Headcanon that Mike showed up to the airport in that goofy ass outfit because he was originally going to wear his hellfire shirt cause he thought it was sooo cool and wanted to show will. But before he got in the car for his mom to drive him to the airport, Dustin said something like sucks that Will was left out tho Yk. The party was so much better with him.

So Mike panicked cause he didn’t want to make will sad but his mom wouldn’t let him go change, so he had to buy an outfit at the airport gift shops.

*Scenario*

Mike and Lucas hanging out at Lucas’s house during the time skip, and mike keeps sniffing his shirt. It becomes so excessive Lucas sarcastically asks him if the reason he keeps sniffing it is because he stinks, causing Mike to roll his eyes at him.

Later, they move their hang out to Mike’s basement, and when they reach the basement they see Will, looking like he’s searching for something. when he notices their presence, he goes “hi guys- oh there’s my shirt” while ooking at Mike. Mike immediately goes red and starts apologising, saying how “all of his clothes are dirty” to which an amused Will responds “it’s okay Mike :) I just didn’t know where it is”. Lucas is suspiciously quiet during this entire ordeal, and when Mike turns to him, he sees him looking at him like this:

thought for too long about how they discarded mike wheeler and i just got so fucking angry and sorrowful. it's not even that much about byler. i saw a boy who reminded me of myself and i needed him to heal. i saw my 17-year old self who couldn't rest and think about their feelings for more than a minute. i saw my 16-year old self who kept losing their friends no matter how much they clung to them. i saw my 15-year old self who thought they were the problem. i saw my 14-year old self and 13-year old self and 12-year old self who wanted to die. i saw my younger self who just needed to accept themself and heal, and instead of being allowed to hope that yes, you don't have to wait so long to be happy, i saw a reflection of myself sentenced to conformity and something he can never speak always stuck in the back of his throat.

Today I am thinking about how much fun adult byler have bringing back cleradin into their lives. Is it still cleradin if it’s the two of them being dramatic? It’s funnier to complain about hard day at work if you’re explaining it like a siege. Mike pulls out the cringiest romantasy phrases to flirt and even though Will rolls his eyes, he can’t help but blush. When they go to anything themed, they always put in waaaay too much effort and commit to being in character the whole time. They love their silly roleplay
