🥀 BIOGRAPHY
“Roots break stone, blossoms follow storms… so too will I endure.”
Corin Graye never intended to walk the path of warriors.
Born in Earthrealm to a quiet life, Corin was raised by a botanist mother and spent much of his youth in greenhouses and nature preserves rather than on city streets. Gentle, inquisitive, and deeply empathetic, he found peace in the quiet cultivation of life. Where others craved conflict, Corin found meaning in preservation—treating wounds, easing pain, and understanding the subtle power of the natural world.
But destiny does not always honor preference.
A trip to the remote Himalayas in search of rare medicinal plants led to his abduction by the Lin Kuei. Seen as a trespasser at first, Corin was nearly executed. That is, until his botanical knowledge spared him. Instead of death, he was reassigned. In the shadows of the clan, he became a healer, an herbalist, a background figure who mended warriors broken by battle and brewed poisons for their enemies.
Though he never truly belonged to the Lin Kuei, Corin stayed. Not for loyalty, but because some small part of him believed his compassion could make a difference, even in a place built on violence.
Then came the Cyber Initiative.
When the new Grandmaster unveiled his intent to convert the Lin Kuei into machines, Corin saw his nightmare made real. There would be no more healing, no more need for plants or poisons—only steel, programming, and silence. Fearing for his life and identity, Corin did what only one person had successfully done before: he ran. Because without a need for healing abilities or venoms, he knew he would likely be one of the first people experimented on in this new program.
🧪 THE FALL INTO OUTWORLD
Corin fled to Outworld, hoping to disappear. Instead, he found Shang Tsung.
The sorcerer welcomed him, whispering safety, purpose, and power. Corin, desperate and alone, accepted. At first, he served quietly and even with a measure of peace. Tending Outworld flora, harvesting venomous herbs, and brewing strange elixirs in the shadows gave him purpose again. But over time, Shang Tsung’s magic twisted his chloromancy. His abilities grew stronger, more dangerous. His gentle healing became dark restoration. And then came the gift, and curse, of blood magic.
Worse still, Corin’s mind became Shang Tsung’s to mold. Through manipulation, sorcery, and subtle control, Corin’s pacifist nature was fractured. The guilt of his past faded, replaced with cold obedience. Under Shang’s rule, he became “Hemlock.” An assassin cloaked in thorns and silence, draining life instead of saving it.
⚔️ THE OUTWORLD REDEMPTION
Corin’s freedom came in blood and fire. On a mission to ambush a joint effort of both Outworlders and Earthrealm’s defenders, he faltered. His blows hesitant and his heart unwilling. His collapse brought him face-to-face with Li Mei. Expecting death, he knelt unarmed. Yet instead of execution, she offered judgment. And saw in him not a killer, but a man struggling against chains.
Li Mei brought him before the Uṁgadi, who eyed him with suspicion. But his chloromancy proved invaluable in tending their sacred groves and his healing magic saved many of their sisters during training. Slowly, through service, he earned a place. Not as a warrior priestess, but as a assistant and protege of Li Mei. Even joining the Sun Do Constabulary (police force).
Corin trained under Li Mei’s watch, honing non-lethal combat skills. He was a master at pressure-point strikes, and learning discipline to balance his powers. With most of the Uṁgadi, he found family not through blood but through shared survival and mutual purpose. They gave him a chance to atone. He, in turn, gave them loyalty unshaken.
🛡️ SONYA’S PROTEGE Their bond formed slowly. At first, Corin resisted. Ashamed, confused, uncertain. But Sonya was relentless. She taught him to fight. Not to kill, but to defend. She rebuilt his broken mind through discipline, tough love, and unwavering belief. And somewhere between the sparring matches, the tactical drills, and the quiet moments after nightmares? Corin found family to protect.
He doesn’t call her “Mom.” She doesn’t call him “Son.” Cassidy doesn't call him "Brother." And Johnny Cage doesn't call him "Son." But when he’s wounded in battle, they're the first to reach him. When his little mini-family is under siege, he throws himself in the way.
They all seem to understand each other and the roles that they play. All survivors. All warriors shaped by things they never asked for. They gave him his name back. He gave them something to protect again. They also gave him a new codename. Thorne.
