"Same here," Hadri chuckled. "We haven't properly seen him in a while, so it's nice."
He looked at Rean and Crow, while Rufus discreetly grabbed his phone. "Alright, who's ready for all seven hells to break loose?"
Rean blinked slowly as he glanced at Crow. Uh...
"What do you MEAN all seven hells are breaking loose?! It's JUST a dinner party... Right?"
"Yeah. Sure," Hyth laughed. It's definitely just a dinner party. Go and enjoy. Get your cutscenes started."
"Good girl." He got all the way down so he could hold out his hands for a hug and give her a forehead kiss. "Have fun!"
Ari giggled before kissing her father back on the cheek. Big kiss! "Okies!"
Hugging her Mama and Daddy just as tight, Ari grabbed Satoshi's free hand and... Pulled him in the direction of the patio.
"...She is over the moon she gets to spend time with Uncle 'Osh. ...I'm glad."
"Our game is gonna have some scary stuff in it, and she doesn't like scary. But Pokémon aren't scary at all, right Ari? That's why you and Uncle Tosh are gonna have fun with something cute. Maybe if you find some you really like he'll let you give them names?"
Ari gasped as she looked up at her Godfather. "Really?!"
"Yeah! If we find a really cute one, you get to name it. So start thinking, okay?"
"Okay!"
Taking the bowl of popcorn from Rhea, Satoshi grinned. "Thanks. We're gonna have blast with this. Promise."
"Oh. I know you guys are. Once our scary stuff is done, we'll come get you. Okay, Ari?"
"Okies, Mama. No scary stuffs."
"Really? ...Damn, okay. I'll see if I can get the other two to give me a heads-up on that part at least, then, to make sure Ari's not around for it."
He turned his head as he heard familiar music start to play from the living room. Seemed they managed to get one of the laptops hooked to the TV screen.
"Wanna steal your and Ari's share of popcorn before you both flee with you Pokémon game?"
"Hell yeah. I ain't leaving our share of the popcorn behind. I was looking forward to that. I'll make sure that we don't gorge on the popcorn. Gotta leave room for dinner and all that."
Following Hadri into the living room, Satoshi stared at the screen for a moment before looking at his friends. "I'll be taking Ari into the other room to play Pokémon."
"Aw...Really?" Rean said.
"Pokes!!"
"Yeah. This is not appropriate for her."
Bending down, he laughed as Ari ran to him and he lifted her up. "Heard you like round and blue ones?"
"Yes!"
Tosh blinked before chuckling. "I'll see. Pokémon Black had a very strict Dex of only the 'Mons from that region. So. Marill may be in short supply. I'll find some cuties for her."
He raised an eyebrow. Oh?
"Has she?! Ari?! That's a little surprising but also not. She likes that Deku Scrub, huh?"
"She does. We ended up finding a bit of a compromise and I usually try to stay around the main hub since there's nothing too creepy there besides the stupid-ass moon. We do all the mini-games as a Deku. ...But it does make it a bit of a struggle to make any progress in the story, since the last zone is shaping up to be all about dealing with shadows and undead."
Satoshi chuckled softly. "Yeah. The Canyon is... Rough. You may have to start playing while she's napping or with her grandfather. There's a part with a girl and mummies that's... Hard."
Satoshi chuckled.
"I guess that's where we differ? Because I can do without the... Reaction-y stuff? I don't mind sitting in on it all... But I am also just happy to spend time with Ari and keeping her busy. I don't think she needs to see people losing limbs or getting chopped in half. You know? So. Come get me when they're done and I will pull myself away from playing a game with Ari. Pokémon good for her? I found my old 3DS..."
"Pokémon is perfectly fine. Bonus points if you can find literally anything from the Marill line, she adores that shit. And I agree with her not needing to see something that's clearly rated for teens, so thanks for taking her for a bit-- but also, did we tell you yet she's been wanting to watch me play Majora's Mask of all things? No matter how many times we warn her it's the 'scary' fairy game, she still wants in on it because she really likes when I run around as a shrub person."
Tosh blinked before chuckling. "I'll see. Pokémon Black had a very strict Dex of only the 'Mons from that region. So. Marill may be in short supply. I'll find some cuties for her."
He raised an eyebrow. Oh?

"It's okay! It's okay!! Really. I love playing games with my friends. And maybe it'd be different if I was experiencing like... Online? But... I dunno. I guess I always thought of those types of things... Weird? I know it's a thing in the fandom... But..."
He scratched his cheek before humming.
"I guess it's 'cause I don't watch streamers of this game? So I don't get the whole 'Emotional Vampire' bit?"
He shrugged.
"I'm more interested in their theories than their reactions to bits, you know?"
"I know you don't mind, but I still feel a little guilty for assuming," Hadri chuckled.
"For what it's worth, I personally consider being interested in people's theories as being part of the 'emotional vampire' package. I dunno if everyone does, but I always think it's funny seeing how close or far off the mark they are, especially when you have all the context and they don't. I'm definitely planning to find out what the boys speculate is going to happen after they see the banquet, if you want in on that instead."
Satoshi chuckled.

"Ugh... I'm sorry. I wanted to include you 'cause I thought you'd want in on it, but if I'd known it wasn't your kind of thing, I wouldn't have imposed on you all like that. I know it still makes a decent excuse for you and Ari to see each other for a bit, but..."

...For a split second, the vision of someone else overlapped with the person in front of him.
Aaron shoved his hands in his pockets, averting his gaze and mulling over what he wanted to say, now that he was a little rattled.
"...Um. Thanks." It wasn't much, but he'd settle for that instead of nothing.
She tilted her head to the side before nodding.
"You're welcome," she murmured. "...Thank you for being good to my son."
