Boomerang Bags workshop (at Sustainable Fleurieu Coast)
me two weeks ago: I use reusable containers and shit to lessen my impact on the environment
me after reading a book about the impact of plastic: PLASTIC IS EVIL AND NEEDS TO DIE AND YOU ARE ALL STUPID AND LET'S GO TO THE FARMER'S MARKET AND FILL OUR MASON JARS AND GO DO A BEACH CLEAN-UP
Sometimes the simple things make a big difference in our environment. Do you choose to reuse?
Zero Waste Tips
Whenever you go out, bring with you:
-a reusable water bottle filled with water (this prevents the purchase of plastic water bottles)
-an empty reusable coffee mug that can be filled during your travels, or a full reusable cup mug that you filled at home (prevents paper coffee cups and gives you a discount at many coffee shops, including Starbucks)
-some kind of small cloth that can be used in place of napkins, tissues, and paper towels
-at least one reusable shopping bag (I have one I bring everywhere that folds up into a little square pouch)
-a reusable container (useful if you eat out and have take home food)
Every one of us has the opportunity, and the responsibility, to change the world.
It is up to individuals to stop this from happening. Don’t wait for the government to change the law, you can create the change.
There are so many simple ways to reduce ocean pollution and we are all responsible for doing our bit.
HUGE NEWS!
Woolworths Australia has today announced that all stores around the country will ban single use plastic bags by July 2018!!
[UPDATE: 3 hours after this announcement, Australia’s other giant supermarket Coles, also declared they would phase out free, thin plastic bags within 12 months!!!]
Woolworths is one of Australia’s largest supermarkets, this is a massive win for our oceans!
This supermarket chain currently hands out over 3.2 billion single-use bags every year, shoppers will now have to bring their own bag or pay 15c for a thicker reusable bag.
Well done to everyone who has supported the #banthebag campaign!!
Now it’s time for NSW, VICTORIA & WA to BAN THE BAG!!
Come on: Gladys Berejiklian Gabrielle Upton Daniel Andrews Mark McGowan Nothing stopping you now!
