Caitriona and Tony earlier today. Hi, Tony!
Lawsuit Accuses Former Associate of Harvey Weinstein of Rape
A former model has filed a suit against Fabrizio Lombardo and Disney.
Fabrizio Lombardo, the former head of Miramax in Italy and a close associate of Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of rape in a lawsuit filed on April 6 in New York State Supreme Court. The suit was brought by Sara Ziff, a former model and the founder of the Model Alliance, an advocacy group for models and fashion creatives.
The suit alleges that Mr. Lombardo, assaulted Ms. Ziff in a New York City hotel in 2001 when she was 19.
Ms. Ziff is suing Mr. Lombardo, as well as Mr. Weinstein, Disney and its subsidiaries Buena Vista and Miramax, for abuse and negligence under the Adult Survivors Act. The A.S.A., which was passed in May 2022, extended, until November 2023, the rights of sex crime victims to bring civil claims that would otherwise have expired under the statute of limitations.
Mr. Lombardo â whom Mr. Weinstein once credited with saving his life and whose 2003 wedding involved Mr. Weinstein as his best man â often figured on the sidelines of the many stories about Mr. Weinsteinâs predations on young women. He was named in the sexual harassment class action suit brought against the Weinstein Company and numerous related entities in October 2018. But this is the first time he himself has been accused of sexual assault in a court of law.
It is also the first time Ms. Ziff has spoken publicly about her own experience, despite being instrumental in helping others tell their stories of sexual abuse, specifically creating a help line for survivors at the Model Alliance.
âItâs taken over 20 years to process this,â she said in an interview in advance of filing the suit. âI couldnât even talk to anyone about it for the first few years, let alone imagine taking legal action.â When the A.S.A. was passed, however, she said she began to reconsider.
Efforts to reach Mr. Lombardo were unsuccessful. Disney did not respond to emails and phone calls requesting comment.
Imran H. Ansari, a lawyer for Harvey Weinstein, wrote in an email: âCertainly Mr. Weinstein had no control over any alleged conduct by Mr. Lombardo, nor would he have any reason to know what Mr. Lombardo was doing nor where Mr. Lombardo was at the time that Ms. Ziff alleges she was raped. As such, Mr. Weinstein firmly denies that he has any liability for the alleged conduct of another.â (Mr. Weinstein was sentenced to a combined 39 years in prison for sex crimes in New York and Los Angeles.)
According to the lawsuit, Ms. Ziff met Mr. Lombardo in 2001 when she was considering becoming an actress; her agents brokered the meeting. Mr. Lombardo later invited her to a screening of a Miramax movie and said it would be a chance to meet Mr. Weinstein, then at the height of his power in Hollywood.
After the screening, the lawsuit says, Mr. Lombardo invited Ms. Ziff for a drink at the Mercer and said both Mr. Weinstein and his brother, Bob, would be there. When Ms. Ziff arrived, Mr. Lombardo brought her to a penthouse suite, with no one else present.
The lawsuit says that after making advances and being told by Ms. Ziff she had a boyfriend, Mr. Lombardo âpivoted her around onto the bed on her back,â lay on top of her and raped her.
âMs. Ziff was in shock and lay in the bed, frozen. Mr. Lombardo fell asleep. Ms. Ziff woke up early the next morning, confused and alone in the hotel room. She walked home to her apartment, took a long shower, and cried,â the suit reads. The suit also says Ms. Ziff did not speak about the rape to anyone at the time. A few years later she told a fellow model, Caitriona Balfe (now an actress), about the assault.
Ms. Balfe confirmed that Ms. Ziff had told her about the rape during a fashion show season in Milan around 2005.
Ms. Balfe said she and Ms. Ziff never thought about making it public. âWe were so young, and the crazy thing is as models we were being put in these really compromising situations all the time, and you just kind of accepted them,â Ms. Balfe said.
Now 40, and the mother of a young daughter, Ms. Ziff acknowledged that while her experience may have shaped her decision to go into advocacy and become the public face of modelsâ rights, she herself had been reluctant to do what she helped other models do.
âI feel more comfortable focusing on the discussions around policy,â she said. She and the Model Alliance are currently working on a new bill, the Fashion Workers Act, which focuses on regulating management agencies in order to prevent these abuses from happening. Co-sponsored by State Senator Brad Hoylman, the bill was introduced in the New York state legislature last year and will be reconsidered during the upcoming legislative session, after it was not passed the first time.
However, Ms. Ziff said, she had spent the last decade talking to other survivors, and in helping other people, she began to feel it was âthe responsible thingâ to come forward.
