She Wolf - David Guetta
“What do you see in those yellow eyes?” u.u
“is there somebody who can love you?” from jaeyi
The words bring back a flash of faces. A boy who loved her but who she could never love the way he deserved, a woman who viewed her as her sister who loved her so hard that their lives became so intimately intertwined that when she died, so did Kalena. And two little girls, two little girls with mixed features of a brother Kal adored and a woman who was her soulmate. Two girls who now were leagues away from her, waiting for her to come back to them. She would only see them once more before she threw herself into the mercy of battle, where she would hack her way to Karsi's walking corpse, where she would finally give mercy to the woman who taught her what love truly was meant to be. Where she would continue hacking and slicing until she got as close to that damned Night King, where she would kill him, should live long enough to see it.
The words sting, but only slightly. Kalena had long since accepted the fact that no one could love the woman she'd grown to be since Karsi's untimely death. Since the cold wrapped its way around her once the gentle heart and squeezed, squeezed until it popped. Until it no longer existed, and in its place became ice. Beating within her just as it beat within the death of her loved ones. The wild woman blinked, batting her eyelashes for a moment in thought. Then those cold eyes lifted to squint up at the sky.
"No. There is no one living who can."

Like this for a randomly picked poem-inspired starter!
jcnsncws:
step after step, the ground crumbled beneath the weight that had been placed upon jon’s shoulders; it had truly started when he was elected lord commander and it only grew heavier with every mission outside castle black, all to bring all the living people together, wildling or not. one would think that death would be the ultimate release from such responsibilities, that it would bring nothing but relief, but jon had been dead and there was nothing —- no comfort, neither warmth or ice. just a whole lot of nothing. and there was a whole lot of everything where the living walked so it hadn’t been hard to choose his side in the only war that mattered. he didn’t fight for a king, he didn’t fight for land or honor —- he fought for the living. and that’s what he would do until the day he met death again, and this time, in a more permanent way.
there was something calming about the darkness in which he found himself in, his only company his beloved direwolf. ghost stood almost as tall as him, only a foot shorter and had still not finished growing. as he walked, only the light beam of the moonlight lighting his way, jon could only hear silence. the night didn’t scare him, not when the long one was already all around them and the dead came with it.
jon kept walking, with no particular place in mind. all he could hear calling was the faint sound of the ocean, growing louder and louder with each few steps he took. ghost had been walking a few feet behind him, doing some exploring of his own and for a few moments, jon found himself completely alone —- no men around him, none of his family or friends, not even foes. it was as if he could breathe freely now. he felt at ease for one moment, without the looming thought that all he had brought back with him were news of a dead army marching their way, ready to take every man, woman and child.
after a few minutes, his pace came to a halt when he saw a dark figure, their back to him and their words echoing through what seemed like an endless forest. the lord commander chose to say nothing; he barely felt like saying anything that didn’t fall on a completely necessary basis. it was as if talking took more of him than fighting did; perhaps it was because he was so used to fighting and not used enough to talking ( which he only did when he had to convince people to march with them against the dead ). a familiar face came to view the moment they turned around: kalena, a wildling that he remembers seeing next to karsi, more often than not. “something like that,” the king crow ( as he had been called once ) said, rolling his shoulders to adjust the heavy black cloak. for a moment, he wondered how far ghost was.
“i’m sorry if i’ve interrupted.” although she had clearly not been doing anything, sometimes people doing nothing were the ones that were less fond of being taken from that pseudo-peace —- jon being one of them.
