Villain AU June Doodles
Remember when I drew a villain design for June based on a dream I had?
Well…I decided to draw her again! And I now have a better idea of how I’d imagine her character would play out. (Also please ignore the fact that I forgot to draw her underskirt thingy on one of the doodles, and that her hand’s the wrong way around on the ‘show-accurate’ doodle-)
If this was simply a reimagining of the show in general, I think June as a villain would be pretty similar to Big Jet in a couple of ways. By that I mean:
- She’d be a reoccurring character
- She’d go around taking people’s stuff from them
One particular difference between them, though, is that she specifically steals things that are considered powerful, important or valuable. And that leads to one other thing that makes her different from Big Jet as an antagonist: her reasoning.
Big Jet kept stealing things and antagonising the Little Einsteins because…well, I think he was just really petty about losing the Great Sky Race? Idk, it’s kind of unclear. Meanwhile, I feel like June would be one of those villains who want all the attention on them alone, and often desire it being to the point of worship. (Something-something, “I want people to fear how much they love me.”) She makes every little thing about herself, and wants everyone else to bow down to her. Too bad the Little Einsteins always seem to get in her way…
I think she’d send trouble the heroes’ way similarly to how OG June gets through obstacles. She’d use her ability to jump high to her advantage, and manipulate her surroundings with her dancing skills. (Remember when June crushed a bunch of giant toadstools just by jumping on them? Or when she caused popcorn to pop by dancing? I think she’d use that to slow the kids down or make a quick getaway.)
Now, if this were a reimagining of my main AU specifically…
In my main AU, when June still lived in her old hometown, she wasn’t really liked by that many people. Most people either treated her horribly, or turned their backs on her after finding out she loved music. Only two people legitimately liked her, and they were taken away from her. Thus, she developed an intense need to be loved for who she was, even if she still doesn’t think she deserves it.
Here, she still had this need for love. Except it soon developed into a need for attention. And after a while, she started truly believing that she deserved better than everyone else after how she was treated by others around her.
Like our June, she found herself in Rhythm Heaven and was let in by Sora. But this time, she ran away from the café after thinking that everyone here was just like the people in her old hometown. (There’s more context in Chapter 2 of my latest fic, which I promise I’m working on.) Then an extremely concerned Sora started a missing persons search throughout Rhythm Heaven that’s, surprisingly, still going on in the present.
If Sora were to find out who the girl giving the Little Einsteins a hard time is, she’d be the one person who truly recognises her…
