Before and after repair. SETH THOMAS METAL #4
1909 Seth Thomas “metal” series #4. I installed 3 pivot bushings and cleaned the old dirty oil off of everything.
Before and after
Did a little cleaning and repair on some of the brass details on it. Wood repair/restoration will be next.
The gingerbread clock on the left is a newer addition to the collection. I was allowed to buy it as compensation for repairing my daughters car after the insurance company totaled it out. Also got a steel on the wash stand it is in. Circa about 1860.
Did a little cleaning and repair on some of the brass details on it. Wood repair/restoration will be next.
Found this in Prescott Arizona 4/1/17 not a lot of information on it yet but it is from China or Japan not sure yet.
Here are 4 other projects I have going right now. I also am working on 2 cuckoo clocks and 3 400 day anniversary clocks.
Yet another project I have been working on. This Sessions clock was very dirty and had a lot of crud on the wood. I cleaned it and sprayed it with a few coats of shellac. I’ll see if I can find a before picture but this is it now.
So the springs for the gilbert alamo clock are installed and here it is all together. I ran it for a few minutees and it is fantastic. Onwards I need to tear into the case and fix that.
Just got it all cleaned up put it together for a test run even though I don't have the Springs yet I don't have the hammer down or any other chime Parts in yet didn't see a point in doing that yet the new Springs should be here Monday everything ran great looks like all the gears are messing properly pinions are good bushings are good
Ok so this is what I have been able to clean in 45 min or so. I think what has been cleaned up stands out from what i have not done yet. My A.D.D. is winning the battle with my O.C.D. I think it may be time to do something else for a while!
There we go all better!
Just another escape wheel picture.
So here is the escape wheel from Al the Gilbert shelf clock I just got. Can you spot the trouble spot? Guess it got tweaked when the time side spring snapped before I got it.
