Chapter 9 - Flight
Mark and the love-struck Prince find evidence that the Captain is still alive. However, it may be too little too late, as the Captain discovers a threat designed to block his way home.
Chapter 8 - Hell
The Captain finally gets a chance to finally slow down and breathe. He learns more about this strange planet he's trapped on, as well as the people who are trapped with him. Meanwhile, Mark and the rescue team run into a terrifying new complication.
IRON LUNG dir. Mark Fischbach
Chapter 7 - Otherworld
The Captain is finally able to find himself again. He then proceeds to find someone who needs saving. Mark is just trying to find him before it's too late.
Okay so I’m working on Chapter 7 of King’s Ransom bit by bit and it’s all going well. I’m almost done.
The problem is I made the mistake of binge-watching every single episode of Word Wise’s reaction to Chad Daybell’s stupid religious printed fiction on YouTube between this chapter and the last.
If you know who Chad Daybell is…. You know lmfao
The plus side of this, I’m now much, much, much more confident in my writing than I was before.
The minus is that now I will catch the characters saying things like “that makes sense!” And now I just hear it in Kit’s voice when she’s doing an impression of Chad’s characters saying something dumb 😆
Which is not her fault at all and 100,000% Chad’s for being an awful writer and having his characters say “that makes sense!” To shit that absolutely does not make sense lmao
Anyways I just nearly had a character say “that makes sense” to something.
And I paused 😆😆😆
And I was like yeah I’m gonna change that line ahahahah
Chapter 6 - Escape
The Captain is finally free, but that doesn't exactly solve any of his problems. Mark is in hot pursuit, but still finds time to give a spoiled prince a reality check.
So I had a question on a03 asking for a height comparison between Mark and Thomas, and I realized that google almost definitely could point me to a website that would help me to illustrate this and they did! And I did not realize it but man what a helpful tool for other fanfiction writers yanno lol
So here as you can see, I have Mark labeled at his actual height. (At least also according to google if I’m wrong I’m sure I will be corrected)
Then I have Thomas labeled beside him and as you can see… bit of a difference lol.
Also, for fun, I added Prince Vaelor because why not.
Also as I’m working on chapter 6 of King’s Ransom I’m realizing that these height differences make a particular scene I’m planning there just inifinitely funnier. So you have that to look forward too lmao.
Also if you would like the website for your own fanfic (or just writing in general) services I’m placing the link here. I’m a person who likes to have a lot of visual references when I write so I’m thoroughly glad I discovered this.
Chapter 5 - Romance
The prince believes he's claiming the future he's always wanted. The Captain spends the day sick, exhausted, and increasingly cornered. And now, Mark is on his way to set things right.
happy iron lung day to all who celebrate
Chapter 4 - Hostage
The Captain is exhausted, far from home, and struggling to hold himself together. Upon reaching his breaking point, he realizes he finally needs to find help.
Chapter 3 - Breathe
The Captain and Celci are invited to attend a play with the royal court, and back on the Invincible II, Mark uncovers a veritable mountain of evidence for how his charge was injured. Old wounds reignite past traumas and bring the Captain closer to disaster than ever before.
Chapter 2 - Dynasty
Mark tries to help a little girl through a difficult discovery, while the Captain does his best to navigate diplomacy, politics, and the wandering eye of the Queen's favorite child.
So idk how i would ever make this work but one of these days I’d love to have as a random subplot in my ongoing In Space With Markiplier series where Thomas finds Simon, rescues him from the blood ocean, brings him on board the Invincible
And that’s it
No great romantic scene or anything like that, Simon never becomes a major character. Sometimes he’s in the background for other scenes being traumatized and confused by the Invincible II and their found family bs
Mark has a moment to be like huh he kinda looks like me oh well, moves on
For some reason this idea is fucking hilarious to me
Mostly I’m amused at the idea of the reader being like oh come onnnn give him something
Meanwhile *Simon walks in on Thomas and Mark in a couples fight, he looks to his left, looks to his right, very quietly backs out of the room, and doesn’t come back for the rest of the story*
King's Ransom Chapter 1 - Heaven
The Captain visits a distant planet in an attempt to negotiate a badly needed alliance for the Invincible II. Unfortunately he isn't terribly well-versed in the art of diplomacy, and to make matters worse, there's an exalted warrior prince constantly making eyes at him.
In the meantime, Mark stays behind to lead the Invincible II, and discovers his and the captain's young charge is hiding a terrible secret.
Fun fact I had two different versions of chapter 8, because I had two different endings in mind, and when I posted this last chapter, I was afraid I posted the wrong one and I had to go back and check
Chapter 8 - The Prodigal Ones
The survivors of the massacre on the Invincible II struggle to put their lives back together, while Mark and the Captain work to learn what 'normal' looks like for each other now.
