Space Clunker

I felt like trying something different, so i drew a spaceship. I didn't use a reference because its just a doodle and I really just wanted to explore some tools and practice with rulers.

It looks like a space version of an old camper lol

I did this exercise over about 5 days. Originally, it was to practice head atari and jaw shapes, but when I realized how widely those things can vary, I decided to add features to see how changes in face/jaw shape, proportion, and placement affect the faces that emerge.

In the end, I got 15 unique characters' faces!

My first foray into coloring and shading. I took this sketch from a few months ago and tried to color it. The results are... well, its my first time okay?! 😅😅

Either way, Ann is always cute whatever the lighting :)

It's messy. Not perfect. Far from great. But it is 100% mine and I am proud. No references - from imagination. Took a little over 2 hours from sketch to finish.

Drew a panel from Dandadan (manga spoiler chapter 100) - Pretty happy with the result!

G pen and Speedball super black ink on 9×12 Bristol board. Saji, maru pens and soft brush for some details.

I decided to challenge myself this weekend by recreating a page from Dandadan. Studying Tatsu showed me a lot about textures, human-adjacent figures and composition. I will admit I chickened out on making a background. I had an idea (I couldnt really recreate the panel's background since it uses digitally painted tones), but I was happy with the piece and didn't want to blow it!

Second comic featuring these dough bois just trying to live their lives in the worlds of video games. After readong the first one ("Camping" - Dark Souls) my sister said she would love to see me do Skyrim, and I thought that would be a great idea!

First time doing a background - I figure I ought to get comfortable doing them. This is a sketch of a panel from a Hotline Miami comic I want to draw. I've had the script and layout done for awhile, but now my skill level is finally starting to catch up. I think another couple months of improvement and I'll be ready to give the full comic a real go!

Finished Morgana last night. Translating the colors from the reference to grays took some thought, but I think it turned out all right! I'd like to get really good at values before messing with colors.
