Say what you will about Turd Burglars
But it passes the Bechdel test.
I’m holding out on a definite stance...
... until the series is over, but at this point, it’s difficult to do any other reading of South Park but transphobic.
Juxtaposing the Heather Swanson plot with the girl/boy club plot also gives some really uncomfortable TERFy vibes. The validity of exclusive spaces for women trumping trans-inclusive spaces is cringy at best. Please SP, give us a real and relatable trans character. Not another fucking harmful strawman that just does not exist.
I have loved South Park since its onset, but they have had zero growth or nuance with trans issues over the entirety of the show’s run, which is odd because they seem to thrive on examining questions from unexpected and multiple angles - especially over time!
Fortunately, the hope lies in this episode! Their awareness of Mulan not really covering trans issues and lacking nuance is super meta - they KNOW they lack nuance and I suspect they will delve deeper.
But if they don’t, it won’t feel very South Park and I’ll be disappointed.
Ok anon, it worked.
Oh fuck you, Ted Cruz. It was just as much a criticism of your unchecked American capitalism.
Wtf was that even about
I don’t even know.
My one gripe about recent episodes of South Park...
... is that they are relying a lot on heavy-handed overt exposition. Show us the scene where Kyle pissed Cartman off. Don’t just ham it into a phone call. Make his revenge feel motivated! Instead of having Cartman tell us how he got sent to the Detention Center, show us! Make Stan finding out about Cartman’s revenge a part of a B or C plot.
It’s just lazy writing and you’re better than that, South Park.
The Wisecrack Doubling Down podcast:
“This episode A++++ It really moved me on a personal level and once again confirmed that Trey is THE man! Such a media icon and…”
“Wait, why Trey and not Matt?”
Thank you!!!
“Well, I’d say Matt and Trey but as we learn more it seems like Trey really runs the show and Matt just does voices.”
“Ok, I see.”
Dude seriously, I’m done with you!
TREY DOES EVERYTHING! D:
Fuck the Simpsons for enforcing this misconception.
They totally deserved the Apu roast last season 😌
Haha yeah fuck them XD they lack the self awareness and depth South Park has. Also they are boring. :)

You're so right, people just blame SP because it's an easy scapegoat. Plenty of shows and movies, especially other 'anti-PC' ones, which were popular in the same period were just as bad if not worse and stupider than SP, it just got the most shit because it hasn't faded away like they did
Its easier for people to point fingers at something to make it simple instead of taking the time to look at the bigger picture. A group of 10 people are all going to take away different messages from the same tv show. What you do with those thoughts lies with that individual, and that has nothing to do with the show they just watched
I would also argue that shows like, say, any Barbie animated series or even Disney features, are far more damaging to society due to their lack of self criticism and transparency.
VHS cassettes are collectibles now, don’t @ me. I’m deciding if I want to get all volumes on VHS or just the two majors ones (vols 1 and 7)
I still have this VHS cassette! ❤️ Memories!
Adventure Time reminds me of South Park. They both did something different and then everyone was scrambling to make something similar.
I’ve never watched Adventure Time actually… Should probably check it out!
It’s so good
Yeeessss
Craig yelling “NO THANK YOU MA'AM” at a raisins girl is funnier than it should be
I never heard it! o.o
It happened during the last raisins fight for clydes dad’s credit card. I can’t remember the entire exchange but a raisins girl said something, Clyde said something, then Craig said it
Now I have an excuse to open the game again!
It occurs after Clyde gets hit out of a trance. One of the RG offers like fries or something to lure Clyde back in, but Craig firmly and politely declines the offer. Bless him.
Playing Trivial Pursuit with the in-laws and one of the questions was “How long does it take to produce an episode of South Park: 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months?”
I love that South Park’s production schedule is now considered common knowledge!
It’s such a good question because it sounds just like a question where common sense would help you, but nope!
Just listening to the Wisecrack talk about Time to Get Cereal now and even if this discussion is awesome, it always rubs me the wrong way when people criticise that South Park is talking about and making good points about the subject matter or issue but not offering any real solutions to it.
It’s a comedy show! I’m glad a couple of comedy writers aren’t trying to offer solutions to the world’s problems! How self righteous and self entitled would that be? That’s what I like about them.
They offered a very sobering solution! No more soy sauce or RDR2. Simple. :)
It's probably because of his dad but, I wonder if because of what happened with "The Scoots" is why Kenny is protesting.
It’s funny that Kenny’s family still had an Alexa…
And what did you guys think of Kenny in this episode? He flipped a finger to his dad when he was preaching about the protest and the workers right to strike, like he couldn’t care. He also looked bored listening to the Marxist box give a speech. When he told his friends he couldn’t join the bike parade he didn’t sound determined, more like he’d given up to his dad’s cause, without really believing in it.
My thoughts on this are this;
Kenny is opposed to “commodity fetishism” which is why he chose not to participate in the bike parade. Commodity fetishism and spectacle are intrinsically linked. But this is also a big reason why he was uninterested in the spectacle of socialism which Josh put on. For Kenny, the truest path of capitalist resistance is is to just not participate in spectacles at all. Because socialist causes are coopted, packages (Josh) and resold to people just as any other ideology can be.
It’s kind of sad, really. Many people thought the bike parade was a happy, feel-good moment, when in reality it was capitalism and the society of the spectacle winning. Even Kenny’s corpse is drug through town despite his wishes i.e. Cartman got his way as usual. Don’t believe for a second that he cares for us to “remember Kenny”.
Oh yeah, I totally see that now.
But to me Kenny’s comment about commodity fetishism seemed like something Joshua brainwashed him into thinking, not a rebellious act that he came up with himself.
I know he seems less than enthused and that’s because resisting dominating ideologies sucks. To me his reaction is very genuine and kind of sad.

Also, Kenny’s dad’s an asshole. He may be right in striking, but he’s an asshole all the same.
