horizons | wicek & matthew
Matthew revealed himself once he heard Wicek’s voice and saw the tell-tale signs of the vampires being frozen in place. The necromancer had always been able to find him no matter where he was and it was because, as Wicek had put it, he was so attuned to his blood.
“Wicek…” the fallen angel replied, not quite smiling given the tense situation they were in. He lifted his hands as the earth beneath the vampires feet parted to swallow them down and bury them in the ground. “You’re quite right,” he said after breathing a sigh of relief. Stepping over the vampires, Matthew reached out for Wicek’s wrist and proceeded to drag them both away from there.
“Home first,” he said and opened a portal enough for the two of them to step through. It brought them into the living room of the home they had built together over the last few decades. Matthew enveloped Wicek into a tight hug once the portal closed behind them, certain that the wards around the house would hold up at least for awhile, and the moment he did, he felt a rush of relief flow through him as he pressed his face against the necromancer’s neck.

The most important thing was Matthew right now. He didn’t think he could save the council or the others in the castle but they could get out there and be safe. Together they could handle any vampire and it was proven when the ground opened up to drag the vampires beneath it. He easily took the fallen angel’s hand now that he didn’t have to focus on his magic. “Home,” he agreed, stepping through the portal behind him.
The familiar room was a huge comfort to him now, it was safe and so long as the wards stayed in tact, they would be okay for now. His arms wrapped around the fallen angel’s frame, his head dropping onto Matthew’s shoulder and breathed a sigh of relief. The last hour had been more stress than he’d felt in years and he was so grateful that Matthew was okay. “Thank god, your safe. I was worried,” he murmured softly. His hand came up to cup the back of the man’s head, holding him for a long moment.
Pulling back, he cupped his cheeks and looked him over. It was hard to hurt the fallen angel but he was still fearful of it happening. “We should really get away from here. We can come back when things simmer down but I’m expecting the vampire’s are going to want my head on a spike.” He didn’t want to pull Matthew away from the home he shared with Elio but they couldn’t stay. People knew where they lived and they would exchange that information for safety.
