“I don’t think that I accepted that I wasn’t gonna die young until I was 26 or 27. I really don’t think I fully…when I was 14, 15, 16, 17–I mean I knew as sure as I know that I am wearing green shoes that I was going to die before much happened. It was a certainty for me. And I had shaken off the directly suicidal urge by the time I was 21 or 22, but I still was pretty sure I was going to die pretty young, it really felt like an inevitability. It takes a long time to realize no, you’ve changed…if you shared those feelings with people at some point you go, ‘well, I guess we’re going to stick around.’ And it’s a funky thing to admit because there’s a part of your inner younger self that kind of judges you for that.”
John Darnielle fucking me up with the single most relatable thing he’s ever said
yet another fun thing about camels is that, white ruminants, they’ll eat what whatever they can find in the desert, whether that’s leaves, seeds, thorns... or meat... or bones...
I mean...aren’t cows, horses, and deer known to eat meat and bones if they get the chance?
yes but camels are rather more habitual about it
So what you’re saying is that scene in The Prince of Egypt......
.....could’ve ended differently?
much differently:
Camel Bites Owner's Head Off After Being Made To Stand In Heat All Day
Thank you for answering a question I never should have asked
So this prompted me to wonder how the fuck the camel could bite someone's head off. Cows don't have top front teeth, and biting off a finger let alone a whole head could be hard. From what I saw, looks like camels have milk teeth on the top front but that's it. I ALSO saw tho that they have fuckin canines. Deadass fangs. They're used to break through tough plant matter like bark, but they sure look like they can also do some considerable damage to meat too. Maybe even bone. And that's just...terrifying. I mean, look at this! That's not normal to see on a ruminant, especially considering how big camels are! What the fuck!!
yeah the males have big horrible dracula fangs
I love camels
But are they known for castrating each other with those canines like alpacas and llamas?

Fitzroy:
It’s been one month since Athena has been gone. I miss her so much.
Beating up her friends in dream land 💤
Fancy trots in fancy weather.
It’s been nearly 3 weeks since you’ve been gone. I still look for you in the window when I pull in the drive way, and in your stall when I walk through the barn. Miss you baby girl. I wish you were here.
It’s been 4 days without you and it feels like a lifetime
I said goodbye to my best friend today. It feels like a piece of me is gone.
From the first moment I saw you to the very last second we said goodbye. I knew we were meant to be together. I knew you were mine. My first horse. My best friend. My closest friend. My best friend who let me kiss her nose even though she didn’t like it. And happily wiggled her nose in my hair.
8 years will never be enough. There were so many things we did not get to do.
But 8 years is still a long time. There are so many memories that I will never forget. So many places I wouldn’t have seen if it were not for you.
I said goodbye to my best friend today. And I will never be the same.

it’s a beautiful day to give me money
Up on the wall!
Always liked this one.

Pleas visit Athena on her instagram if that’s something you’re into. We’ve been on a long journey the last month or so, between her Lyme diagnosis and her Cushing diagnosis it’s been a time™️. Her instagram is the same as my blog here- @winterstormathena. I’m better at posting there than I am here anymore. I know Athena has some friends (fans?) on here that we’ve accumulated over the years. So if you’re interested feel free to give her a follow over there! I try to post daily. 🙂
Here’s what we think of the hurricane
Athena has been going through some health issues recently. Tumblr is too much for me at this point and like I’ve said in the past I spend more of my time on Instagram and my personal Facebook. for anyone that’s interested in keeping up with Athena and I her new Instagram is by the same name here @winterstormathena. Thanks for sticking with us all these years ☺️
After 8 years I figured she deserves a new special fly mask
Do you ever feel...
