Prettiest omelette I've ever made! #yum #breakfast #nofilter
Not sure how I keep getting such high (low?) bin numbers. Also not sure how the race will go tomorrow since I've been a total slacker in terms of training all month...
@chhadams made dinner. #delicious
Posole for dinner. #yum
Ramen cooked in chicken broth with veggies (cabbage, asparagus & leeks). No death seasoning packet needed!
#farmersmarket #yum
I know it's 90 degrees outside, but I NEEDED goulash. #dinner #yum
Not terribly sure how I rated such a high (low?) bin number... Better be #readytorun! Today's the SuperHero run. First of three in three. #mamaruns #getfit
Nugget literally ripped the bandaid off of my extremely painful toe blister. #OUCH #toddlerlife apparently I needed socks on my humid mid-day walk the other day. :-/
Nugget decided my sparkling water should be his. Then he promptly dumped it all over the floor. #toddlerlife
racing the sun
So, with 35 minutes until sundown I needed to make up for the 2.5 miles I flaked on yesterday. In 34 minutes I got in an even 3. :-D MapMyRun will only show 2.6 mi, though. My first 5 minutes were weird in the app - it told me I'd run 3.4 mi in just 4:35! Regardless of the technological glitch, it was a really good run. Because it was an early day (up at 4:15 a after waking up a few times due to our overnight thunderstorms) I tried to not push too hard. I still limited my walk breaks (only 2 before my cool down) to when I stepped on a rock and nearly lost my footing and when I was on a narrow trail that included a rotting boardwalk. Good thing it felt so good tonight because 2 more miles are waiting for me tomorrow. #mamaruns #getfit #trailrunner #slownsteady #mosquitofeast
I scheduled a 'me' day for tomorrow. These are my 'to do' lists... #workwouldbelesswork #toomanyitems I will be lucky to accomplish 5 things on my lists. The most important: nap. The item least likely to happen: nap.
room for improvement
I've realized that I need to be better with my warming up and stretching routines. After a long route on Wednesday & Tabata to cross train Thursday, everything was tight and a little cramp-prone during this morning's 2.5 miles. Particularly my ankles. I guess that means yoga becomes my defacto cross training activity tomorrow! #stiff #mamaruns #slowrunner
this week's plan...
I thought I had a rest day scheduled tomorrow. NOPE. Time to cross train. Yoga, Tabata or Kettlebells? #toughquestion #getfit #mamaruns See ya Saturday, running shoes.
dunn's marsh bike path run - thoughts
We ran as a family tonight, which one the one hand was AWESOME. On the other it was HARD. I adore spend time with my boys (big, small and furry) and the fact that Chris supports my running means the world to me. I know that if he wasn't willing to take care of Nugget while I run or occasionally log some miles with me/us I wouldn't have any hope of staying motivated. That made tonight awesome. Running while pushing a stroller full of toddler is HARD. Oof. Especially on hills while cyclists zoom past you at top speeds. Running on paved bike paths really does cause a much harsher impact on your legs. I knew that, but after Monday's unbelievable trail run (I did a sub-10 mile!!!), slogging it out on the hard asphalt HURT. I could feel it before we even reached our first mile mark. Ouch. My one big complaint every time Chris runs with me: he is so much faster than me! His long legs and uncanny ability to lope along any path without as much as a heavy breath is slightly infuriating as I plod along breathing noisily and heavily from the first step. I must admit, I'm a bit jealous. Maybe next time I'll make him push the stroller as a means of slowing him down a little... ;) All in all, it was a decent 3.5 mile route. We saw some pretty cool 'hidden' parts of the area and I think we can expand the route a bit for biking someday, too. Oh, one funny note from the run: Dex learned that tree frogs taste bad. He went to eat one (because, hey, how else will a beagle learn about frogs?) and then spend the next tenth of a mile shaking his head to try to shake away te taste. (The frog was fine - he only got as gas as licking it. No teeth were involved.) Until Friday, dear running shoes. Meanwhile, time for some milk and cookies... (that counts as 'recovery food,' right?) #getfit #mamaruns #familytime #slowrunner #training #randomthoughts #roadrun
#dinner of BLTs tonight. #yum #bacon
I signed up for three 5Ks over three months. It might be basic, but I managed to write out a training plan for the next two months. (I basically combined two online/app plans onto paper because I need that quick reference). Now I'm just hoping the rain clears out before tonight's run! #mamaruns #getfit #getorganized #readytorun #slowrunner