Kal was good at reading people. A skill she was both fond of and hated all at once; it was both a blessing and a burden to know what another person was feeling. She saw the fear on her people's faces, even while they laughed and joked. She could see that people were concerned about the war to come, afraid of the people they would lose. Kalena would feel that fear too, if she was capable of handling anything other than anger. If she could feel anything but that anger without getting the rush of that overwhelming sadness that followed any other emotion. The sadness for a soulmate long lost, a soulmate who, despite being dead, was forced to march for the enemy she'd been campaigning against. The sadness for a man that had loved her, but whom she was incapable of returning the same love. The sadness for a pair of little girls, whose only family left on in this damned planet was incapable of caring for them as they deserved. Kalena was never a sad girl. Was always laughing and smiling, being sarcastic and playful with the people around her. Kal did not know the woman she was today.
Jon Snow, she could see with this bittersweet gift, was not in the right place. She could see the stress that sat on his shoulders, the underlying fear that lay in his heart. She could see that this was weighing him down, heavier than that silly crow's cape that he pranced about in. Heavier than anything he had lifted before; a strong boy he was, but not strong enough, not enough to take such burdens by himself. Had she been the girl she was before trauma ripped its way through her once soft heart, Kalena would have tried harder to take some of that weight from him. She still would try, but not as hard as the happy girl that died at Hardhome.
"I wasn't doing anything at all really." She admitted, eyes squinting back over the water, looking, looking for anything. "I felt as if... Maybe if I stared long enough, that pesky Night King would feel my glare. Know that while winter is here, the storm hasn't hit, but it will, and when it does, he will fall." She murmured, using the words she had once heard him utter in response to the things happening around them: Winter is coming. Her eyes drift back to the man that her people now followed, joined under the desperate need to survive, to outlive and outlast the things that were already dead. A good reason to come together if there ever had been, the Free Folk, much like these people south of the wall, did not necessarily get along with people from other Tribes. Karsi had fought a few leaders just trying to get them to follow this boy from the Nights Watch. But all of them, differences aside, did what they could to fight. After all, there were no tribes here. There were two sides: the dead, and the living. And everyone wanted to stay living.
Her head tilted. She had viewed Jon as her leader since Kari's passing. She followed him only because Karsi would have wanted it in the beginning, but she had grown to know that it would've been a personal choice even without her Soulmates input on it. King Crow had good intentions, and he was a leader at heart, even if he did not wish to be or did not think he was. If she could replace Karsi, which she couldn't, she would replace her with him. Until she could get face to face with the monster that forced her sister to walk the earth after her demise, she would follow Jon Snow to the end of the world.
"You seem to have a lot on your mind, boy. What is it that troubles you so?"
@jcnsncws
A she-wolf stood near the edge of a lake, overlooking the calm waves, with the moon shimmering on its surface. Her eyes are cold, stable, staring in one direction only, her mind wrapped around a mission that would end in death, hers and so many others. A second-in-command left to avenge her leader. The predatory gaze is unwavering, even as the sound of footsteps crunching over the ground and in her direction. These people that surrounded her did not scare her any; she was a lethal weapon honed in the North, a place where these cowardly people dared not go in centuries, and those who did go often did not go on their own terms; all form of will lost to the vows most were forced to make to join the nights watch. But she had nothing to fear of those who had seen the things she had seen, who had the bravery to venture into her homeland. Nothing to worry for they were her allies currently, and even yet... Kalena was confident in her abilities. None of those little boys stood a chance, should the wolf wish to devour them.
"It would do you well not to sneak up on a person like that." Her words are cold, carried by the winds. Her eyes drifted for a moment over the ocean before them. She knew none of the names of the places she ventured these days. She merely followed orders, following Jon Snow wherever he thought they were needed. It was what Karsi would have wanted, it's what Karsi would have done had she survived Hardhome. Her soulmate had trusted the boy, and Karsi was not a trusting woman. It said something about the fate that would be bestowed upon them. If Kal did not follow him, not only would she be turning her back on her sisters wishes, but atop it all, she'd be leading herself no doubt into a fate of terrible demise. She would not and could not leave her nieces until it was time to bring down the Night King himself. Karsi had prepared them both well enough that they could survive, and in the coming days, Kalena would make sure they would be able to become accustomed to being alone, they would only have each other in this world. If this world survived.
