OKAY LISTEN UP NERDS

I’ve recently discovered this website/app called EdX and hooooooly shit it’s amazing. I feel like not many people know about it so here’s a list of what it is and what it does and shit:

It’s deadass a bunch of courses from universities all over the world (like Harvard, Oxford, Columbia, etc.).

Most of them are self paced, so you can do them in your own time, but some you do with a group and have a time frame to complete it.

There’s legit something for everyone, some examples of courses are: Drawing Nature, Science and Culture: Natural History Illustration 101, Applying Leadership and Strategy Fundamentals in Healthcare, Age of Sustainable Development, and Fantastic Places, Unhuman Humans: Exploring Humanity Through Literature (I’m doing that one)

OH DID I MENTION ITS COMPLETELY FREE????

If you complete the course you can chose to buy a certificate for it, which usually cost around $100 (that’s Australian dollars) but you don’t have to and the course itself is free.

There’s over 2000 courses and they update regularly, adding new ones and sometimes taking ones down.

The few examples I gave honestly don’t even begin to touch on how many there are and how diverse they are, you can find courses on human rights, science, artificial intelligence, art, literature, math, etc.

ALSO there’s courses for different languages and courses for people wanting to learn English!

Anyway there it is, I told all my friends about it and none of them had heard of it so I thought I should probably share!

I’m looking for creators - it doesn’t matter what you create - to feature in my ezine Per Noi. I’m looking for people to interview - I wanna hear about your coming out, your first love, the pain that sits with you, the relationship you have with your parents. I wanna hear about what makes you, you.

Per Noi is a zine created by us, for us. The queer kids, the artists, the youth who feel underrepresented, who feel silenced, who just want to be heard and seen.

I wrote poetry about you. I wrote poetry about your lips and your words and the way you made me feel. I wrote poetry for you. I wrote poetry for you to read later, when maybe we were old. I fantasised about our future, and about how even if I was having the worst day of my life, having the privilege of holding your hand would make me the luckiest woman on earth. I fantasied about loving you, but I didn’t love you. I wanted to grow to love you. I wanted you to grow to love me. I loved the idea of falling in love, and I loved the idea of being loved.

It didn’t work out. But thanks for giving me a taste of what loving you could be.

I’m always like I love relationships where we are like an hour or smthn apart bc I don’t feel forced to spend 100% of my time with them and it doesn’t feel pressured and when I do see them I get to pay 100% attention to them, great idea! In theory

Now that my love interest/almost partner is like three hours away from me I wanna die bc I miss them so much? And I can’t just spend every day with them? I don’t stan.

Tumblr is shit lmao

The tumblr update is just proving itself worse and worse every day. My friend’s aesthetic blog (think flowers, art, buildings, etc.) was marked nsfw. She has multiple posts flagged and none of them break tumblrs new rules. There’s one of two people, fully clothed, IN SWEATERS, flagged. Anyway she’s complaining to them now but I just wanna say I fucking hate the new update.

Cover and page 1 - rough draft

So, here’s an incredibly rough draft of the first issue of Per Noi. On the front cover, I want to put a piece of artwork in the middle, because otherwise it looks a bit plain. I will also continue to edit the introduction, bc I wrote it at 2am last night.

This zine means so much to me, I’m so passionate and excited about it and can’t wait to see the end result! I will continue to keep everyone updated with how it’s going, however I won’t be posting finished drafts of its pages on here as I want that to be a surprise!

Rough (very rough draft) introduction to first issue of Per Noi

Happy New Year!

I figure that’s the expected way to welcome you all into the first addition of Per Noi. The online zine for everybody, for the writers who are stuck with a hideous case of of writer’s block, for the artists who can’t get people to take their work seriously, for the lonely queer girl hiding behind the shed at the back of their school, reading this on her phone. Okay, perhaps that’s a bit ambitious for the first addition, or maybe not. Okay, it is. But that’s okay! Here, we are all about celebrating ambition, creativity and individuality! We encourage readers, and featured creators to explore themselves, to face new experiences head on, and to challenge new ideas that they would usually ignore.

This issue will center around the New Year. We will discuss resolutions, how they can be unhealthy, and some healthy and fun alternatives to the usual diet and weight loss centered resolutions we see all over the internet and among our peers. We will feature artists with goals to expand their art this year, who have big ambitions for 2019, or artists who are just starting out. Writers who have submitted prose and poetry about what the New Year means to them, emotionally, mentally. Among New Year themed pages, interviews with creators, articles and anecdotes will be found. As well as ways to explore your appreciation of art, playlists will be made, art will be suggested, websites will be offered. This issue is going to be filled with life, life for us.

A Zine. Q&A.

For the new year, and as a apart of my resolution to be more creative, social and productive, I’m going to create a zine.

Okay, good idea, but what’s it going to be about, do you have a name for it? Is this anything but a spur of the moment idea for validation? Yes! To all of those questions! The name will be Per Noi, which is Italian for For Us. It will be a place for artists, writers, young people, and queer people to share ideas, articles, and creations. I really want it to be a place with no shame, no censorship, a place open to ideas of all sorts (I don’t mean that in a, “let’s listen to this trump supporter and see if any of their points are valid” way). I want to include interviews of artists big and small, a place where people can write articles about things their passionate about, I want to include poetry, artwork, essays, anecdotes, interviews, and anything that could inspire anyone. I fully intend to follow through with this project.

Seems fun! How often will issues be released? At first I’m going to aim for an issue a month. Next month I will publish the New Years addition, January’s addition. Then in March I will publish February’s, and so on.

Okay, I’m starting to think maybe this is legit. Who will you need to help create and be apart of Per Noi? And how are you going to find them? Thanks for asking! As far as editing and such, I will first attempt to do that on my own, but if anyone would like to assist, please contact me (on here)! As for finding creators for the zine, for this first issue, I will make a post with a link to submit an application, I will also message people I’ve had contact with and accounts of creators I’m interested in, and see if they are interested! Please, if you are a creator of any sort, message me or comment to be a part of this!
