i love your characterization so much!! i read fanfics/scenarios a lot and nobody quite does it like you honestly,, you've got it down 100% your inclusions of the other members are so great in every scenario and seem so accurate to how they would treat one of the boys with a crush/significant other, and even when you include a lot of them they always retain their individual personality which is so awesome!! you're definitely my favorite writing blog

oh my god first of all i’m so sorry it took this long to respond. i sat for many nights sitting there, contemplating how i could ever express my gratitude in words. so first of all, thank you. as a fanfic writer, i think that’s the biggest thing a lot of us worry about. portraying the boys ina. way that’s positive and true to their character. especially with a group as large as nct it’s sometimes hard to make sure everyone keeps a distinct voice and persona in writing. so your compliment is one of the biggest and best i could ever receive. thank you so much anon!! you truly have made my week and have made me so much more confident as a writer. i’m glad you can find enjoyment in my writing!! to be your favorite writer is the biggest compliment i could ever receive and i hope i continue to make you happy in the future! thank you for loving me and supporting me!! i love you ♥️♥️♥️♥️

angst and fluff? - jaehyun- 1141 (sorry)

    “jaehyun, i don’t understand why you’re upset!!”

    jaehyun does not like to admit he’s an easily jealous person. he knows it comes from a place of insecurity, of thinking that maybe he just isn’t as amazing as everyone expects him to be- whatever. he just knows that it’s an issue, and issue that is now plaguing his relationship.

his relationship with you. he doesn’t know exactly what it is yet. romance? that much is obvious? but dating? maybe. your boyfriend? well he wouldn’t call himself that just yet. in love? well that’s taking things to the extreme now isn’t it? you two have been dancing around the idea for such a long time now that jaehyun sometimes forgets that you two aren’t together, and that this beautiful, blossoming love story is just up in his head. that’s probably why he’s running into problems tonight. that’s definitely why he’s running into problems tonight.

see, he wasn’t supposed to get jealous that you and taeil were hitting it off. new year’s parties are supposed to be fun, exciting, filled with only good feelings and best wishes for the upcoming year. at the beginning of the night, jaehyun was in a good mood, a great one even, because what could be better than spending the night with all of his favorite people? the music is lively, the games wild, the chatting amiable, and the countdown show roaring over the television- really, the conditions to make the night perfect.

and you came along too, which of course, makes this whole adventure more of a dream than a reality. jaehyun had invited you (at the request of donghyuck and johnny, he swears), and then spent the entire morning worrying whether or not you would show, but- but you had come, you had actually come, walking through the door with rosy cheeks and a veggie tray in hand. the other boys giggled at your snack choice, but jaehyun was quick to take the platter from your arms, thanking you over and over again for thinking to bring something to a party you weren’t in charge of running.

towards the start of the evening, you stayed close to jaehyun’s side, taeyong and sicheng’s… unique dancing having scared you off from the living room. you two sat on the couch, shoulder to shoulder, talking amongst yourselves quietly, until jeno and jaemin sat on either side of you two and whined about being the most absolutely boring pair they had ever seen. you laughed and smiled, and jaehyun’s heart started to flutter because- because wow, he’s so absolutely smitten with you and-

and so after jeno and jaemin had grown tired of the mario kart battle they had dragged you into, you decided to mingle with the others, which jaehyun knows better than to be upset about, but, but your particular comfort level with taeil has upset him more than a lot. taeil is absolutely harmless, jaehyun knows that, but you two are just hitting it off so nicely, sitting there, snuggled up to each other on the loveseat-

this explains why jaehyun is now sulking over in the kitchen. ten and chenle and renjun have not been the most supportive people in the world, but yuta noticed jaehyun’s drop in mood and decided to come over.

“i think you should just confess your undying love.” yuta shrugs, pulling a chicken wing off of mark’s long forgotten plate. “it’s a new year, new you, right? just be like hey there hot stuff wanna make out? guaranteed win.”

jaehyun’s nose crinkles up in disgust, but a small laugh escapes his lips. “that seems a little extreme.”

“really? i think it’s a good idea.” yuta starts to laugh. “but seriously man, just say something. i think they like you too.”

jaehyun feels his cheeks start heat up, but he gives a little nod. “i mean… what could go wrong right?”

yuta smiles wide, and gives him a reassuring slap on the back. jaehyun winces but stands up, and with a nervous sigh, heads back into the family room where you and taeil continue to ramble on about dogs. jaehyun approaches the two of you, then gives an embarrassed cough. taeil immediately smirks and excuses himself, mentioning something about needing to make sure that sicheng and taeyong are well hydrated after their dance battle. confused, you say that their dancing ended over an hour ago, but taeil has already disappeared into the kitchen.

“um, can i talk to you?” jaehyun smiles slightly. he glances over his shoulder, where jeno and jaemin have stopped squabbling to listen in on your conversation. “alone, i meant.”

you nod, and stand up, then follow jaehyun into the hallway. compared to the other rooms, it’s quiet here, separated from the noise of the tv and party poppers and ten screaming. it’s almost too quiet, and you start to blush just thinking about the implications of being caught alone with jaehyun.

oh who are you kidding, you’ve dreamed about this moment forever.

“look...” jaehyun clears his throat. “um, someone told me that you maybe… you maybe like me?”

your heart drops into the pits of your stomach. your face goes dark red, from your cheeks, to the tips of your ears, and you can’t do anything but stammer and quickly avert your gaze.

jaehyun continues, his voice shaking just as badly as his hands. “you’re my best friend-”

“oh my god, i knew i shouldn’t have started crushing on you!” you cut him off, already feeling the hot tears run down your face. “i couldn’t help myself, i really, i just, i knew better than to fall for you but i did and-”

jaehyun grabs your hands, shaking his head. “hey, hey, just listen, okay?” he thumbs the tears from under your eyes. “you’re my best friend, but who says that best friend and boyfriend can’t be the same person? i really, really like you, so i was wondering if maybe you might let me be your boyfriend or something?”

your eyes widen in shock, and before you have a moment to register anything that’s happening, yuta, followed along by sicheng, johnny, and taeil, bursts into the hallway and shouts, “hey everyone, they’re finally gonna kiss!”

immediately you two can hear the scrambling of many feet. embarrassed, you bury your face in jaehyun’s chest, but he only laugh, and gently tips your chin upwards.

“i know that we’re supposed to wait for the new year but maybe we should just kiss now? he mumbles, leaning in closer.

ignoring the excited yells of the boys around you, you press your lips to jaehyun’s. he wraps his arms around your waist, you drape his arms around his neck, and in that moment, you swear that you two are the only things on the face of the planet that matter at all.
