See, to me this has nothing at all to do with Dean’s interest. This has to do, to me, with Dean seeing Sam as potentially interested in Brad Pitt and nothing more. To be fair, there is a decent amount of evidence that Sam’s sexuality is not straight.

I mean, the fact Brady and Sam had “a history” and Crowley called him Sam’s “demon lover” and the fact in the episode where Crowley was trying to protect Sam from seeing Brady, when he took out most of that demons’ nest and lied about working with Brady, he said Brady was his “lover in league against Satan”.

The fact this season Sam said he dated “someone bendy”, which is not gender specific. The fact his concern when hearing that Bobby made a deal with Crowley was to ask, “Did you kiss him?”

The fact he’s never, ever said he doesn’t like guys. Dean has said it at least 5 times, usually defensively to a potential threat, but that’s still a statement of sexuality Sam has never done. Also, Jensen and Kripke consider Dean straight. It’s honestly weird to me more people don’t ask about Sam’s sexuality.

I think this scene is actually just a little indication that Dean knows Sam is not completely uninterested in guys. I don’t think he’s just teasing him when he says it, I think he is actually asking too.

     Dean nodded as he sat up in bed and stretched his body out with a grunt. “Sounds good to me, there’s a big woods out back I’m sure we’ll find something small for them to start out with.” He replied while standing up and padding over to the closet in search of some clothes to put on. “Sounds like they’re already awake.”

Maker

     The first time Dean laid eyes on Castiel he knew that the man was something different. Maybe he could have over looked the coldness of his touch to poor circulation, but there was no hiding the knowledge or power behind his eyes.

     They first met in a bar where he’d taken Sammy out for a few drinks to end the day. When he turned and looked over to the feeling of someone looking at him, he noticed Castiel. When Sam noticed the man looking he scooted closer to Dean’s side clutched at his shirt lightly with one hand.

     Sam was shy back then, before Castiel turned them, but that night was fantastic. After it was over Dean kept seeing Castiel around in random places, popping up at the weirdest times, and always when he was with Sam. Eventually he talked Sam in to following him back to his nest. That wouldn’t be the last time they visited him, but it would be a while before they found out what Castiel was.

     After being turned Sam changed from being the shy kid he once was, and became confidant in himself like never before at the hands of Castiel. Dean felt such happiness watching how good Castiel was to his brother, and him as well. He taught them how to feed, fight, kill, and that love has no limits, ever. He was a good maker, so close to perfect that he might as well have been. He never yelled at them during training, but instead helped them to their feet to try again. He always provided anything they ever needed.

     They were together for months, though leaving Mary had been hard, and to this day she thinks that Dean went off with Sam to some fancy college over seas (they email her from time to time and let them know how they are). For a while life was perfect, but perfect never lasts for very long.

     One night, while the three of them were doing their usual nightly routine (feeding and fucking, the life of a new born vampire is full of it), hunters raided their nest. Not seeing another way out, Castiel stayed behind so everyone else could get out. In the confusion Dean and Sam were separated. While running from hunters and hounds Dean felt his maker die, and the only thing that kept him on his feet where the hounds on his heels. He wouldn’t see his brother for a while after that night, but he always knew that Sam had made it, he could feel it in his gut.
