i have been loving you violently

for what feels like years now.

my love has teeth and they have been

gnawing at your flesh,

i don’t mean to turn you into

skin and bone. it’s just that

i’ve felt reborn the day that we met -

as if you replaced the light within me

that had gone out when i was 16.

all of the beautiful pieces

of this universe are found within you,

and since we met i have discovered

infinite versions of myself.

i was cracked open at a very young age,

broken and battered by the world

listening to the voices telling me i

don’t need to be here.

i hold onto everything,

i am afraid to let go of the things

that spark lightness.

this lifetime is so dark and heavy, and

i wish to build a home inside of you.
