@whisperisms // “oh my god, isn’t that the lively-orwell girl?” “yeah, what the fuck is she doing here?” eva almost threw punches and the middle aged housewives standing behind them in line. her and whisper had been standing in line for lord knows how long trying to get some coffee to start their weekend. it was going well, better than usual, no had pointed at them, or even whispered something they couldn’t hear, it felt like for the first time in a while they could just have fun without feeling like they had a target behind their back. but everything changed when white mom™, deborah and jill, started talking. eva already felt uneasy, and she couldn’t imagine whisper was feeling much better.
“wait,” the woman she named deborah said, “isn’t that the new meyer-coulson girl?” eva’s breath hitched, that bitch. “i’ve never heard a single good thing about her” she nodded her head understandably, eva didn’t have the best reputation either, being known as the ‘new adopted kid’ and the ‘druggy of the family’ she couldn’t imagine the whole town to take a like on her. “well,” the other one, jill™ commented, “it’s like they say, evil walks with evil”
eva bit her lip, “hey whisp,” she suggested in a calm voice, “do want to get out of here? this line is ridiculous, i’m sure we can find a better place near your house..”
did people know how to whisper? evidently not. not only was it fucking rude... it was irritating. she could only handle so much. she knew she'd been talked about, but this was the first she heard it up close and personal. turning around, she gave the older women a smile. "hi. i'm whisper. like, that's my actual name. whisper. which is... exactly the opposite of what you're doing," she said. "i understand the shock of me being back, but it's kind of none of your business. i wasn't just some... teenager that didn't wanna listen to mom and dad so i ran away. i was an adult when i moved," she said. "i see you two are still... trying to be socialites. while you stayed here, married to your cheating husbands and continue to get drunk every afternoon, pay no attention to your children who deserve better parents, and popping xanax like your lives depend on it --- which it probably does by now --- i was in boston. getting my degree," she said stepping closer to the older women. "and now i'm back. i'm also a mother. and a nurse. i'm a literal fucking hero because i save babies lives. so you can keep talking shit about me, and about anybody else you want, but you should focus on yourselves instead of those more successful than you because if i hear one more fucking word about me come out of your botox injected lips, i'll personally undo all that plastic surgery you've had done and you won't be recognizable. how would you like to be remembered as nothing but a small last-page newspaper article about a breast implant found in the middle of a park with no body to account for?" she asked, in an almost sickly sweet tone, still sporting that polite smile.
she then turned back around and nodded to eva. "yeah. my neighborhood doesn't have so many... desperate housewives hanging around," she said.
