“Don’t Work with Death!”

“Don’t work with death, because then you invite it into your house.”

Death is already in my house. Death is everywhere. Death is what decays the plant matter that feeds my garden. Death is what feeds the herbs I use in my spells, for each grows from what died before it.

Death is what feeds my family - death of plants, the death of animals. I would not disrespect the spirits of that which feeds us by ignoring their sacrifice. 

Death is the veil between my ancestors and myself, keeping them at rest and then acting as the gate for them to step into their next life.

When I do hospice work and sit with someone who is accepting their approaching death, I don’t tell them death is something to fear or avoid. I tell them death is the friend that walked beside them, every step of their life, maintaining the balance of the world, and waiting for them with open arms, to escort them to rebirth.

I would not ignore life’s partner, not for arrogance or fear or ignorance. When I go to my own, I want to greet death with respect, acceptance, and gratitude.

what is a full moon cacao ceremony :0 I'm a baby witch so sorry if it's common knowledge!!!

Hey! I only found out about it a few months ago! Basically its a gathering of people around the full moon who drink cacao (raw form of chocolate) and set intentions! Cacao has high levels of theobromine which is a mild stimulant and is known for its heart opening qualities! It really aids in making spiritual connection to yourself and your heart and allows for a deeper meditation! The one I went to a bunch of people turned up and we all sat in a circle and did some light yoga and some meditation, we shared our fears and also what we loved. We then drank our cacao and had some sound baths and did more meditation. It was so peaceful and lovely and you can stay after for snacks and to chat to the people around you! I defintley felt lighter and more loving for a few weeks after that so got my own little pack to try at home. I didn't have much time to meditate at home because Dog, but I was super hyped the whole day and felt amazing.

Also idk if you listen to podcasts, but Magic and Mindfulness podcast is really interesting to listen to especially as a baby witch, I've discovered a few things recently on there there I didn't know about and the host is lovely!! They have a whole episode on cacao, if you're interested in further info!

I will always be a huge supporter of the idea that if you practice witchcraft, it is incredibly important that you also study - and it can be self study! - sciences. Maybe it's just because I'm a stem nerd at heart, but studying science will not only help your craft, but will help keep you grounded in reality as well. More and more scientists are writing books in prose for the general population, ED-x and Coursera allow for you to take free classes, z-library has all the textbooks you could ever want. Science helps inform the craft. A lot of what we're doing is connecting to the universe and, if you follow the psychological model, is actually rather scientific in nature. I'm not saying you need to become an expert in theoretical physics, but reading books about physics and chemistry and psychology will be incredibly useful to you and your craft, and you might even find that you love it! My Stephen Hawking collection is my pride and joy, I love the fact that I own all of his books, and have read them. A lot of people become convinced that when it comes to witchcraft and science, it needs to be one or the other, but that isn't the case! One can inform the other.
