college witch tips!
being a witch and living in a tiny dorm or apartment is a hassle… but here’s some (cheap and easy) tips to make your life a lot easier coming from a college witch!
quick note: if you are a student, you can get six months free of amazon prime with a student email account, and from then on out prime is only $50 instead of $100! amazon is a great place for tons of cheaper witchy resources (and really worth it for textbooks).
💎 crystals! whether you’re sharing a room with someone or in a room by yourself, plenty of people collect and use crystals. check for local flea markets or see if there is an occult shop in your area, there’s bound to be some there. great starter crystals are clear quartz (an essential crystal), amethyst, and rose quartz!
📚 the library! your school library will have some sort of resources. also don’t worry about people thinking you’re strange for checking out books on magick… i promise they don’t care!
🕯 candles and incense! when i lived in a dorm, i hated not being able to light candles and burn incense. invest in some battery powered candles! you can get packs at local dollar stores or walmarts. as for aroma related magick, purchase some oils and mix them with some salt water and spray them around your room! oil warmers or wax warmers are also wonderful alternatives.
📖 a grimoire/book of shadows! i highly suggest keeping a personal book. no, you don’t have to get some elaborate leather bound book that came straight out of hocus pocus for it to be legit. you could find a sketchbook somewhere, use a three ring binder, or buy a hardback book at a thrift store and paint over the pages! your book is what you make of it. it is your own novel of personal magical experiences and knowledge, so make it your own!
🌵 plants! invest in cacti and succulents especially if you are a beginner or live in a tight space, they’re easy to manage throughout the rough mishaps and late nights of school work. cacti are great for protection and banishing negativity, where succulents bring love and healing. both plants can represent the ability to survive through conditions others cannot. if you have a balcony, take advantage!
⚗️ jars! now is a great time to collect containers from thrift stores, gather old pickle jars, and look for sales and coupons craft stores may have since most of them will have all sorts of neat jars.
🔮 an altar! if you don’t have a roommate to worry about, great! do your thing. if you do (and the don’t exactly seem cool with the whole witch thing), you can make a subtle altar of candles, crystals, and some plants or flowers. they don’t have to be elaborate. you could keep a small altar in a shoe box or draw one in your bos/grimoire! get creative!
✍️ sigils! use sigils. abuse sigils. put them everywhere. write them in binders or on your skin, write them on sticky notes or ripped paper and put them places you’ll see them or bury them outside. sleep with a protective one under your pillow. there’s so many things to do and its so easy to use them!
🎨 get creative! you can make crystals out of salt (another thing you should invest in), learn how to read playing cards if you can’t afford a tarot deck, and never forget you can find the coolest things at thrift stores. paint can be your best friend!
☕️ tea and coffee! a keurig is a wonderful investment. whether you like coffee or tea, it gives you boiling water fast without leaving a dorm. enchant your keurig and remind yourself of the properties in your drink to help you learn.
✨ decorating! take advantage of things like twinkle lights and washi tape! if you don’t know about washi tape, its a decorating tape that does not damage walls. create constellations or sigils with washi tape on your walls! amazon also sells many cheap tapestries. give yourself a comfortable and pleasant space to live and work!
⏳ plan! enchant your planners to help you remember due dates, and while you’re at it, keep track of moon phases and other events! many calendars will tell you when full moons are.
⚖️ meditate! this is something i find very important to stay sane during hard semesters. if you have a roommate, maybe meditate in the morning or late at night laying in bed. you could also meditate when they have classes. its okay if you cant every day, but its important to remember to save time for you.
🏃♀️ walks! if you live in a dorm there’s a big chance you’ll be walking to class. enjoy these walks with nature, read outside every now and again, but make sure that you are always safe.
⏱ take your time! you do not have to collect all of these things in a week, month, or even year. witchcraft is all about intent and energy. you hold the power, the items are only there to help. manifest your own power, collect at your own pace.