Her head finally turned, finding herself looking at the heavy-cloaked boy that her thoughts had been on. Squinting a little, the wild woman turned to place one hand delicately upon her hip, curious as to what brought their appointed leader into the wilderness that surrounded the camp they'd found themselves in. It was not often these days that she found him without company; surrounded by his people and his family, she'd guess that he had a much busier schedule than the regular soldiers that her people were. Besides, he was propelling the cause to lead them north so they could fight the enemy that had been breathing down their necks for so long.

i suck so like this for a starter pls,
“ … is there something you want? “ ~ Aelena
There were many things Kalena wanted: a lover that she was capable of loving in return, her sister to be alive once again, her brother to be alive, for the world to not be ending. But there was only one thing that she was remotely capable of getting: revenge.
"We all have things we want, do we not?" The words are flat, and the wild woman blinked at the other, curious as to what brought up the question. Perhaps she had been staring, but Kalena never really realized when she did things like that. It was unintentional, most of the time, the girl was just focused on her thoughts.

zcldrizcs:
“ i grew up on stories of dragons as well. “ tales of aegon upon balerion the dread had been viserys favourite. often he considered himself as aegon , making all of westros come to his heel. and she had been fascinated when three petrified eggs had been gifted to her at her wedding. she’d spend hours simply watching them lay in their chest.
” i’m sure the fires in their bellies will keep them warm. “ or they’d burn away the snow and lie in a heated bath and refuse to leave. as she smiled at the thought , dany wished the same for herself. the heated water of a bath stinging her skin was when she felt most comfortable. “ drogon , rhaegal and viserion. named for my late husband and elder brothers. “
"That's an honorable way of deciding names," She mused quietly, dipping her head in acknowledgment. Inevitably the Queen had faced many losses since those of her parents; not that Kalena considered those to be significant losses for the girl. Had she grown up legitimately the Princess of Westeros, she would have never ascended to being Queen, and if she had, it would not be by the decisions of her own making, or rather, it wouldn't be in done so in a way that could be viewed as positively as the one she currently had. Better off, she was, without the influence of a line of savages that had ruined so many peoples lives. Kalena grew up nowhere near that madness, but she had heard the stories, listened to the tales, and knew that it would be no King of hers, and no Targaryen would be any friend of hers. But she also knew that they were not their blood, not their fathers.
Her eyes drifted to the dainty little dragon mother, and her head tilted curiously. "How do you think you'll handle an army of the undead?" The question is spoken casually, clearly, the woman had no real interest in the outcome of this war. She was only here to avenge the fallen, and nothing more. "I would think those children of yours would wipe out thousands in one puff. But they are dead... And the dead will continue to surprise us, no doubt."
zcldrizcs:
she notices how the wildlings’ eyes focus on her children out over the sea. and , much to her relief , she doesn’t see fear. many looked upon her children with terror in their eyes and it saddened her. yes , she knew they often deserved it. they were descendents of the beasts that made the whole of westeros bow down to aegon. they were fire made flesh and had tasted people before. but they were her children and nothing they did would ever douse the love she held for them. she only wished people could see past the teeth and fire to the wonder they held.
daenerys nods , unsure of what to say in response. she hadn’t grown up the way wildlings did ; relying completely off of yourself for survival. she’d never skinned an animal , nor hunted one. it was deemed unacceptable for one such as her self.
“ i don’t believe so , “ she replies , lilac eyes also falling on her children. “ they were rasied completely in the warmth of essos. i don’t know how they will fare in the cold. if their fires will keep the cold at bay , or if they will become sluggish like another reptile would. “ and she expected to find out sooner rather than later. eventually she’d bring them to the snowy north.
