Hope Rekindled (Gelebor | Aerybel)
Meanwhile, the loss of blood had started to bring exhaustion to the elf, quicker than she had expected.
The smell was something his memory banks had branded into his dna for the rest of his life. The accompanying sounds and heavy shuffling of uncovered feet hit his intense sense of hearing like a flare of thunder after a display of lightning to the planet.
He had lived through a similar situation once before. But now, as he reached for his weapon and brandished it for the first time in battle in the longest of times, he knew the odds were not in his favor. Before it had been his coven and himself, his brother, and the blessing of Auri-El that they might surpass the onslaught. This time, however, there were only three to withstand the small mob of their relatives.
This time--
Cursing at his lack of tact, Gelebor's initial need to relocate Aerybel had caused any gift of surprise to fall to the wayside as he heard them coming his direction. How many, he was not sure, but the footfalls belonged to several of them. How many past that, he could not narrow.
Pressing the cool blade to his forehead, he whispered a prayer of protection. Not for himself, but for his Aerybel, as he took a defensive stance --his broad frame mounted upon the cave-floor like a dangerous wall that threatened violence if it was to be pressed upon.
"Auri-El will smite you, brethren!" He growled, his former military training resurfacing as one remembers the gift of swimming or that of a musical instrument --second nature that never truly left. The Betrayed listened to his words, lack of recognition --or understanding-- pressing their lips higher into a snarl as they lunged his direction.
*Oiolossë beamed in response before looking around in amazement "Wow, you can see lots from here!" she said excitedly.~SnowElfOiolossë.*
Gelebor ran a hand through his hair, his defined profile illuminated by the setting light pressing against the ancient bone-structure of his people, "Indeed. Far more than many of the inhabitants of Skyrim will ever lay eyes upon. You will see many sights along your travels, Losse, but I beg of you, never forget the visage of your homeland. Or of your time with me."
*Oiolossë looked at Gelebor with some concern "I'm sorry Gel, I didn't mean to do that. I just say what Auri-El tells me to, I hope I didn't make you unhappy..." she said, clearly worried that she had somehow upset her guardian.~SnowElfOiolossë.* (You're a good roleplayer and very tolerant of me and my pestering. You helped shape Oiolossë with your wonderful Gelebor portrayal. So thanks for being so nice to me and understanding. I might do a small adult rp with her soon, but will switch back.)
The hitch in his breathing finally settled as he shook his head, his hand caressing the top of her head in an effort to soothe any hesitation or misreadings of his reaction as much as possible, "Quite the contrary, child, I find the message well-received and just all-together invigorating." He couldn't help but give a light chuckle, "I am pleased to know Auri-El holds you in so high a regard."

He raise a hand in greeting, his starlit eyes narrowed in upon her, "Greetings, maiden."
“Dear brother, you best not look away from that pathetic pile of rubble you covet so — Who knows what tragedy might befall it, if you were to alleviate your gaze for even a brief moment?”
suddenly, he glanced over his shoudler, certain that the shiver that had commuted down his spine was not merely that of coincidence.

Hope Rekindled (Gelebor | Aerybel)
Only after she had found them, had she realized that she’d spent too long wandering as the light was beginning to fade already. She had gotten off track, wondering— hoping that it wouldn’t have worried the Knight-Paladin. The elf decided to make her way back immediately, with everything she had to bring back, and that was when she spotted them.
It was taking entirely too long. He could tell by the lack of troll activity within the cave that nightfall was coming upon the land. And yet, he found no signs of the younger mer-woman whom he'd come to care for within the walls of the mountain. Instead, he returned to silence. Glancing at the statue to Auri-El, Gelebor made a quick utterance of a prayer before dashing off the way he'd left her. He had known better than to let a woman go unattended through the Vale. His lack of tact was appalling. What if she was afraid, hurt, or worse yet-- killed?
Calling her name through the thick accent of Falmer tongue, the Knight-Paladin searched as far as his oath allowed, his heart punishing his ribcage as he stared out into the snow-covered land before him.
Something was wrong.
"Aerybel!"
*Oiolossë pouted but then smiled and proceeded to try and climb up Gelebor. "Then I'll just look out from your shoulders then!" she chirped happily.~SnowElfOiolossë.*
He grunt as she ascended his tall elven form. His white hair pressed against his forehead as she leaned over his brow and peered down into his ice blue eyes, "You're quite the look-out, Losse."
(Those Iceland pictures are glorious.) *Oiolossë turned to him, her eyes shining with an inner light that was of an ageless wisdom. "Auri-El thanks you for your devotion, and says I will bring your reward to you, and to have faith..." the light dimmed and she seemed to be back to normal again.~SnowElfOiolossë.* (Thanks, she similar but not quite like, Florentius and Arkay in Dawnguard. Also I'm just guessing how Arch-Curates looked when communing with Auri-El, but maybe Gelebor can recognize it?
{gelebor would totally recognize any and all things chantry/auri-el worship related, seeing as he's a knight-paladin. that's the next level right under arch-curate. so he's pretty high up the ranks of worship/religion as far as that's concerned. I love it. btw you're great. thank you for being such a doll.}

Gelebor froze on the spot, his inner workings cemented to his bones as he did his best to rationalize what had just happened. Had..she...had Auri-el...what was this all about? Even one as old and experienced in the world such as he knew a rare occurence when he witnessed one. This child...ever since finding her, he had fallen prey to her loving touch and gentle smile. But the talents of her being had been hard to notice. Just who was this young Falmer child he held so close to his heart?

With those words, she turned nervously on her heel, traversing through the remainders of the travel that would lead her to the Vale, where she would find a bit of home, or at least some sort of closure.
Gelebor watched her for a long while after she departed for the Vale. He watched as her hair swished from shoulder to shoulder, her small, lithe form tentative as it branched into the new surroundings.
And suddenly, as much as it pained him, he turned on his heel and headed back to the shrine from whence he came. Auri-El would surely punish him for this small lapse of absence. He would make amends with a brief lash to his body. It was the least he could do to punish his own self.
In the meanwhile, contrary to where he knew his heart should be for prayer and redemption, Gelebor went to on to patrol the cave once more, his mind settled heavily upon Aerybel.