âIâve been very anxious about it and at times wondered if I even want to go through this process,â she said. âIâve spoken to other people whoâve gone through it and every single one of them says itâs a nightmare. But no matter how much Iâve tried to ignore it or minimize it, this is not my burden to hold.â
In 2017 Ms. Ziff filed a report with the New York City Police Department, though it did not lead to any charges. That was the year Mr. Lombardo was accused by four women, including the actress Asia Argento and the model Zoe Brock, of being Mr. Weinsteinâs enabler â and employed by Miramax in part for that purpose. Mr. Lombardo emphatically denied the allegations in an interview with The New York Times.
Mr. Lombardo never appeared in court during the class action suit, and it was later settled as part of the Weinstein Company bankruptcy filing.
âIâve always been frustrated by the fact that those people seem to escape any kind of accountability,â Ms. Ziff said. She said that when the A.S.A. was passed, she remembered going to the bill signing with the governor and with other women she had come to know over the years who had spoken out about their abuse and trauma.
âIt felt like here was a real sense of possibility that perhaps we could do something about what happened,â she said, âeven if it happened a very long time ago.â

CaitrĂona Balfe, from Outlander, is married to an amazing fella called Tony McGill, whoâs a very good pal of mine⌠Now, Tony McGill manages a band you will know called The Fratellis⌠So thatâs what links Outlander to great music, Lauren Lyle, and me todayâ. â Gordon Smart
Remember⌠CaitrĂona Balfe is married to an amazing fella called Tony McGill. â Gordon Smart, BBC
Brianâs Notes: The interview is on Patrick Kieltyâs show, but stand-in Gordon Smart conducts the interview. Gordon is a Scot, married to a Scot. Tony was never The Fratellisâ producer. He is currently one of the bandâs managers. Lauren did not mention CaitrĂona prior to Gordonâs anecdote. Lauren did respond to the anecdote. #FactsAreFun
It's not new news. But always nice to add to the pile of proof.
Also, it's a great interview with Lauren for those interested in her career.
Did you see that Cait answered on Sam's birthday wishes on Twitter?! She got Waypoints!!!
Yes, Anon đ
But I'm not sure why you're so surprised or excited...Sam and Cait are friends and costars, why wouldn't he give her his new book? Seems totally normal and natural to me. đ¤ˇââď¸ Not a big deal at all. Cute, though.
OMFG! Actors who have worked with each other on the same show for nearly 10 years interacted with each other on Twitter!
What does it mean? There CLEARLY has to be some hidden meaning. Cait plugged HIS book on HER birthday.
Oh, I know! Baby number 14 is on the way and they desperately need to cover it up. They are obviously agreeing to this because they need the cash in order to keep their super secret REAL relationship hidden and Lionsgate/Starz is not only forcing them hide hide all their children but one, they've negotiated deals with everyone on the planet to make sure their relationship and family stay hidden.
Cait's sister is private on IG. Very insensitive to post a pic from a private account.
It wasn't from a private account, you dope. It was posted PUBLICLY by Cait's brother, David, on HIS Facebook. đ
Outlander fans have been leaving condolences on the funeral home's site, on Cait's family's social media accounts, they are all aware now that the fandom knows about her dad's passing. If David didn't want the pics shared, he would make his FB private, but he hasn't. So, you are wrong NO ONE is posting anything from a private account. Capisce?
PS. Anyone who has followed me long enough knows I don't take kindly to being "scolded" for what I post. I'm a grown woman and when I post something, I've made a conscious decision to post it. If YOU don't like it, that's on you. No one is forcing you to read my blog. But, don't come here telling me what to post or not post...or you'll get blasted...and if I haven't had my coffee yet...or have had my wine, depending on the time of day---you'll get blocked. Capisce, capisce? Love it or leave it.
Seriously. Some people really need to own their shit. Unfollow and move on. And if anon was so disturbed perhaps they can take their lecture to the "fans" commenting on the obit and offering condolences to Cait and Sam on SM. One thing is more disturbing than the other.
As a friend of Caitriona's I'm sure Sam is sad for her. But no one in their right mind is going to publish an obituary naming her husband real husband when they could easily have left it off altogether. What little we do know about Caitriona's father was that he was a respected police officer. Everyone he ever encountered that might see the obit and these dumb as fuck shippers honestly believe Starz is going to go around trying to track down everyone who might see it and pay them off? Ha!
Further more, Sam is most definitely in the US. How can anyone believe he's got a serious of latergrams sitting around in case of an unexpected family death in order to "hide the truth and stick with the narrative"? But hey, he paid the fans who saw him to hold off sharing until a death in Caitriona's family? That, btw, she never said ANYTHING about publicly.