A hum of acknowledgment left the young wild woman at the words the queen had to say. Informal in everything that she was doing, she wasn't concerned. She was no Queen of hers, and besides, Kalena bowed to no one. She saw people as people and nothing more. "I have only heard stories of these ferocious beasts." She admitted, nodding her head towards the floating creatures in the sky. "My father use to whisper about them in the middle of the coldest winter nights. Mother would get mad and say that such things were legends now, and not ones our little ears needed to hear. I am glad he spoke of them."
She tugged her pelt closer to her skin, seeking its comfort before she continued. "For how well they are faring here, I am sure they will continue to keep their warmth. But they are still just animals, much like us, they will feel some discontent at the cold no doubt. Only the Northerners enjoy that frigid cold, and even then, we still complain about it." Her breath comes in the form of a puff, what should have been a laugh, if her heart had not frozen. "What are their names?"
plot with my little wild girl!!!
ofvelcryon:
Unfamiliar lands were something that she was no longer a stranger to and she had learnt to adapt to them the as quickly as possible when any show of weakness was something she craved to avoid. Once the House of Velaryon had been the closest allies of royalty and now their house was almost nothing thanks to the mistakes of her parents. In no way did she want to be linked back to their weakness and complacency which was why her head was always held high and sharp mind and tongue were always prepared for combat.
( She might be able to use a sword thanks to the careful tutelage of her brother but her weapon of choice would always be words when they could carry just as much weight as the heaviest of blows and wound just as deeply as the sharpest of blades )
However such shows of strength and determination, not just for the masses but for the sanity and well-being of her daughters too had a tendency to take their toll no matter how she fought it. The same stubbornness and resistance that allowed her to be so resilient was also something of a curse as it left her craving the soothing sounds of an ocean to preserve her strength of mind. She was always reluctant to leave her girls but her soul was singing for the sea that she had been deprived of for so long and so with them safely tucked up asleep and guards standing over them, Aelena had stolen away into the starry night.
Waves gently crashing against the shore enticed her forward, feet following the soft lapping without thinking, thought and direction unneeded for once. Something about the ocean had always resonated deeply within her and she could never quite decide whether it was because of the potential for wildness and unpredictability it possessed or how it could at times look so calm while hiding fathoms worth of depth beneath smooth waters.
Moonlight cast a shadow over the beach, footsteps muffled by the soft sand underfoot. Fine skirts were lifted up slightly toes could be placed at the edge of the water, waves flowing back and forth over them. She had not been entirely unaware of the stranger but she had not expected words to leave their lips. For a moment the blonde gives pause for thought and lets the silence hover between them. “I do not think the night can ever offer up anything that is not already within you.” Melodic musings are carried easily through the still night air despite the soft volume with which they fell from her lips. “A more willing canvas for you to paints yours thoughts onto perhaps.”
Kalena watched the strange woman with curious eyes. Not many ventured this far from camp this late at night; she'd come to notice that these south of the wall women were softer than the ones she was used to. The women she'd grown up with were fierce warriors. They slew everything that threatened them or their people. She supposed in a sense, these women had held similar characteristics. She'd noted that the mothers here were very protective - typically - of their young. She'd witnessed many a woman throwing snide words in the honor of their children and their men. She'd some spit and hiss, though those were usually the northern women. They held the fire of the wild women, for sure. It was clear that there was some kind of linkage with them. Many of them reminded her much of her mother, of Karsi. But she felt as if this woman was not the same; there was something other than utter fearlessness that dragged her to the ocean on this fateful, beautiful night.
A small hum fell from curious lips, and the wild woman lifted herself carefully off the sands, holding the fur close to her chest. She had no real sense of modesty; her body was beautiful, and she was well aware of it. Many a man and woman had worshiped it before this coldness that had coated its way around her beating heart. But she knew that it was not the same down here as it was in her home; nudity was seen slightly more taboo, it seemed. And yet, Kalena was not entirely concerned about what the stranger had to say about her bare skin, glowing beneath the light of the moon. She would happily defend her right to lay her soul bare before the Gods and stars and whatever else existed around her.
