OTP Challenge - #1: “A Selfie Together” - (2-15-19)

A day late for Valentine’s day and 14 days late for an “everyday” thing, but this piece is a lot more detailed than I expect any of the other ones I plan on making will be.

One of the settings of my story takes place in a modern-fantasy/sci-fi “alternate-history” version of Chicago set on a terraformed Mars called “Gale City.” This photo takes place in front of this city’s Cloud Gate in Millennium Park.

Notecard piece - Copic RV32 Test - (2-1-19) Got a thing in the mail today, should be getting a couple more later this month. I'm thinking on doing a similar thing to Inktober for February with them once I get the other color. Gonna do the "30-day OTP" thing with the two protagonists of the graphic novel I'm working on for Valentine's month. This won't be as stringent as Inktober for me though, posts will come out more casually so I don't end up rushing any of them. This is more just for fun than anything so when they do confer out I hope you'll like them! (As for the part Inktober piece, it was a bit too ambitious a project then I was able to tackle at the time, unfortunately. Inktober - Barghest - (10-18-18) Today's piece is of a Barghest, a fiendish wolf monster from Volo's Guide to Monsters. The Barghest is described in Volo's as a beast born from a vengeful god amongst goblins in the guise as one of them, but eventually in its life it gains the ability to transforms from a goblin into a large hideous wolf monster with a hunger for goblin souls. Inktober - Bats - (10-17-18) Today's piece is of bats. I coulda gone the stereotypical route of the vampire bat for Halloween but I feel like there isn't enough love for my favorite kind of bat, the Honduran white bat, so here's a little from me. Inktober - The Raven - (10-16-18) Today's piece I rolled a raven. In game a raven is a popular choice for a wizard or a witch's familiar. I got the sketch done of the raven atop a skull, then read through Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name while talking a break and in the poem the raven is on a pallas. I then proceeded to erase the whole damn thing and do it over. I'm happy with how it turned out, though. Fun fact this drawing is about as big as the Empyrean. Sketchbook Piece - Amity - (10-16-18) Inspiration strikes when it strikes, so here's a bonus ink pic since I skipped out that one day from allergies. The pic is of Amity, one of the main protagonists of the graphic novel I'm working on. She's a speedy young rebel with a burning sense of wanderlust. Inktober - Steel Predator - (10-15-18) Today's pic is of the Steel Predator, another monster from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. The steel predator, in layman's terms (cuz this thing gets kinda deep into d&d lore), is effectively an interplanar terminator robot created by a rogue AI from another dimension who was kicked off its super-lawful robot planet for trying to start a coup. It fled to a neutral kinda dimension-terminal city called Sigil, and created these killer robot tigers to collect quick bounty money for it. Alright I'll be the first to admit robotics aren't my forte. Inktober - Dretches - (10-13-18) Sorry for the late pic, allergies really kicked my ass last night so I went to bed early. I'm feeling better now though and I might try for another pic later tonight. Today's (yesterday's) piece is the Dretch. Dretches are fetid pig demons from the abyss that spit noxious clouds of poison. Inktober - Artemis and the Dryad - (10-12-18) Fort today's Inktober piece I rolled a dryad, a reclusive fairy spirit bound to a tree. I did some Wikipedia research after I had already started drawing and saw that in folklore dryads were most commonly associated with oak trees...after I had already drawn the weeping willow. Inktober - Empyrean - (10-11-18) Late drawing today but it's my biggest one so far so I think it's justified. This piece is of an Empyrean. In D&D, Empyreans are titanic, statuesque children of the gods. They're very similar to titans, and I believe they're kinda 5th editions version of them, but they're the children of the gods and Greek titans were the generation before the gods and...? Inktober - Banshee - (10-9-18) Today's piece is the Banshee. Finally starting to get into the more sp00ky monsters. In d&d, a Banshee is the ghost of a vain female elf who died before her time. They are unable to find rest and kill their victims with a wicked scream. I decided to use the ghosts from Bloodborne as reference for this piece. I feared that this piece might've been too graphic to post, but it is the Halloween month so hopefully it'll slide. Inktober - Goats - (10-8-18) Today I rolled goats. Yep. It is technically a stated creature in 5th edition D&D, so I happened to roll it. Inktober - Cyclops - (10-7-18) Today's Inktober piece is the classical Cyclops, a one-eyed giant of Greek mythology. I used Guido Reni's painting of Polyphemus from Homer's Odyssey as reference for this piece. I really love the neo-classical/renaissance oil-painting art style so I wanted to use a relevant piece for the body proportions. Inktober - Orc Claw of Luthic - (10-6-18)

Had to cheat a little with this one. Late post and also used pencil for a guideline. I thought my last one wasn't that great so I wanted to make up for it with this one. Went through two other attempts at this monster that were subpar, but I’m really satisfied with this one.

This monster is a variation of an orc found in Volo’s Guide to Monsters. These female orcs are pretty much the super-protective mama-bears of an orc tribe and pay homage to their mother deity Luthic.

Inktober - Poltergeist - (10-4-18) Today's Inktober drawing is the variant specter, the poltergeist. Anybody who's seen the Steven Spielberg film should know what they are, but in case you don't, they're confused and scared ghosts that manipulate objects and people with a kind of telekinesis.
