The #himba or OvaHimba have a very fascinating history .. I know I owe many people a basic write up on #whotheyare .. I spent a wonderful #lateafternoon in the #village with them, I learnt a lot from a wonderful gentleman called Festus who doubled up as our translator & guide. As a #tourguide myself I believe that the learning process never ends as each outing is a huge opportunity for me to learn something new, each new client will ask #somethingnew .. No .. nothing’s wrong at all with these elephants .. while it’s uncommon for elephants to actually or habitually lie down to sleep the #desertelephant will lie down in the shade to preserve energy & evade the relentless sun / heat of the Namib .. contrary to misinformation from some schools of thought lying down does not endanger the elephant in any way.