Any fan who knows about this is already nosing around in their personal lives. As is knowing about your Tumblr @p-redux. If someone is here, they farted and want to blame someone else for the stench. Because yeah, no one should be using this as fandom fodder. But here we are. Here we all are.
One of the reasons I don't post much or check in regularly is my reason for even starting a Tumblr was to discourage shipper BS. It was my first go round with shippers and I now see how useless it was. Anyone who still buys into it or claims to believe it is either in it for the attention or an idiot. But I can admit, I'm still tempted at times.
@agardenandlibrary
ITS TIME
Weekend plans.
I bet the believers of Sam and Cait being married will be crazy. The mortuary lists Tony as a son in law. Oh, wait a minute, I bet the funeral home is involved in the scam too! I was unsure at first about SC, but for crying out loud, how much proof do people need? Hope your eyes are improving.
I wasn't going to post the death announcement but I've gotten so many Anons and DMs about it, that it seems the info is out there everywhere, and news of Cait's dad passing is even being posted in Irish outlets đ
The former garda sergeant has been described as a "great, dignified, caring, and highly respected and regarded man".
Soooo, I won't post the full death and full funeral info, only this snippet, showing TONY as one of Mr. Balfe's sons-in-law. đ
Anyone with half a brain and an ounce of common sense would realize that TONY is indeed Cait's REAL husband. Especially now that he's been NAMED in 2 official documents: a marriage certificate and a death announcement.
But, NOPE Extreme Shippers aka Tinhatters aka Delusionals never met a truth their pretzel brains couldn't twist, and predictably, they're already explaining it away. đ
And then this doozy đ
Gee, do ya think the grandchildren's names were left off on purpose so psychos like these âď¸wouldn't find out Baby McGill's name? That's why there's no kids names, ya dopes. đ¤Śââď¸ Cait KNOWS the info will get out, just like the marriage certificate did, she made sure her son was protected. That's all.
Anyhoo, this fandom is still the shitshow it's always been...and not even death will deter ES and their BS. SMH.
OK, my eyes hate me again, gotta go compress and eye drop.
What the actual fuck?
Look. I can own up to the fact I'm too nosey about their personal lives. But with this? Shippers seriously need to stop with their BS. That is line that should never be crossed.
They constantly are mad at Caitriona because she has called them out, repeatedly and correctly. Simply disgusting and I'm more convinced now than I ever was that SC shippers are really just thirsty for Sam and can't accept the fact that she didn't want him and they hate her for that. But for whatever reason, they gotta save face and keep selling their fiction.
Seriously. On what planet has any actor been so "controlled" by a studio that an Irish funeral home will publish an obituary lying about a man's family to hide the truth? How the fuck does anyone actually believe this?

Looks like Monica C was on a plane this morning. Will be interesting where she is travelling.. I heard the Outlander crew is on a break starting next week for about a month. Also, is Lauren Ltle and Ceasar done in Outlander or have you heard. Thanks. (I sure enjoy your posts)
Thanks again

Anon, it will be interesting to see where Monika is going. Outlander goes on a few weeksâ hiatus starting next week, supposedly July 16. I know some want Monika and Sam to see each other, I have my doubts. But I never say never. đ¤ˇââď¸ We shall seeâŚ
As for Lauren and Cesar, they were at Fenway Park in Boston, also Caitlin O'Ryan there. And the other man is Laurenâs guy, Patch aka Patrick Bell. đ
Thanks for stopping by, Anon, and for your kind words! â¤ď¸
As to the question about Lauren and Cesar, Marsali and Fergus become more background characters in the 7th book after leaving Fraser's Ridge in the book and on the show and Fergus begins working as a printer. I seriously doubt they are "finished" with it; just that characters are not involved in the major plots for this book/season.
Good morning Mr. Gaiman! I was wondering this morning about how the presence of a fandom affects (or doesnât affect) the business decisions that are made in the media and publishing world. Iâd be so interested to hear your thoughts on it as someone who has a foot so strongly planted in both worldsâI at least canât think of very many other creators who work on IPs as big as you do who are as engaged with and aware of the surrounding fandom culture as you are.
In your experience, are the studios and executive Powers That Be generally aware of the fandom cultures that surround their media properties? And is it considered a good thing, or more of a liability to an IPâs potential commercial success? When a show like Good Omens, or Our Flag Means Death, or Lucifer comes up for another season, are the studio execs aware or thinking about the active fandoms when they decide what gets greenlit? I would imagine that the scads of fan content and online chatter those fandoms have generated would be a good indicator for the success of those shows, but only if the decision makers knew about it and thought of it as a good thing, which of course not all creators do. Youâve shared with us a few very good reasons why some creative distance with fandom is strictly necessary at times. Is an active fandom something that a creator like you would consider part of the pitch when youâre trying to get more content greenlit? Or do the studios not get it or not care?
