A quick update:
I'm currently dealing with some extreme technical difficulties of the internet connection variety; I aim to resume blogging as soon as this is resolved!
I have to say, it's very Eda to have a cheat box that is not only explicitly labeled "RAD CHEATZ" but also has Eda's own name plastered on it just so that if anyone came across it, they'd have no doubts about who it belonged to.
what....... what's a sockworm
is it... a thing you put in peoples' socks to scare them so they mess up during the match maybe?
Ahh, that does indeed sound quite plausible! (Another possibility I considered was that it was a worm that eats socks, leaving the opposition sockless, but a sock-shaped worm... definitely seems like something that would exist in the Boiling Isles.)
intimidation factor: 0
Eda.................
I love how the ominous music (that cut out for Hooty's interjection) starts up again for this.
Ah, getting right to it, I see. There was a small chance she just got lost, but it seems she did indeed come here with a mission.
...also, unless she was just kind of wandering the forest aimlessly, she's probably known where Eda was the whole time. Which is... not surprising in the slightest, really, all things considered. (Not least of which is that I don't think Eda makes much of an effort to conceal where she lives.)
It looks as if time has run out on their prior agreement, huh. Chances are, Lilith was putting this off for as long as she possibly could - if Episode 11 is any indication, she doesn't want to fight Eda on this. Nothing much has changed on Eda's end, so something must have changed on hers; whatever's brought her here, it's probably important.
This makes me wonder - how far out can he go? Is his definition of 'in the forest' 5 feet away from the house, or somewhere way out in the middle of nowhere..?
wait. is that
LILITH ?????????????