"That is correct." She replied quietly, making her way towards the water where the woman stood, rough fingers gripping the soft fur of her cape. "It definitely opens up the mind more than the sun does, I believe. The ocean helps as well. Coaxes these thoughts that hide in the back of our minds to the forefront. Allows us to realize the things that we cannot do at random." The words are careful, casual. The she-wolf felt so much more at home under the light of the moon than she did under the heat of the sun, felt more natural and relaxed in the wilderness with the blanket of the night being her own scrap of clothing.
wildwolfed:
where: outside the the stark encampment when: mid afternoon who: kalena / @wiiildliiing
he may be a stark , but he was no leader or commander. he hadn’t grown up like robb had. his eldest brother had been groomed to rule while rickon had fled from winterfell at a young age. he had grown up on an island of fabled cannibals and unicorns and raised by a wildling. was he even a stark anymore in anything but name ? surely not to the soldiers. they all looked at him like they would a wildling. nor did it help when shaggy was by his side. his wolf was untamed and would often snap at those that got too close.
so he often avoided the bulk of the soldiers in favor of the wilderness around where they set up camp. here he was more comfortable than if they were surrounded by thousands of bannermen with weapons at their sides. out here he could hear the animals in the distance and feel the directions of the wind. shaggy must’ve felt the same , as once they were well out of the boundries of the camp , the grown direwolf loped happily ahead. it wasn’t long before he was out of sight. rickon didn’t worry too much , however , as he knew the wolf would return by his voice.
perhaps an hour had passed when he spied a figure further ahead. grey eyes then found the form of his wolf a good distance away , sniffing persistantly at what seemed to be a rabbit’s burrow. too far away to come to his immediate help. but he had a shortsword strapped to his side , should he need it.
he approached the figure , hand resting on the weapon. “ you’re with jon , right ? “ her clothing gave away where she was from , and he hoped it meant he could trust her.
Since following Jon snow into the pit of Westeros, surrounding herself on every end with people who would sooner rather see her dead than alive, Kalena had found a love for escaping the crowd. A woman once who was friendly and easy to get along with had morphed into a bit of a lone wolf. She often found herself sneaking away from the soldiers, not a fan of their pointed or curious gazes or their snide remarks. Had it not be for the order from her commander that they make peace with the people south of the wall, Kalena knew that she would've thrown a good many men off their horses, and proceed to rip them to shreds like the she-wolf her people considered her. Instead, the beast was calm. She prowled around the outskirts of camps, baring her canines at any that came too close to her.
She'd been wandering through the forest, hunting for a dinner when the youngest of the Stark children stumbled upon her. She was not surprised, having caught a glimpse of the fierce direwolf that followed the pack around consistently earlier. The domesticated beast had taken an interest in the rabbits she'd been hunting, so she took it upon herself to find a new prey when the boy had spoken.
Callous gaze glided over the wilderness until she was staring at a young man that looked more feral than the rest. The Stark men were a bit rougher around the edges, she'd taken note of that, but this one was more... Wild than the rest. He seemed more like one of her people than these strange south of the wallers that she was forced to be around. Jon rarely spoke of his family to the wildlings past their roles in this war, so she hadn't heard much about any of them. Knew that Robb was a strong king in the North, knew that Sansa was a sharp-minded Princess, knew that Arya was a warrioress, and knew that Bran was... Different. Knew nothing of the little one that stood before her now. Nose twitching with curiosity and caution. "I do, boy." The words are rougher than intended, and wary eyes dart towards the direction she last saw the wolf. She'd seen how this worked with Ghost and Jon; if one of these kids were in danger those creatures knew it, and she knew first hand that they were more than capable of tearing off limbs.
