I can say with certainty that it has been an interesting trip to get to here and now. It seems like I always take the longest and most scenic route and wonder sometimes which parts of myself were lost, and which were found along the way.
It’s nothing new, that constant feeling of being left behind, of being the so-called “late bloomer.” I sit here now in the same place Wreshy once lived, across the street from Tri-High as he so lovingly put it. It’s weird thinking about how I ended up back here. I can still remember his first apartment, the picnics we would go on, and the insane hours he would work at the airport.
It’s funny to go back and read some of the livejournal entries we made in high school during the mid-aughts. I find it pretty incredible just how bad I was at english, though I may later change my mind depending on how well some of these entries will read, but I digress.
So here I type away in my cozy covid-apartment. It’s that place I so lovingly chose without stepping foot inside or even taking a glance. I still remember the look on the landlord’s face after mentioning I hadn’t seen it yet when she handed me the key. I put about as much thought into the whole process as someone might put into picking a seat on a crowded bus. Smack dab in the middle of the pandemic, I needed a new place to live and wasn’t interested in being near people face to face. I had a good programming job with decent pay so cost of rent was low on my list but choosing quickly was, and it needed to be near Cleveland.
I’m pretty fond of the area between Tri-C and the parmatown mall, Parma seems to have sucked me back in. I really can’t think of a better place to live around here, it seems central and safe. I have everything I would need, just a short walk or bike ride away -- so here I am, and here I stay for the time being. I’ve been here for about a year and have signed a lease for another, so will be here until at least the next fall.
Over the last few years, I’ve spent most of my time learning to program and build web apps specifically. I’ve always wanted to build web stuff even back in high school, but the raves had pulled me in a different direction that I do not regret. After a lot of partying, I went back to art school and learned how to draw, paint, and design. It’s funny how I seem to always come back to art, but now with the ability to write code it seems to be a match made in heaven. I have one cat now and his name is Pita. He’s a bear of a cat, but he’s nice enough, so he can stay as long as he likes.
