âAinât nobody important,â and the voice became clearer and cleared with itâs elongated vowels, and the bulging eyes got closer and closer until⊠A small, scrawny little thing that looked like someone had fashioned an elf outta wire and adorned it with pastry off-white skin and chubby ears approached the alchemist and shoved her roughly, âJust some fella sleepinâ all nice âan cozy, till you waltzed 'round.â Moving her outta the way so he could take a nice refreshing piss near the cavernâs sunny entrance, âNo harm done though,â his eyes stearing down the yellow ball almost painfully, âI fuckinâ hate that sun, someone outta just shoot it down anâ be done with it, sure would make me job a whole lot easier.â
She brushed off the front of her dress after his shove, taking only slight offense. She squinted towards the entranceâs sunlight, then averted her eyes with a hand covering her peripherals, figuring it impolite to stare. âI mean, Iâd agree with you if the sun wasnât the center of life. At least for those of us who donât sleep and presumably live in caves.â Lorelei blinked, quickly realizing her words and the dull tone of her voice. âNo offense.âÂ
âI um... Iâm Lorelei. You donât need to tell me your name if youâd rather not. Iâm sorry to have disturbed you, I just,â She wanted to show that she wasnât a weak, ditzy elf. Even though she was. She wanted some edge.Â
âI was just searching for those... fucking glowing mushrooms. But theyâre a tad hard to find at peak size.â She said, trying out a âharsherâ curse than she usually used. Shaking her head to herself, she decided it didnât sound right. She sounded silly cursing, like a child.Â
âEither way. Do you need me to leave or something?â

Akira was reaching out toward the flame as she asked her questions, and his hand slowed to a stop just before reaching it. He slowly looked back at her, then raised his other hand up to put a finger in front of where his lips were. âShhhh.â He hushed her a second time.
He turned his head back to the flames of the candle, then put them out with his fingertips. Once the room was shrouded in darkness, he seemed to almost relax. He was in his element.Â
âStay close.â He finally spoke, his voice muffled slightly beneath his mask. He gave a light touch to her right arm to indicate the direction he was going, then stayed low as he crept out of the room.
A little frustrated, Lorelei bit her cheek. She almost wanted to defy him and go her own way. But, she didnât know what kind of danger could be nearby, and she had an unfortunate talent for getting herself into messes. Too, the allure of a mystery and an unusual person piqued her interest.
She sighed, begrudgingly stuffing another fistful of vampire dust into her mouth and creeping after him.

A smile broke out onto her face upon hearing the agreement, then she quickly moved to link arms with Lorelei. With a joy filled step, she began to lead her down the streets toward the tavern. âIâm Dita,â she said, seeming to almost keep her eyes on the woman beside her, âDita Darcia, my dear. My apologies for not introducing myself.â
âOh!â Lorelei matched her smile warmly, being as friendly as she could as she tried to push away any remaining guilt she held in her mind for taking the watch.Â
âYou have a pretty name, if itâs not strange for me to say so.â She kept Ditaâs pace, walking with her, arm in arm. Lorelei didnât necessarily know friendship, but if she had to guess, sheâd say that was it. She was excited for what the rest of the day held.
âAre we close?âÂ

Daeris chuckle,âThatâs understandable.â
She started down the road, waving for her to follow.
âDonât worry about a map right now, I know the way. And stay close.â
Lorelei gave a nod and followed behind her. She carefully foleded her map up and put it in her dress pocket.
âThank you so much, seriously! Iâm surprised Iâm not in the wilds somewhere lost already.â She chuckled.
âNo, Iâm Fine. Donât troub-â Gyldir began before his stomach chose that time to complain loudly, almost as if it knew they had been talking about it. ââŠUh, I suppose I am a bit peckish.â He said, his face reddening from embarrassment.
(Sorry for the wait. One word; First week of College after summerâŠ. Wait, thatâs six words. Oops )Â
Lorelei giggled. âIt seems our stomachs know weâre hungry before we do.â She glanced towards the market, looking over the people coming and going. âI just hope she hasnât sold out of her apples yet. The yellow ones are so soft...â She saw a young girl with an apple, no doubt from Carlottaâs stand. She felt a slight panic.Â
âWe should hurry!â
//Itâs fine! Sorry for the wait on my end, school started for me, too. :s//

