A Welcome for New Fans!

Hello all you new Starkid fans and welcome to our little corner of tumblr! We’re glad to have you! There’s so much wonderful content for you to enjoy, and I’d like to give you a tour of some Starkid projects and some projects Starkid members have participated in!

Starkid has 11 other musicals besides TGWDLM that are completely free on their YouTube channel! I’d recommend Black Friday, Trail To Oregon, Twisted, and Starship which are my personal favorites (my favorite being TGWDLM)/ They also have a series they performed during quarantine called Nightmare Time that exists in the Hatchetfield Universe!

If you watched all their musicals and you’re looking for more, I’d recommend Spies Are Forever by the Tin Can Brothers! They are kind of like a sister company to Starkid and have all sorts of fun sketches and shows on their YouTube channel! They’ve also performed other fun shows like Solve It Squad and just put out a web series called Wayward Guide! (Note, those last two aren’t musicals)

If you’re looking for more of a serious musical, check out Starry, a musical about Vincent Van Gogh! This is a completely independent show, but it features several familiar faces and some wonderful and emotional music!

If you want more great and similar content, I’d recommend watching Poe Party and The Case of the Gilded Lily by Shipwrecked Comedy! I You can find their channel here! Much like Tin Can Bros, they are associated with several Starkid members but are not Starkid.

Are you more of a fan of classic musical theatre? Well several Starkids have been a part of the hilarious Shitty Broadway which takes musical theatre songs and gives them a twist. (My personal favorite is Lauren Lopez’s Waving Through a Window, which I’ve actually drawn in the past!)

im very sorry to plague my starkid mutuals' dash with another post for dsmpblr but

joining a new community is weird when you don't know their rules/shit to avoid, so if you wanted to know here are some of them!

First and foremost, do not be weird about the actors. They are part of the Team Starkid company and play roles. That's it. A lot of them have social media presences/YouTube channels. Talking about them is okay, but please remember respect their boundaries! And remember that Starkid is their job, do not ask them questions about it unless the situation calls for it, Starkid is not the only thing they do. They're not like mincraft youtubers in terms of fame.

Some Starkid actors are dating each other/are married. Do not ship them please, their private lives are none of your business. (This is the main thing we used to have a problem with as a community)

We also have some discourse about some fictional ships (mainly tedgens and barnsroe). Please respect that some people in the fandom have problems with them, and follow their dni.

Be aware that Starkid is a very old tumblr community. A lot of people have been mutuals here for years. We are used to being a small community, and dsmplr is a HUGE one. Please respect that some people will prefer that you don't interact with them. It's nothing personal, the community has just being the same for a very long while.

And hey, new people, you'll get the hang of this quickly I promise! There's no reason to feel intimidated if you decide to stay. Plenty of people here will be willing to talk about starkid with you as a newcomer, give you recommendations for shows and curiosities/details about the shows. I'm always open to talk about it if you need to.

Just remember to not flood the tags, and please and respect the community and the actors' boundaries. That's something you are mostly already mindful of, so we shouldn't have a problem. Enjoy the shows!

aaaah movie night was so fun! btw if you really liked tgwdlm & want to check out other starkid musicals, i would recommend the following:

1. black friday (sequelish, you’ll see)

2. twisted (aladdin parody, pov of jafar, AAAAAAH HYPE HYPE HYPE)

3. trail to oregon (based on that one game & so goddamn hilarious)

4. avpm series (harry potter parodies, actually very very popular & starring darren criss!)

5. holy musical batman (batman parody, trust me on this one i’m telling you the songs are so good just TRUST ME AAAH)