"You must be the littlest wolf." She commented, straightening her back a little. It would do her well to not be overly rude to the Stark boy. Not only was he kin to her commander, but he had a creature that she had no intentions of willingly engaging with. "I can't say I've heard much of you, wild wolf. Though I can see that you don't seem to fear us free folk much... In fact, I would say you let one of those blind old men dress you." The jab is playful, meant to lighten the tense air she'd created in her ruder greeting. "My name is Kalena. I've followed Jon since the massacre at hardhome."

❝ And who could be more pliable than a simple girl, playing at the throne? ❞
❝ Hatred makes monsters of all of us. ❞
❝ I am going to give the wrong impression, wearing this. ❞
❝ You mean a good impression? ❞
❝ She would not wish any part of herself away. ❞
❝ It is easier to build than to destroy. ❞
❝ What a luxury honesty was. ❞
❝ Did he know everything, too? Were none of her humiliations private? ❞
❝ Are you sure you do not want curtains? ❞
❝ I hate this castle and every room in it. I do not care what it looks like. ❞
❝ The last caravan they robbed had been filled with fine clothing. ❞
❝ Well, I thought they might be pretty. ❞
❝ But, certainly, they can double as weapons. You are very practical. ❞
❝ That would fit better if it were designed for a man. ❞
❝ But it set off the color of your eyes so nicely. ❞
❝ Do not blaspheme, young man. ❞
❝ But roughly two men in support for every one man fighting. ❞
❝ How can our God ever withstand the ferocity of this faith? ❞
❝ That still leaves sixty thousand? Seventy thousand? ❞
❝ No one will be more brutal than me. No one will be more ruthless. ❞
❝ Too much spark leads to explosions. ❞
❝ But your sister will destroy as much as she can before she goes out. ❞
❝ She will go down in flames and blood. ❞
❝ He would die on the wall tonight, between his brothers and his enemies. ❞
❝ They had finally come to the end. ❞
❝ Whichever side won, neither would triumph. ❞
❝ He sent none to me when I took my throne in spite of him. ❞
❝ You did not choose right. ❞
❝ She would have to cut her way through the world, uphill, for the rest of her life. ❞
❝ I would have visited the privy, not asked for an audience with you.❞
❝ Her merits, her accomplishments, her strength would never speak for themselves. ❞
❝ I want you to find that same love. ❞
❝ Everything else can fall by the road and be trodden underfoot as we pass to our home. ❞
❝ By my estimations, there are almost two hundred thousand men out there. ❞
“i’m thinking… i’m thinking i was a lonely, helpless person, and i might have fallen in love with the first thing to show me a hint of kindness and safety.”
lips part, eyebrows knitting together, curious eyes rested on the Dragon Queen that had allowed herself to become soft and vulnerable before her. she guessed that it was true that they were allies, Kal would follow her from here on out, if that is what Jon asked of her. but by no means did she expect the Queen to believe it acceptable to let herself lower her barriers in such a personal way. though the words did hit home with the wild woman, her mind drifting to a rough man with the smile of a mischevious boy, with the heart of someone who has never known heartbreak, a man who was strong and powerful and unbearably cocky. a man who she had begun to develop feelings for, but a feeling that she had no right developing. she had only grown used to being someone he had loved, but day bled into night, and she had to release him, so that someone who was capable of loving him the way he was capable of loving them, could snatch him up.
"despite being the mother to dragons, you are only human, Daenerys. these are human emotions, those are human things to do. I believe we are all guilty of enjoying the company of someone we have no right to be with." Her eyes drift from her, going out to the stars that had covered them. She wondered where her lover was; was he even alive? Kalena had gone out of her way to avoid him in the days that followed their.... break up, or whatever it was. she had no idea if he survived that massacre, no idea if he was amongst the wildlings that followed Jon, or if he was a wight like Karsi. "I am sorry if that got you hurt. But that is also apart of being human, even though it is probably the worst part about it... that pain causes growth, Lady. that pain molds us into who we are, whether it's for the better or for the worst... I guess that is up to us."