🔎research! always research properties of things. buy cheap dried herbs from grocery stores and work with them, figure out what to put in your coffee to help you with your day, and learn how to enchant crystals to help you feel a little more confident about your studies. most importantly, learn to balance your studies and your witchy research, and don’t let witchcraft get in the way of your schoolwork. school should come first always!
i hope this helped some of you college witches, new and experienced! i am always open to answer questions! happy casting!
Anti-anxiety Herbs
A list of herbs that help reduce stress & anxiety & how to use them.
Chamomile: Top of the list because it’s my personal favourite. Chamomile is very calming, & also helps calm the nervous system, reducing physical & emotional tensions & helping to soothe, & calm the mind. Chamomile tea is very effective in relieving anxiety, & can also be used in combination with other herbs as an edible oil to take internally for an instant relief. The smell of Chamomile alone is very calming & for these reasons it can also be used in aromatherapy remedies as incense or facial mists.
Lavender: Lavender is also very soothing & has a slight sedative effect. Use Lavender alone, or in combination with other herbs to place inside a pillow to aid in a restful sleep. Lavender can also be drunk as a tea to provide relief from emotional tensions & anxieties, & aid in soothing the nervous system, relieving physical stress as well.
Green Tea: Helps by relieving heart rate, & blood pressure, & cleans & detoxifies the blood at the same time. Provides mental clarity & reduces anxiety whilst improving focus, preventing one from becoming lethargic.
Hops: Used in sleep pillows, & edible anti-anxiety oils & tinctures. Hops has mild sedative effects.
Valerian: Valerian is a strong sedative herb & can help promote a deep, restful sleep. It produces an unpleasant smell, so is usually taken as a supplement or tincture, but can also be used in combination with other fragrant herbs to drink as tea.Valerian has such strong sedative effects that it is advised only taking this herb in the evening, before bed. A good aid for insomniacs.
Lemon Balm: Lemon Balm has been used since the middle ages to help reduce stress & anxiety. It is useful in promoting both a calm, & more alert state of mind. Commonly taken as a tea, tincture, or capsule supplement.
Passionflower: Passionflower has mild sedative properties & helps soothe & calm the nervous system & relieve anxiety. It is also a great aid for insomnia.
Licorice Root: Helps by stimulating relaxing chemicals in the brain, it helps one in dealing with general stress. Soothes & calms the nervous system. Most commonly drunk in combination with other herbs as a tea, & used in sleep pillows.
Note: All of these herbs can be used in herbal sachets & other magickal charms to relieve stress & anxiety.
Remember these are only herbal suggestions, NOT prescribed medicine, if you are already on medication, ask your doctor if it’s ok to use some of these herbs internally as some come can react with medication. Do not take too many sedative supplements at once & consult your doctor before internal use of any herbal supplements if you are pregnant.
Just witchy things
When you try to do a reading and cards keep popping out. And you’re like,“Is this a sign or are my hands just small?”
Pretty easy magic to get whatever you want (AKA, the Polar Spell)
This is called the Polar spell because it has two polaric sides: a banishing and a summoning.
This can be performed by someone from any path or faith.
You will simply need a quiet space and a point of focus. Try to use a unique point of focus that you only use with this spell.
For this spell, you will banish something you don’t want, then summon it’s opposite. Examples are poverty/wealth, loneliness/friendship, or anxiety/peace.
This point of focus can be anything. It could be nothing at all if you are good at focusing your mind. If you are a witch, you may like to use a candle flame, the witch’s compass, or some dried herbs. If you are religious, an icon of your god or religious leader could certainly do the trick. If you are New Age, try crystals. Choose an object that acts as a portal to the Universe, Heaven, or the Otherworld. When you focus on this object, your voice and thoughts are infused by the powers of that realm, and anything you desire can become reality.
If your path calls for it, cleanse your point of focus however you please. If you like, use my cleansing ritual.
Hold your point of focus and see that (imagine) it is covered with an icky, grimy energy. Take a deep breath and imagine your breath is the color of purification. Exhale on your focus object and see that the grimy energy is becoming totally cleared away, being purified by your breath and returning to a state of neutrality. Either exhale once or three times. If for some reason you cannot stop seeing the icky grimy energy on your object, let it rest covered in salt for three days.
