That scene where a 30-something Phoebe Buffay confesses to Mike that she's never had a serious long-term relationship or celebrated an anniversary etc lives rent free in my head. I feel like we talk a lot about how we're all positively and negatively affected by the things that DO happen to us, but in my experience we're also so shaped by the things that don't - the milestones we think we're supposed to reach but never do, the experiences we always dreamed about but never actually have. It means so much to me to see representation for people who haven't had serious relationships or other things that people just blithely assume all adults have experienced.