🌱 PERSONALITY Alignment: Lawful Good
Core Traits: Pacifist | Thoughtful | Haunted | Intelligent | Fiercely Loyal | Quietly Strong
Voice Claim: Low, grounded, with occasional sharp wit. Especially when deflecting emotion.
Corin is not loud. He is not flashy. But he is unshakably present. He walks lightly, observes everything, and speaks only when it matters. He has the soul of a healer. But will bleed to protect those he loves. He is still learning to forgive himself. But he believes, now, that he can.
🌿 ABILITIES Chloromancy: Manipulates plant life with speed and grace. Can ensnare enemies, create protective barriers of thorns, or cause toxic blooms to erupt on command. His skin tends to briefly turn green as he uses this.
Healing Magic: Uses touch and natural salves to rapidly accelerate recovery. Especially useful for stabilizing allies mid-fight or healing injuries between battles.
Blood Magic: A dark remnant of Shang Tsung’s influence. Corin can manipulate blood (his or others’) to create blades, projectiles, or coagulating snares. Used sparingly and reluctantly.
Venomcraft: Creates highly specialized poisons from rare flora. Paralysis, confusion, necrosis, or illusion-inducing spores. Often used to disarm or stall, not kill.
🔥 RELATIONSHIPS
🌸 Li Mei — His savior and teacher. She was the first to trust him after Shang Tsung’s hold was broken. Their bond is one of mutual respect, discipline, and shared battles. She gave him a new path, he gives her quiet loyalty.
🌸 Uṁgadi — His family in Outworld. Though never one of them by blood or oath, they rely on his healing and protective magic from time to time. Corin finds peace among them, tending their groves and protecting their order with steadfast devotion.
🌸 Sindel — A queen he admires from afar. Though wary of Outworld’s politics, Corin respects Sindel’s strength and seeks to prove himself as a trustworthy ally to her reign.
🌸 Kitana — He sees in her the same struggle between tradition and compassion that weighs upon him. Their exchanges are few, but marked with empathy.
🌸 Shang Tsung — A wound that never fully heals. If they meet again, it will be personal—and Corin cannot promise he will hold to his pacifist ideals.
🌸 Other Kombatants — Keeps his distance. Offers quiet support. Becomes fierce and protective if any are injured in battle. Finds kinship with outsiders and those scarred by servitude.
🌸 FATALITY: "Garden of Sorrow" Vines erupt from the ground, impaling the opponent’s limbs. Corin walks forward slowly, planting a glowing blossom on their chest. It blooms with unholy energy, exploding into a cascade of poisonous spores and ripping them apart from the inside.
"Wither Bloom" Corin kneels as if to mourn, placing his hand over his opponent’s heart. Vines erupt from the ground, wrapping tightly around their limbs. A luminous pink-and-white flower blooms from their chest—then violently bursts, sending petals, blood, and bone flying in all directions. Corin closes their eyes and whispers, "Return to peace."
“Silent Bloom”
Corin moves with eerie calm, stepping close and striking the opponent in a flurry of rapid, precise pressure point jabs. Each touch glows faintly green as his energy flows into them. At first, nothing happens—then their body locks stiff, trembling as if vines are constricting them from within.
Corin whispers: “Even roots can strangle.”
He taps one final point at the center of their chest. The opponent convulses, frozen upright, before their veins bulge and blossom with glowing flowers that burst violently through their skin. Their body collapses into a lifeless heap surrounded by petals.
🦢 ANIMALITY: "Swan Requiem" Corin transforms into a celestial swan with soft pink-and-white plumage that glows with ethereal magic. The swan lets out a haunting, melodic cry as it soars overhead. With a sudden dive, it pierces straight through the opponent’s chest with its beak, trailing glittering feathers behind. As the opponent collapses, the swan lands gently and preens its wings before fading into light.
👶 BABALITY Baby Corin sits peacefully in a patch of glowing flowers, giggling and gently tapping his foot. Tiny sparkles float around him as he tries to "heal" a stuffed dragon toy by pressing his glowing hands on it. Occasionally, a baby butterfly lands on his head.