While looking at your focus object, relax and imagine that you are becoming very connected with your realm. Let yourself be infused with the power of that place. It is shining down on you always, and all you need to do is accept it. In this moment of focus, you can accept it. Think or say, “I accept my power to change the Universe.” It is alright if you feel strange, tingly, or even a little creepy. It’s an intense moment. Enjoy it.
Think about what you would like to banish. Focus intently on it. Imagine it in whatever form seems most fitting. Then imagine that something happens to that energy which sends it away. Some examples:
The energies you wish to banish are burned up in flames, and the ashes are blown far away.
The energies are trapped in bubbles, and the bubbles carry them far away.
The energies are encased in lead or cement and sink to the bottom of the ocean.
The energies are an illusion which shatters like glass.
As you imagine the energies being destroyed or carried away, say or think, “I banish you, [energies]. You are exiled from my life.” Repeat this once or however many times seems fitting.
If for any reason, you simply cannot imagine these energies being removed, or they seem to be invulnerable to damage, you are trying to banish something too big or too deeply rooted. Start smaller.
Once these energies have been properly banished, it is time to call in their opposites to fill that blank space. Just as you did before, vividly imagine the opposing, benevolent energies appearing in your life.
Imagine that you are holding a seed, and from the seed sprouts the energies you desire.
Imagine that a strong wind or rain brings these energies and places them at your feet.
Imagine that before you is an ancient treasure chest, which opens to reveal what you desire.
Imagine that a creature of good omens carries these energies in its mouth and drops them in to your life.
Once the energies have “arrived,” imagine that they grow bigger and bigger until it fills your life.
If you cannot grow the energies, you may lack the power to do so, or something could be blocking them. Try summoning something else that is benevolent and healthy. In addition, try making your visualizations more simple and with less detail.
Once you have imagined this energy filling your entire life, do a gesture of sealing. An example could be saying a word or phrase like “so mote it be” or “it is done.” Or you could blink, clap your hands, stomp your feet, or do sign language.
Send thanks to your higher powers, leave an offering to the spirits, or do anything else to show your gratefulness (if desired). Cover your focus object with a cloth or within a container. Put it away. Go ground by eating some food, doing a little physical activity, and talking to friends.
Repeat this quick spell once a day until you see the forces in your life changing. For a small banishment/summoning, expect to see results within a week. For a much larger scale, the timeline will naturally grow longer.
If this spell does not work for you within a week, send me a message and we will troubleshoot.
Banishing Negativity
Burn your favorite purification herb (mine is sage and or rosemary) in a safe container. Circle around head clockwise and slowly recite:
“Calm, calm calm my head,
remove this awful dread.
Ease, ease, ease my heart,
help these thoughts to depart.”
Stop rotation and continue to breath in smoke of herb until you feel that your mind has relaxed. Repeat incantation if necessary.
This spell has always helped me when trying to get rid of pestering thoughts, relaxing my mind, and relieving anxiety. Usually, I like to light some white candles if I really need it :- )

May this solstice and the turning of the wheel bring you love, peace, and good fortune in the coming year Let us welcome the returning sun with hope and joy! May you never thirst!!! Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again!!!
when millennials were first heading into high school and college there was a huge trend in news stories about how stressed out our kids are, how their backs are getting messed up from carrying so many books, how they’re sleeping less and doing more school work, and how we should do more to help our kids have the childhoods we had because our kids are falling apart from stress and being forced to be more productive than kids should be. but then once millennials started hitting the workforce all the news was about how millennials are lazy and narcissistic and entitled lmao you were real concerned about us until you found out a 23 year old is more qualified to do your job than you
That’s because at some point in the middle we stopped being “their children” and became a bloc of terrifying outsiders with foreign values and little regard for what had been their established cultural norms.
I’d forgotten this but you’re right. I think it started earlier though, it started when we started out performing them on exams. Then suddenly all our schoolwork was easy and we were being rewarded for just showing up.
