“Dusky….I thought we had discussed this. Until you learn how to cook, it would be better if you only assisted in the kitchen if anything. Charcoal and fires don’t have a place in a home dinner.”
“If you want, you can come over for dinner.”
“Praise Arceus!”
“Y-yes ma’am... Sorry ma’am... I just really wanna be able to help somehow ya know..? It’s just those motherly instincts kicking in...”
“Moms aren’t supposed to poison their kiddos either.”
“Shicchi and Kururu? I don’t think I’ve met them either, but if they’re friends of yours then they must be nice!”
“They’re the other two thirds of my idol group, Candy*Dream. They’re the absolute best. We gotta all have a get together or somethin’ sometime. We always talk about it, but never actually do it!”
“She’d like pics of us too so I’d say it’s a fair trade. You’ll really like her, she’s super adorable!”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less you sly dog. Sounds like a plan! I bet Shicchi and Kururu would like to meet her too. Ya can’t meet a girl without her girlfriends after all.”
“Sort of! Meri’s my girlfriend, she’s the girl I told you about. I need to remember to introduce you to her, you’d like her a lot!”
“oooooho Musey has a girlfriend now huh? Musta slipped my mind or something! I’m so happy for you guys! Please lemme meet her sometime! Pics or it didn’t happen!”
Anyway, I promised Meri I would spend this evening with her, but I could come by tomorrow and cook something up? It’ll be like a belated Thanksgiving dinner or something.”
“OMIGOSH THANK YOU.”
“HEY IT’S NOT THAT BAD! Ahem, anywho, that does sound nice!........”
“...And who is this Meri? Is this a kissy kissy daaaate?”
Romance isn’t always about big gestures though. Sometimes it’s the words the man finds or the effort that he has gone to. It doesn’t have to be something expensive.
The young girl waited excitedly outside of Professor Oak’s lab, her heart racing. The beginning of not only her Pokemon Training career, but her journey to fulfill her dream of becoming a water-type gym leader was about to begin! To say she was excited was, frankly, an understatement.
“This is it...”
Upon entering the lab, she was greeted by Oak’s aides and all that other stuff, but she barely heard them as they took her back to Oak himself, her mind was spinning and she couldn’t wait to get her first Pokemon! Her precious squirtle! The start of her water-type team!
Oak came into view, and beside him a Pokeball! Dusk thought that there was usually a set of three to choose from, but this town was small, maybe he went ahead and picked out squirtle for her!
“Hello, and welcome to your first step into the World of Pokemon!” Oak began with his usual spiel for new trainers, “I’m sure that- Erm.. Miss..?”
Dusk was already poking at the small capsule and looking up to the main with glistening eyes. “Is this my new Pokemon sir?”
The professor laughed, “Of course you wouldn’t want to wait… Yes, that is your new Pokemon Ms. Dareal, I’m sure the two of you will become fast friends!”
“Yes!!” Dusk beamed as she snatched the ball and tossed it in the air. “I can’t wait! C’mon out Squirtle!”
A blinding flash of light emitted from the pokeball and her pokemon began to take the form of… A Pikachu..?
“Pika!” The little yellow mouse greeted happily.
“W-what..? T-that’s not a squirtle..” The new trainer deflated as she watched the Pikachu scratch at its ear.
“I’m sorry Ms. Dareal but.. We simply didn’t have any squirtle left after all the other trainers came by this morning… But I assure you, Pikachu will be of great aide to you, and a valuable friend!”
“Thank you sir…” She replied, not bothering to hide her disappointment. The pikachu certainly picked up on that, even if the Professor didn’t seem to. Instead, he happily saw them off as her Pokemon journey began.