Aaaalrighty! And now, let us forge onwards once more!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch Owl House...
Hmmmmm, I know I've heard that name before -
Ah, there we go! I thought it might be the guys who got attacked by the fake inspector, but that was Glandus - this school just gets an offhanded mention earlier in the episode.
Also, I'm deeply amused that for all Eda's talk of despising everything Hexside-related, she took enough pride in her school Grudgby career(?) that she kept the jacket.
Oho! As always with Eda, we've got a treasure trove of fun details here.
the central photo, of course- featuring Eda and a fancy trophy that, looking at it, doesn't seem to have a counterpart in Boscha's collection? So either the trophy designs have changed over time, or Eda managed to achieve something in her time that Boscha hasn't.
And then underneath that is what looks to be a Grudgby-related newspaper clipping, possibly about that match.
what looks like a ticket for 'ME AND MY GHOULFRIENDS II'... movie? or perhaps a school theatre performance, like the present-day one shown earlier?
RATS ???
aaand we have another, rather intriguing photo featuring two other students aside from Eda...
first, behind Eda there's a redhead student wearing glasses from the potions track; quite possibly an incidental/background character, but looking at that student (the expression mostly) did... lead me to wonder about what Lilith looked like when she was younger, since Eda herself has had such a drastic change in appearance...
second, there's a student from the music track hanging out with Eda whose face seems rather deliberately obscured by another ticket - they're wearing glasses and carrying some sort of instrument bag, but that's about all I can tell.
And then there's the photo itself being signed with a fancy "R". Intriguing!
also, underneath the photo is a... sticker? pin? with a distinctive design, but I can't recall off the top of my head if it's made an appearance before... maybe a book club or something of the sort?
I'm not sure 'friends' is entirely the right term to use at this point, but it does seem that Amity hasn't cut Boscha & co. off so much as she's just... stopped spending time with them, so perhaps it's still applicable to some degree?
That said... if Amity's previous attempt to intervene is any indication, her trying to talk to Boscha might ultimately hurt more than help the situation.
Amity backing up for perfectly normal reasons and not to put a little distance between them because that proximity is a little too much outside the context of cool tagteam dance and also probably reminds her a lil bit of the dance in question
Yeaaah, this checks out, and also handily provides some confirmation regarding why Amity hasn't made further efforts to keep Boscha off Willow's back since earlier (though she also. probably didn't know how bad it had gotten) - she doesn't think she'll have any success, and at worst she could wind up making more trouble for Willow.
Ahh, I see this one's a human-exclusive.
Thanks - I'm glad to be back!!
Regarding spoilers, this is actually something I should probably touch on sooner rather than later, now that I'm aiming to be more active again. So, some key points:
I feel hesitant to say this, since it feels as though I'm inviting misfortune in doing so, but - so far - I haven't seen much in the way of ending-specific spoilers! The extent of my knowledge is mostly the meta-info that the ending had to be rushed a bit on account of the show getting canceled.
Speaking generally, I do come across the occasional spoiler here and there (nothing major as far as I'm aware), but I've found that if I pay as little attention as possible to a spoiler, there is a decent chance I'll forget about it before long. Which leads me to my next, possibly most important point...
When I started this blog, I made an effort to describe every spoiler I saw in as much detail as possible, but I began to realize that doing so enabled the spoiler to remain clearer in my memory. As such, moving forward, I will not bring up every spoiler I see as soon as I see it, in the hopes that if I pretend it didn't happen, it might delete itself from my memory.
This has actually worked before (which. I know because I've gotten re-spoiled a couple of times on stuff I initially forgot) and in fact, there are probably spoilers on this very blog that I no longer remember!
With that being said, I will bring up spoilers under certain conditions:
a) If something comes up in the show that I've been spoiled on, I will make note of it (for example, when Emperor Belos was first mentioned in Episode 5, I already knew that a character with that name existed - and even though he still hasn't made an appearance, I have some idea about what role he's going to play in the story)
b) If my reaction/observation/speculation about something is influenced in any way by a spoiler, I will acknowledge it then (for example, my next post for Episode 17 which is currently sitting in my drafts)
To summarize, there haven't been any huge changes in my spoiler knowledge since I started the show. I'm making the best effort I can to keep my reactions as raw and unspoiled as possible, and it takes a bit of trial and error to figure out how best to do that, so hopefully my current approach won't be too much of an issue for anyone?
If anyone has concerns or needs clarification, feel free to ask!
A quick update: I'm a little sleepier than I expected, so I shall instead resume the liveblogging tomorrow. (Plus some more responses, potentially?)
How... normal is this for a school sports team? Though, I guess it's not clear yet if non-school-based Grudgby teams exist; if this is the equivalent of, say, a regional professional sports team in this world, then the fanfare is understandable.
Me too, kiddo. (That's the expression of someone who's hearing the same line for about the fiftieth time...)
I fear that the lettering on that poster in the background might be a little too unclear to make out, but I might page back through my rune posts between sessions to see if I can't figure it out anyways.
Oooh, good to know! I don't have much frame of reference for what is and isn't normal with sports, but that does kinda make sense. Thanks for the info!
omg you're into linguistics??? i majored in linguistics in college!!! i was into primarily pragmatics and language use (my favorite class was language and sexuality taught by the main pragmatics professor, absolutely fascinating class)!! I haven't done anything with it since then (in like a professional or for fun sense) but i think about linguistics at least once a day and i could probably talk about pragmatic theory for actual hours
'eeey, nice!
Yep, also a linguistics major here! I've had a bit of a Luz-type approach to it though - I can't really name a favourite area of linguistics, and I enjoyed pretty much every class I've taken. (That being said, I actually... haven't really taken any pragmatics-related courses? (Yet?) I'm certainly curious about it though!)
If I had to narrow it down a bit... I think I have the most fun with language structure (i.e. phonetics, syntax, etc. which. miiight have something to do with how much I've gotten into deciphering the TOH runes...) and language documentation! Also, I find translation between languages to be a particularly fascinating subject, but I have learned that this doesn't quite qualify as linguistics on its own... (unfortunately)
Thank you!!!
It's actually my birthday now (the 10th) but it's about an hour away from midnight where I am so I'm cutting it a liiittle close here.
And also - very nice! The more linguistics majors, the merrier!
Happy May, everybody!
To celebrate, let's, uh
get back to it, shall we?
I don't have immediate access to an episode description on the downloaded version, and I'm trying to avoid looking at too much extraneous info on theowlclub website, but I did see something about Boscha. Intriguing!
As for what else we have here, the title is fun (and adds a W to that episode title message that I should. probably refresh my memory on I'll get back to you all on that) but vague enough that I can't quite make any predictions based on it.
And then the thumbnail... appears to be a trophy case? My first thought was that it was the one at Hexside, but checking past episode caps perhaps not (I've also observed that locations containing an episode's hidden message usually don't make reappearances, so there's that too).
Regardless, between the trophies and the Boscha mention, I'm guessing this might be a school-related episode?
After the ominous note last episode ended on, I... actually wouldn't at all be surprised if this episode doesn't touch on it yet, for the sake of dragging out that sweet, sweet suspense. But we are nearing the end of the season, so anything could happen!
It's a bit late on my end, so I likely won't get too far, but getting started is the most important (and most difficult) thing, so let's get to it!
Thank you!!! I'm very happy to be liveblogging this episode! It's been a whole lot of fun so far, and I'm very excited to see where it goes from here!

Ooooh boy it's happening!!!!
impeccable comedic timing as always.......
I love Boscha's little eyebrow raise while Luz is dragging out the challenge for dramatic effect
also her shocked face in response to the challenge is very funny
Luz's patented conflict resolution tactic returns, but this time she's issuing someone else's challenge (unbeknownst to the challenger even) instead of her own
I mean. it's certainly worked(?) for her before!
so technically this time she's not referencing the books directly - the challenge is just a natural conclusion based on what Amity said - but if I had a nickel for every time Luz based her approach to a given situation on The Good Witch Azura........
I feel as though Willow and Gus should be more used to this kind of shenaniganry by now, but it's also been a long day for them and they missed out on a solid 1/2 of Luz's thought process
summary of the episode, methinks
I was going to make a comment about how Boscha's not only bullying here, she's also littering-
-buuut she's not going to get in trouble for that any more than she would for anything else.
I'm not sure 'friends' is entirely the right term to use at this point, but it does seem that Amity hasn't cut Boscha & co. off so much as she's just... stopped spending time with them, so perhaps it's still applicable to some degree?

Ahh, I see this one's a human-exclusive.
the... enthusiasm?? desperation?? in her voice here is sending me
She does have a certain recent favour from Luz to repay, after all...
A+ imitation, no notes
Amity's had to put up with Star Captain(tm) Boscha for quite a while as well, huh...
It's perhaps not on the same level as the bullying, but pretending to be on board with All That when you really couldn't care less probably qualifies as its own form of torment.
