When I started watching Dark, I thought it was gonna be a standard murder mystery show. I wasn’t expecting all this emotional, existential shit

watching netflix’ dark is like *trying to remember characters‘ name* *crying about the cinematography* *confusion* *trying to remember 5 different timelines* *crying about the music* *more confusion* *screaming* *wondering who the fuck wrote this plot and how they’re not losing their minds* *crying about the cinematography again* *frantically typing important plot points into the notes app* *discovering a recurring theme* *making a new connection and feeling like sherlock himself for but a brief moment until you’re confronted with 5 new mysteries* *confusion again* *crying about the cinematography*
THE FRENCH ARE HERE CLAUDIA
You know a series has a successful finale when even though almost none of the main characters have a conventional happy ending, none of the main ships (Jonas and Martha, Regina and Aleksander, Noah and Elisabeth) end up together happily ever after, characters cease to exist and are erased from the universe with no one remembering them, and one of the most disliked characters actually has a happy ending and it is still a very satisfying ending that it is beautifully written, acted and edited.
“not all cops-”
you’re right; ulrich nielsen apparently doesn’t give a shit about anything other than where his dick’s going in any world.
noah in season 1: *is basically satan*

That’s St. Christopher. The patron saint of travelers. That’s a nice thought. Someone carrying us on our journey. Someone watching over us.

River would be so proud.
“[…] River began tutoring his younger brother about cinema. “My brother came home and he was like, ‘We need to watch this movie called Raging Bull.’ And I’m like, ‘What?’ Prior to that, I watched Caddyshack and Spaceballs. And Woody Allen comedies.”
Not long after, he recalls his brother making a strange prediction. “He suggested I change my name [back to Joaquin] and then, I don’t know, six months later, whatever it was, we were in Florida, we were in the kitchen, and he said, ‘You’re going to be an actor and you’re going to be more well known than I am.’ Me and my mom looked at each other like, ‘What the fuck is he talking about?’
“I don’t know why he said that or what he knew of me at the time. I hadn’t been acting at all. But he also said it with a certain weight, with a knowing that seemed so absurd to me at the time, but of course now, in hindsight, you’re like, ‘How the fuck did he know?’ ”
— Joaquin Phoenix for Vanity Fair, October 2019.
“Don’t fix me; Love me for what’s broken.”
— Seth Godin, The Icarus Deception
“If you get tired learn to rest, not quit.”
