Not a creature was stirring…
Home Sweet Home
The nutcracker waits on the mantel, stern, unblinking - holding the room together the way a single hinge holds a door.
The bells rest upon pine garland, sleek metal, clear shape, all precision. Winter light slips over them, sharp as a blade. They set the tone without fuss: a clean signal in a season that likes to overdo it. Just sound and shine, nothing extra.
"God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December"
J.M. Barrie
When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness.
Bob Hope
Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.
Peg Bracken
Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions, a special day spent in the warm circle of family and friends.
Margaret Thatcher
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
Calvin Coolidge
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.
Hamilton Wright Mabie
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!
Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
A beautiful moment capturing a cottonwood tree wrapped in frost on a cold winter day.

Molded Plywood Mastery: The Eameses perfected molding plywood using heat and pressure, initially for leg splints for the Navy during WWII, which funded their furniture experiments.
The 1952 Eames chair history centers on Charles and Ray Eames's groundbreaking work with molded plywood, evolving from wartime splints to iconic seating, with 1952 marking early, stamped production of their famous LCM (Lounge Chair Metal) and DCM (Dining Chair Metal) chairs by Herman Miller, embodying modernist comfort and mass production, featuring curved wood shells and various bases for diverse home/public use, establishing the foundation for their later iconic lounge chair.
The spring has stopped. Ice forms a thin veil over its mouth, trapping the water beneath in restless loops. Tiny bubbles twist against the frozen surface, straining to rise. Stones rimmed with frost line the edges, and bare branches dip toward it, hesitant, as if testing the weight of the cold. A bird lands nearby, shakes its wings, and flies off, leaving the air empty. The spring waits, silent but alive, holding its motion just beneath the ice, as though the world itself is holding its breath.