I think the truth is that for Networks the numbers of people in a fandom are so small, proportionally, to the numbers of viewers, that the fandom doesn't really even show up on anyone's radar. It was very important to me that the Good Omens fandom was treated well when we launched Season 1, but I doubt that Amazon or the BBC will be thinking much about the fandom when they plan the roll out for Season 2, as they already have an existing worldwide audience now in the hundreds of millions, and they will be aiming their promotion at those people and the people who have yet to try it, and not the fans. I'll remind them that Good Omens fandom exists as we get closer, and there are fans out there now in the promotional world (like whoever runs Prime Video's Twitter feed) but pretty much everything will be aimed at the viewers rather than the fans.
Studios and networks like knowing that there's an existing fandom, it reassures them, but it's never big enough to make a difference beyond the possibility of helping get something greenlit in the first place -- and that's not fandom, that's potential audience. The existence or non-existence of a Sandman fandom didn't help sell Netflix on greenlighting Sandman; the fact we've sold over a hundred million Sandman comics and graphic novels around the world definitely did.
As a writer, I realized in early 1989 that I had two choices: I could do things I knew would make fandom (back then, the early early Sandman fandom) happy, and risk making myself bored and dissatisfied, or make myself as the writer/creator happy and hope that enough of the fandom would come on the journey with me. I chose the latter route and it worked, and so it's the route I've always chosen since then.
Interesting take on the importance of fandoms when making decisions.
Maeve Foley does the majority of the double work for Claire/Caitriona. The other girl, Valerija, does some but not a lot. She just âtalks louderâ than the one who does the most work.
Not sure where you're getting that info, but Maeve is only listed as working on Outlander until 2019 on the official IMDB. đ
Her IMBD must be out of date, because Foley did work on S6. She's posted about it on her IG.
I believe, but am not 100% certain, that Maeve does B-roll footage as Claire, while Valerija, whose body type and height more closely resembles Caitriona's, does the main body double work.
Either way, Valerija doesn't "talk louder" about it (I don't think most people even knew about her until after Cait announced her baby). The ES are extra frothy over her because she said, after Cait announced her baby, the pregnancy was the reason she was employed full time on S6. She did nothing but ruin their already shot to pieces fantasy that Cait filmed pretty much every season pregnant with Sam's babies and that Sam and Cait enjoy sex scenes with each other.
Just got this in DM---pic of Cait and Tony last night at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party!
On a happier note...got multiple DMs about this one...Tony whispering something in Cait's ear, while reaching over for her hand. And look at that dreamy smile on her face. â¤
For those who say they "never" see any love between them. đ
Bonus: Timothee Chalamet shirtless. đ
Reblogging @whoreallyknowswho more Tait cuteness! Thanks!
Would love to know the brain pretzeling Extreme Shippers are going to engage in when they try to explain WHY...
Sam was at an Outlander private fan event in Kansas City that he is not under Starz Sony contract to attend--it was fan organized. đ
And NOT with "wifey" Cait at the BAFTAS where she was NOMINATED for an award? Wouldn't Sam have said no to fans or schedule it for another day and move Heaven and Earth to be by his Sassenach's side? Such a bad "hubby" Sam is. Why would anyone want to ship such a bad relationship? He's never with her on the most important days in her life.
But LOOK who is with Cait, supporting her, looking adoringly and proudly at her, smiling right next to her, as he has been for 8 YEARS, her REAL HUSBAND, Tony McGill. đ
Real love is better than fantasy. #tait
More pics of Tony and Cait looking happy and adorable together at the Baftas and for the Critics Choice Awards đ #tait
*sarcasm warning*
Haven't you heard the latest? The pap pics of Sam with MC was suppose to be his way of retaliating against Caitriona. She's hurting him deeply and he can't take it anymore.
When that didn't work, he revealed his relationship with Cait on What Happens Next when he said his ideal woman was an ex-model. Brooke Shields was hired to be a guest when he was on so it wouldn't be too obvious when he made the big announcement. Those damn antis will destroy his career, afterall, if the truth is revealed.
And yet, it's become too much for him so much so that he fell and hit is head because he was too focused on his broken heart at not being at Caitriona's side for the BAFTAS.
*end sarcasm*
All of this shit I've seen shippers say in the past week.
Fucking morons. It never ends.
Tim Downieâs wrap today! :) (x)
Technically Tim Downie and Maggie Service have been in Good Omens the longest. They were both at the first script read-through in August 2016. Maggie was Sister Theresa Garrulous in the first season, and is back for the second season too. Tim is⌠well, youâll see.
