Sometimes you hit a point where the skin you've been living with just stops fitting. For me it was the name, the art, the way I was doing things, all of it.
So, long story short, let me reintroduce myself.
I'm Robin, an Italian illustrator living in London.
When I was a kid/teen, I needed somewhere to escape to so that I could feel safe, and stories became that place.
All sorts of stories. Books, animation, comics, games, drawing, bits I'd find online, anything.
They're what kept me together through the worst of it.
Because of that, I'm taking the opportunity that this "brand new start" gives me to really focus on that feeling.
I hope one of these days, one of the stories, pieces of art, or little worlds I create can become a safe place for somebody to hide into for a while to rest when the world gets too loud.
I hope somebody who felt like they didn't belong, gets the feeling from my art that they're not alone anymore.
It's a big ask, but a man can dream.
Especially since dreaming is what got me this far.
If you've followed me through change: thank you for being here while I grow into my own name.
If you're new: you got here right on time! Stay a while :)
I decided to go back and give new life to some old characters of mine.
It felt fitting to start with Nadia.
She's part of a magical girl group I created years ago, inspired by solstices and equinoxes, with her being the Spring Equinox magical girl.
She's the healer of the group, is soft and kind, but also incredibly stubborn.
I wanted her to feel delicate and dreamy, but not weak at all. She's far from that!
Dimension 20 live in London tomorrow and I can't wait!! See some of you there!!
I didn't think of printing some of the fanart I drew and don't think I have time but it would have been such a fun idea!
