Fans also got their first details on Toy Story 5, arriving next summer. A new character was revealed: “Multibuzz”, a high-tech, 50-piece collector’s edition Buzz Lightyear toy who will shake up the dynamic between Woody and friends. Buzz himself will even appear in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to help kick off the celebration.

Cardiff Officer Faces Misconduct Hearing Over Fatal E-Bike Crash
A South Wales Police officer is to face a gross misconduct hearing following the deaths of two teenagers in a Cardiff e-bike crash, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed.
The crash, which claimed the lives of Harvey Evans, 15, and Kyrees Sullivan, 16, in May 2023, sparked grief and unrest in the Ely community after CCTV footage showed a police van in the area shortly before the fatal collision.
IOPC Findings
After a two-year investigation, the IOPC determined that while there was no direct contact between the police vehicle and the e-bike at the time of the crash, the officer involved “has a case to answer” for gross misconduct.
Key concerns highlighted by the watchdog include:
• The accuracy of the officer’s account given to colleagues after the incident.
• Possible breaches of honesty and integrity standards.
• Issues relating to the driving of the police van.
• Concerns over the language used by the officer in the aftermath.
Criminal Charges Ruled Out
Earlier this year, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced it would not bring criminal charges, citing insufficient evidence to pursue a case of dangerous driving or misconduct in public office. Families of the boys have been informed they can request a review of that decision under the Victims’ Right to Review scheme.
Next Steps
The gross misconduct case will now be considered by a disciplinary panel. If the allegations are proven, the officer could face sanctions ranging from a final written warning to dismissal.
The IOPC stressed that its findings do not mean guilt has been established, but rather that the evidence is strong enough to require a hearing.
Community Impact
The deaths of Evans and Sullivan not only devastated their families but also triggered violent clashes in Ely on the night of the crash, as community tensions boiled over amid speculation about a police pursuit.
While the IOPC’s report ruled out a direct chase or contact, its findings around the officer’s account and conduct ensure that the controversy surrounding the tragedy will continue into the disciplinary process.
Lancashire Man Arrested Over Online Racist Abuse Targeting England Star Jess Carter
A 59-year-old man from Great Harwood, Lancashire, has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications following racist and abusive messages sent to England defender Jess Carter during last month’s UEFA Women’s Euros.
Lancashire Police confirmed the arrest on 28 August 2025, stating the man has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue. The investigation was carried out in coordination with the UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) and social media platforms.
Abuse During the Euros
Carter, who played a pivotal role in England’s campaign in Switzerland, was subjected to a wave of racial abuse online, particularly after the Lionesses’ quarter-final victory over Sweden. The 27-year-old Chelsea defender later revealed she felt “scared” ahead of the final against Spain and chose to step away from social media during the tournament to protect her mental wellbeing.
Police and Authorities’ Response
Chief Constable Mark Roberts, the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead for football policing, condemned the abuse as “appalling” and praised Carter’s decision to speak publicly about her experience. He added that the arrest should send a message that online hate will be pursued and offenders held accountable.
PC Dan Fish of Lancashire Police echoed this stance, stressing that there is “no place for hate” and that hiding behind a social media profile does not shield perpetrators from the law.
Wider Crackdown on Online Abuse
The arrest is expected to be the first of several as investigations continue into the racial abuse directed at players during the Euros. The case highlights the persistent issue of discriminatory abuse in football and the growing efforts by police, football authorities, and technology companies to combat it.
