New Winteragent wip
At the closing of the day
John loathed cold weather with a passion, but unfortunately here he was, trudging alongside Bucky on some covert reconnaissance in some frozen hellscape of a forest. Despite being bundled up in a thick parka over the top of his usual tactical gear, he was still shivering like one of those pathetic hairless cats Bob found so endearing.
Ugh, just thinking of them sent him shivering in disgust. Or that could just be the frigid temperature of his surroundings.
Goddamn recon missions in the middle of snowstorms – here he was, stuck in the damn mountains in the middle of some of the worst weather he’d ever experienced, all because Bucky had decided that the storm was the ideal cover for checking out a remote “weather station” that Val said was hiding the comms network of their latest group they were trying to dismantle.

More God! Garp au ramblings
Finals are coming up, so I decided to distract myself.
Inspired by @parentscomputer-official 's Post about Dragon's parent being the god instead of Luffy's other parent. It was such a cool idea, and it resonated well with this weird little concept I have, because the same is true in this case, it's just that Garp is the mythical parent this time
Back before the void century, when the world was being formed, an island sprang up in the East, and a young spirit came to live there - he was fierce and proud, and loved nothing more than a good fight, with the rushing energy and the sheer sense of joy for living to the utmost. More than that, he despised others taking advantage of unearned power, and abusing those beneath them. Though he ranged across the seas, the sea-wolf always found his wending was back to this island of the dawn. Eventually, he became worshipped among the people that lives there, and in much the same manner, they forgot about the wild god of the mountainside, whose many teeth flashed for justice. Except, they still had his carvings and figurines decorating their homes though they did not remember why. And that meant the god of the mountain, of manyflashingteeth, of freedom, but also the personal kind of justice that clings on by breaking fingernails to stop hope from fading, and means that the children that end up in his care are always a little too brave and compassionate and outspoken for Foosha to contain them within its embrace. He can only hope these grandchildren, fierce little cubs dear to his heart, his brats don't find themselves crushed under the heel of the grasping greedy worms of the world government.
In this AU, I think Garp just found Dragon one day, be that in the marines or elsewhere, and he decided he liked the kid's attitude, and his passionate belief about right and wrong, which remind him of the time when justice was the simple give and take of nature, and the rules of the ocean, cruel but harshly fair, and when he was younger and free, free of the chains and constraints keeping him shackled to the marines, and that thing that haunted the 'empty' throne. It would be the least he could do to make sure this kid kept some of that inner fire that was just flickering embers in the old cavern of his chest. The brat is audacious, and completely out of Garp's understanding, even with how human-like he has been so often recently. Still, the kid looks at him and sees his true shadow wreathed around his shoulders, and blanketing the islands around him with his awareness. And, perhaps, the boy is an echo of Davy Jones an old acquaintance, and the weather follows at his heels, even though he is so painfully human and fragile. So Garp does what he does best, act on gut instinct. He gives Dragon a small stone charm to wear, and woven into the thread is his fur and a will for protection.
He doesn't consider that perhaps the confluence of his affection, ahem, toleration, and prologed exposure of the boy to his presence helped make him a bit more than he was before. Not much, but just enough to be able to whisper his will to the skies, and have the many-layered heavens comply. Garp doesn’t always think that deeply - the kid is good and healthy, and can protect himself, and that's all that matters.
One piece AU (Garp-centric) inspired by the phrase "old sea dog"
(Largely inspired by a really neat fic series where the Monkey Ds are wishbabies/all the other great series where the Ds are all slightly off from human)
I just thought it would be neat to have a fic where Garp is the slightly eldritch creature rather than any of his grandsons, and so becomes even more of a bogeyman for any pirates
Is being expanded into a full length one-shot on AO3, unless the fic writing demons possess me
Foosha village is old, older than the kingdom of Goa over on the other side of the mountain. Older still are the ruins up on the slope mount Colubo, deeper still than the bandits. Perhaps it was once a temple to the god of the mountain. Now, it's just dilapidated, and no one remembers the name of the deity once worshipped there.
Still, no-one disturbs it, for fear of both the fierce beasts that roam the trees, and for the fear of the thing that lives there. They never see it properly, only glimpses of iron-sharp teeth shining in the light of the moon, or too bright eyes watching them from the shadows. It is no malevolent beast, it is just better to leave some things well alone, the people say. Rumours persist though – of a fierce guardian who protected the island from pirates back when the East was not the calmest of the blues, both in the form of a great wolf and, apparently, that of a man. The former was evidenced by the small carvings over the doorways of the older houses – a wolf lying curled up around the base of a mountain, one watchful eye staring down at people walking by, set in sea quartz. The latter was only a tall tale based on fleeting shadows and meat going missing from the market. It could well just be thieves say some of the more skeptical villagers.
I've posted the first short to AO3 here !!
Soon to be followed by more, I just didn't want to commit to another longfic.

