im so tired but saying ace ppl arent lgbt isn’t saying their identities aren’t valid. you can still support ace people and hope for them to have a productive community that has the resources needed for ace specific issues while acknowledging that being ace without experiencing same gender attraction doesn’t make you lgbt. the lgbt community isn’t a catch all for “outside of the norm” orientations, it’s always existed to combat transphobia and homophobia. the lgbt community’s resources and goals should used toward issues that impact trans people and people who experience same gender attraction. while obviously there are people who are both ace and lgbt, it’s okay to have different communities to serve different needs

I’ve been in this discourse for not too long but long enough to be tired of it. I am sick and tired of the ace discourse. I’m sick and tired of trying to keep calm towards aphobes and exclusionists so I’m going to get this stuff off my chest.

Aces and aros belong in the LGBT+. Even cis ones, like me. And even if we aren’t LGBT, the LGBT community have no problem letting people who pretend to be something they’re not in. The LGBT have no problem including transwomen who think they’re women and transmen who think they’re trans. You’ll allow people with mental illnesses that cause them to want to be the opposite sex but not want people who don’t have sexual attraction? That doesn’t make any sense. Transgerderism, a mental illness is allowed and even supported in the LGBT but oh no not people who don’t have sexual attraction! Exclusionists LOVE to bring up people like Martin P. Johnson and say dumb stuff like “black trans women created the LGBT.” Well they’re WRONG. Nobody created the LGBT, especially not black people, the most queerphobic race to ever exist. So nobody has any right to say who belongs in it and who doesn’t.

LGBT people think they’re better than ace people which is bullshit. They think they’re superior to ace people. That’s why so many of them are exclusionists. But honestly, LGBT people aren’t superior to ace people. The LGBT community have always had a problem with AIDS. They’re dirty, hyper sexual freaks who think they’re better than ace people just because. But who’s jealous of people who do nothing but get pregnant and get STDs??? Definitely not me. And gay men are GOOD at getting AIDS and dying before they even hit 30. But they all somehow hate ace people. And I think I know why. The LGBT community is jealous of ace people. They’re jealous because we don’t get STDS or get pregnant like them. They’re jealous because we are favored by the world more than them.

One time I was talking about the oppression of ace ppl and an Exclusionist brought up the Orlando Pulse Shooting to “prove” how LGBT people are treated. Yeah, LGBT people are murdered and all that but you wanna know who murders LGBT people the most? LGBT PEOPLE. LGBT people murder themselves by having unprotected sex and getting AIDS. They literally kill themselves. Honestly, Omar Mateen did the LGBT community a favor. He probably knocked the AIDS percentage down a notch. Sometimes that’s all it takes to decrease AIDS. Luckily, ace people don’t have to worry about that kind of stuff because we don’t worry about having sex unlike you people.

So to conclude, I want all ace people of all kinds to know that we’re valid and belong in the LGBT. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

I grew up with CU. I remember when it first came out. There was NEVER any mention of something like sexuality or the like. Those things arent necessary in a CHILDRENS BOOK. Now, for Pilkey to all of a sudden make Harold gay, is shameful and ingenuine. Its blatant pandering and needlessly shoving a political message down kids throats. 

I dont hate gays. If Harold was gay from the start this post wouldnt exist. Its the pandering that has me heated. Pilkey is saying “LOOK HOW PROGRESSIVE IAM!” with this, and its disgusting . I hate sellouts

Yall missed the point entirely. It’s incredibly obvious Pilkey only did this to satiate fanatical nazis like yall. Otherwise, it would have been brought up long before 2015. He’s said out his own mouth about their mental disabilities and all that. Never said shit about anyone being gay.

Now he pulls it out his ass knowing the liberal media and yall cucks are gonna praise him and give mad brownie points. There’s gonna be mindless idiots who buy these books for their kids now SOLELY because Harold is now gay. Just like when they first came out there were a lot of black parents who ONLY bought the books because George is black.

If it turns out Harold turned out to be gay, wonderful, but there was no building to that. There was no hinting, no explanation, nothing. Both of their disabilities are emphasized, explained, and normalized throughout the original books. As some of you have said, that was indeed a major point. Even as a child I caught that. It wasn’t a political message, but a social one.

Pilkey was saying “This is whats going on.” That’s awesome. I enjoyed that as a kid because I myself experienced mistreatment for my psyche problems. I was considered a throwaway, a hopeless, violent spaz.

This, however, conveys none of that. There’s no bringing of awareness or point. It’s just “Oh BTW Harold’s gay.”, and that’s honestly more harmful than anything because now he’s just a token. Now he only exists to be the gay character. There’s no significance. It’s pandering, plain and simple.

Anyone who can’t see that has their head far up their asses.

Then why does that book lack the explanation and subtle display of this message, as before? I’ve read the book in question since this began and found nothing of the sort. Anyone can point out superficial things and give them meaning, but a true statement is usually obvious, you feel me?
