt that they were living in a bygone era. I once felt their lives. I felt their fear of change. The fear of a new world. And yet they were connected as a community. They were a herd and they were victimized. Hunted that their ideas weren’t good.
Drink
Jack Nicholson, “The Shining” (Stanley Kubrick, 1980).
Why drinking whiskey matters.
The beauty of drinking whiskey. The clearer thoughts.
The honest thoughts.
Loosening of the mind.
Your mind just floats.
It flows into one thought to the next.
One thought after the other.
A simple and quick way to get out of oneself and truly experience your life.