Bucky talking about John
The manager is yelena
And if I said that the rivalry between Roger and Garp reminded me of the one between Alucard and Anderson and that's why Garp was so grumpy after Roger died , would that be so crazy???
Random thoughts about Monkey D. Garp
I just find conflicted old men such interesting characters! This is just random points, and my opinion, not facts : )
All things considered, I think he's a relatively decent parental figure as compared to One Piece standards
I am a 'Garp would've rescued Ace if he said something at Marineford' truther - not particularly groundbreaking, but some people think otherwise
I really would like to see a spin off focusing on his early days in the navy, and hunting Roger
Fully think that he would've absolutely wiped the floor with Akainu if Sengoku hadn't stopped him
I don't think his actions at Marineford were cowardly or particularly hypocritical, though I do still wish he'd done more (as he said to Roger after God's valley, he wants to stay in the Marines to protect the rank and file from the WG), though I do find myself hoping that he might fully defect from the marines at some point - imagine the chaos of having the whole Monkey D. family against the World Government
I don't think he's as stupid as he seems - he may well use his outwardly obvious disregard for the proper way to do things to tell people important information - e.g. Telling Luffy about his father, and then going 'ah, I shouldn't have said that'
Chapter 7 of I shall see the stars
Find it here
I did end up editing some of the stuff I wrote earlier on to fit the chapter better.
(short extract below)
****
Garret can see Cullen’s bed out of the corner of his eye and some small, impulsive part of him wants to launch himself at it headfirst to see what it smells like. That particular thought of his is dispelled by Cullen clearing his throat rather awkwardly. With a start, Garret realizes that he was staring, and his head whips back around in Cullen’s direction.
In the flickering candlelight, the dark shadows under the Knight-Captain’s eyes are more pronounced than they were in the bright light of the sun. The poor man looks practically ill, though that may well have been due to their nighttime excursion.
Clearly tired of the awkward silence, Cullen begins speaking.
“I, well I should say the Order, thank you for the assistance you provided in rescuing knight recruit Keran, and neutralising that foul group of blood mages. I am able to offer you four gold coins for the reward – the Knight-Commander would not allow for more to be spent on frivolous matters.”
The last words were spoken with a sudden venomous bitterness that set Garret blinking in surprise.
Cullen places a small coin pouch on the desk, and Garret picks it up and goes to leave. A gentle grip on his wrist stops him.

Just Call Me by My Name
(Also on ao3)
In response to this prompt for the Thunderbolts* prompt fest.
Like it says on the tin.
The Thunderbolts are still relatively new as a team and John has tried and tried to bridge the gaps (he thinks are there) with his respective teammates. But it feels like no matter how he tries, they keep him at arms length and persist in calling him “Walker”.
Until a mission where he gets badly hurt either saving them or a group of civilians, which leads to the first time he really hears them call him John.
Happy ending of course where he first gets yelled at for being “such a self sacrificing idiot/moron” then they realize how they had made him feel and they all sit down and talk it out.
Final chapter of Just Call me by my name out!

I love that canonically John doesn't know what info is important /relevant (Go bears!) And if you made him trans and casual about coming out, is even funnier.
He can be all like 'and this scar is from when I held a box cutter backedwards by accident when I was 6" "And what about the one across your stomach." "Eh. Freddie is a C-section baby. anyways back to the box cutter—
Looking for two HotD fics
Harwin's part Stark, and has a Direwolf. I can't find it through filters because the tags are niche enough to not show up
Rhaewin, something about Alys Rivers warning Harwin about getting involved with the Targaryens. I think it might have been a fix it, and that it involves Greendreams?
There is a high chance I have accidentally mixed up several fics when thinking about these.
I just keep on forgetting to bookmark stuff 😔
(Edit. I found a Harwin has a direwolf one, but istg it's not the one I was thinking of)
Some of the songs I have on repeat!
@amnatreal had to limit it to 15, otherwise the list would be quite long!
Peaches - The Stranglers
Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons
Broken Crown - Mumford & Sons
King and Lionheart - of Monsters and Men
We Must be Killers - Mikky Ekko
Boy with a coin - Iron & Wine
Burn the Heretic - In Crooked Wonderment

I listen to these two playlists the most
