I do use the K. No I dont support crowley. No I will not stop it's not hurting anyone. No spelling a word does not make you xenophobic and accusing people of that is really damaging to truly problematic issues many people face in this community. Stop it and stop giving a dead shit stain this much power over you and your practice. I personally dont know any people who use this spelling who actually support crowley and most of them had no idea he had anything to do with popularizing it. Take it away from him it was not his to begin with and let him be forgotten.

Sometimes I forget Lughnasadh is a funerary festival as much as a harvest holiday; a memorial for Lugh’s foster-mother Tailtiu, whose dying efforts made it possible to cultivate the richest farmland in Éire; a holiday to remember that sacrifice gives way to great abundance. It is so easy to chalk Lughnasadh up to bread and apples. But sometimes, when I step outside, I can smell the distant autumn in the morning breeze – an ever-so-slight shift in the taste of the air, the smell of it, in the instants before the summer heat comes rushing over the plains like a wave – and I know the time of reaping is a time of death as much as abundance. Lughnsadh prepares the deathbed; the Equinox is the passing of the sun into darkness; Samhain mourns and memorializes. Lughnasadh reminds us that while it is still summer, it will soon come to an end, and it reminds us to prepare for what is ahead.

Summer never seems like it will last forever, but winter always does.

This year I was lucky enough to get a few days off to celebrate Litha so I decided to cook some fun food and then on the solstice I have some rituals planed, a cook out, and a bond fire! so for tonight I made homemade bread bowls using this bread recipe I found on YouTube and use for all my bread I love it! with just Campbell’s chunky chicken noodle soup.

Then I baked some stuff to snack on the next few days I made this Mead Moon cake I love, and some Lavender short bread cookies (that I covered in powdered sugar) which turned out amazing!

Summer Solstice/ Mead Moon Honey Cake

sorry this took me so long to post. I know the full moon and the solstice are already over, I just wanted to put this recipe out there because I made it for the first time and it was really good :) -picture by me-

CAKE: ~Ingredients~ 1 cup butter (softened) 1 cup honey (I used raw local honey) 1 ½ cups self-rising flour 3 eggs

1.) cream the butter and honey, then add the eggs. 2.) add the flour ½ cup at a time. 3.) pour into a greased 8 inch cake pan (I used a loaf pan) 4.) bake at 350 for about 45-50 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.

FROSTING: ~Ingredients~ 1 cup powdered sugar 1 tbsp. melted butter 1 ½ tbsp. milk 1 teaspoon honey

1.) warm up milk slightly and mix in the honey until dissolved. 2.) mix in butter and then powdered sugar.

after the cake is cooked and cooled down, slice it up and pour the frosting over entire thing :)

Lavender Shortbread For Litha

These cookies were relatively easy to make. I started the process last night and finished baking them this morning. They turned out how I wanted, and the traditional shortbread was enhanced by the fragrant home grown lavender I dried over the last 2 weeks. The taste will please anyone that loves lavender, as it’s very present, but not overwhelming. Perfect for Litha, but you’ll like them so much, you may find yourself making them again. I know I will.

Here’s my recipe:

Lavender Shortbread

1 cup salted butter (room temperature)

½ cup icing sugar

2 teaspoons dried lavender, suitable for baking

2 cups all purpose flour

In a food processor, pulse together butter, lavender and icing sugar, add 1 cup of flour, pulse, then add remaining flour and pulse until mixed together, scraping down sides as needed. (If you don’t have a processor, just use a large bowl and a hand mixer)  Cut two pieces of parchment paper roughly 9″ x 11″.Place dough on pieces of parchment paper, divide into two balls,and form dough into logs about 1½” in diameter. Wrap up in parchment, and chill 2-3 hours, or overnight. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 325°F. Cut a piece of parchment paper big enough to cover your baking sheet & clean up will be a breeze and cookies turn out nicer on the bottom. Cut cookies ¼” thick, (even, firm pressure, don’t rush, as cookie dough may crumble) Place on baking sheet evenly spaced apart, and bake for 10-14 minutes. (Oven temps vary, so check them after 10 minutes.) Remove from baking sheet, cool and store. (*If you like, lightly dust with icing sugar, but this step isn’t necessary, it just looks pretty!) Makes about 35 cookies.
