As frustrating as I’m sure it can be, sometimes they don’t have others to share their emotions or story with. It may not make any difference to you but it could make a large one for them to be assured that they are heard. Although I will never understand being late, that is one thing I find so hard to do unless it is truly a major emergency.

Then find someone else. I have things to do. Emergencies are understandable and being late is understandable- making it my problem isn’t.

Well, some receptionists are very approachable and people feel comfortable sharing with them! And sometimes life is out of our control and things happen. I was almost late for work this morning because I spilled coffee all over my white blouse. I had to change into a new outfit before leaving the house.

I should not come off as approachable, ew. I don’t want anyone sharing anything with me except their name, date of birth, and whether or not they have an appointment. I’m not a therapist. Almost late isn’t late and work has a little more grace for being late than a dentist office where patients are literally waiting.

I’ve had people be late to get their car fixed for reasons like that. It’s pretty traumatic honestly if your dog gets hit by a car. Usually it’s pretty simple to reschedule an appointment. If she was being an ass about it that’s one story but if she was being nice then I think it’s not that big of a deal.

She was an hour late to her appointment and was giving me a hard time about not being able to just walk right in. When I told her we’d have to reschedule because others were actually on time for their appointments she almost went full Karen. I don’t have any interest in entertaining Karens.

I deal with it as often as you’d probably think. Doesn’t make me care about it any more-- if anything it makes me care less and less every time.

Stating obvious facts isn’t rude. What’s rude is being late to an appointment for a reason that isn’t a real reason and then making my day harder because of it.
