I know that Johnathan's short film from the epilogue is a commentary on consumerism under Capitalism and how once consumers get something they want more and more no matter the quality, they just basically want more to satisfy the craving even if it's half-baked, low effort, etc. so the possible point of prolonging all of this is to fuel that, but like.

I am kind of tired of waiting now. Not because I want more, but because I want answers lmao. And I hate that we keep waiting and hoping, because I am the kind of person who can get hyper-fixated on things when I am interested, and yes it is a personal problem, but I would like for it to stop being a thing I go to check for online, find more theories, wait some more. Like, I love the theorizing part and have had so much fun chatting with everyone online about it, but I need it to hurry now. I just want to get to the part that unveils the answers slowly by each episode and then we all get so excited and have ANSWERS to discuss together and can finally find that sense of relief or shock of like "omgggg I didn't see this coming but I see how it got here", or "oooooh I totally got this right", etc.

I kind of love that Will's coming out feels more in-character for Mike to me.

"I haven't told any of you this because I don't want you to see me differently. But the truth is...I am. I am different."

The audience already knows Will is gay; they've already seen other characters suspect it in the show. We've had multiple scenes hinting at it: Jonathan's hug, the Van scene, all the longing stares in S4.

But the audience might see Mike in a different light after the truth is finally out. They might see his interactions with El differently now—his coming of age is hidden in plain sight now, there for everyone to analyze and speculate.

"I just pretended like I wasn't because I didn't want to be. I wanted to be like everyone else. I wanted to be like my friends, and I am like you."

Will doesn't like pretending; he's always honest with himself. He says it to Jonathan in S2—he knows he is a freak. He chooses Bowie over Kenny Rogers. Will never really pushes Mike away because of shame. He's just resigned himself to the "best friend" moniker.

But Mike does pretend. He is afraid of what other people think of him. He wants to be like everyone else, so he quickly turns to the first girl he meets. He wants to be like his friends, so he turns to Lucas for advice. Mike does push Will away because he's ashamed.

This is a lot more just Mike-centric but still😭😭😭

The song is so tender and beautiful and serenely sorrowful and something cracked open inside me I heard the words “my angel” while looking into little Will’s sad eyes. Mike would definitely think of Will like that oh my god😭

And the whole thing with connecting these lyrics of this song (it’s “my angel” by Adrianne Lenker btw) to Mike jumping off the quarry just makes my heart ache silently a little. Especially when you think about the fact that most likely it wasn’t just about saving Dustin, but also about Mike having been driven to the edge by everything that had been going on and Will missing and Mike thinking that he was dead and then once again losing most of the hope to find him and not knowing whether he was going to see Will again. The way how Mike didn’t hesitate too much to jump off a literal cliff. He was going to land on rocks and he knew that. He attempted suicide at the age of twelve and they never addressed that afterwards. Sigh.

Oh Mike I will never forgive them for lobotomising you and barely letting you show any negative emotion since season 3.