While Aurette was certainly surprised at the tone of the womanâs voice, the eagerness in it, Millian didnât seem to care. She skipped into the small shack with a toothy grin, while Ari followed close behind.
âSome tea would be wonderful, thank you.â the Breton-Nord smiled; the small home certainly was better than sleeping on the hard ground, where her back would ache and her girl would complain throughout the night about the cold and the dew in her hair in the morning.
âWhatâs wrong with bugs, though?â Millie frowned as she got her tea, searching through the liquid as to find the bugs mentioned previously.
âMillie!â Aurette scolded. âIâm sorry about her. SheâsâŠnot like most little girls. Sheâd rather catch bugs and play with wooden swords, as opposed to wearing dresses and learning to play music or paint.â Aurette spotted an empty chair and took a seat, happy to finally be off her feet, but she wasnât quite relaxed yet.
âAw, Ma, I like ta paint, you know that.â Millian groaned.
âMy sweet, I donât think finger painting quite counts.â Ari chuckled, twirling a piece of her daughterâs hair. âThis really is a lovely place, Lorelei, thank you.â
Lorelei smiled and waved her hand nonchalantly. âItâs nothinâ, really. Thank you!â She sighed to herself. âItâs my own little plane of Oblivion. I try to keep it from total ruin.â
With a folded rag in her hand, she fetched her kettle by the handle from its spot in the fireplace, careful to keep from burning her hand. As she fixed the tea, she chuckled. âBut I donât see anything wrong with bugs. Not at all! Some are very lovely. Like butterflies or torchbugs.â She set the kettle down on her table, pulling teacups and saucers from a nearby shelf. âI just wouldnât want to eat any bugs, yâknow?â She offered a friendly smile to Millian.Â
She recalled her childhood fondly. She was quite similar as a child; She was more interested in roughhousing with the local boys and making mud pies than she was taking lute lessons and going to etiquette schools.Â
âI think itâs wonderful that Millian has unique interests. Iâm sure sheâll have a promising future in whatever interests her, especially with your guidance.âÂ
She poured the tea carefully, certain to spill not one drop. Then, she fetched a sugar bowl from her table top.Â
âSugar?âÂ

A young elf carried a crate full of yams towards the docks, her bare feet stinging against the rocky ground; today was delivery day. A farm a little bit to the West, run by a girl, Vesta, was expecting this delivery, and Telryn did not want to be late.
The small boat was ready with the last crate finally on board, and Telryn handed Eltane a few septims.
âThe farm today, aye?â the Redguard asked her as she took a seat. She nodded.
âI bet youâre tired of all these deliveries every week.â she grinned, leaning back to watch as Eltane took a seat opposite her and grabbed the oars. His muscled arms worked hard as they left the shore, slow at first, until the sand underneath the boat turned into smooth waters.
âAnything for you, my dear.â he winked.
Telryn smiled again, and relaxed against the pillows, waiting for her arrival to the Netch farm.
Lorelei sat under a tree, watching Vesta heard and feed the netches. They still scared her a little, but sheâd grown used to them. Sticky skin, glowing tentacles and all. It was Loreleiâs third time visiting Vesta at the netch farm. She was surprised Ciibia let her go back to Solstheim alone.Â
She watched Vesta carefully ration out food for the netches. Some leaves and other vegetation that was both farmed and wild. Vesta wore sturdy but soft leather gloves that she used to gently pet the netches to ease them, and to break up small scuffles the netch calves had. Vesta smiled at them. âI have a treat for you guys! Just wait until it arrives, okay?â She cooed to them. They almost seemed to understand her.
Lorelei smiled at Vesta. âShouldnât be long until Telryn arrives with the yams. My dad gets a little somehow when sheâs not supernaturally fast in her deliveries, so Iâm glad heâs off somewhere.âÂ
âTelryn?â Lorelei hadnât heard of her. âWhoâs she?â
âYouâll see! Sheâs real nice.â Vesta looked out over the waters. âShould be coming.â

The sounds of cold water cave fish and the flapping of bat wings was enough to unnerve anybody, but the worst were the eyes: Birdâs eyes looming atop their makeshift spittle nests, bat eyesâ hundreds of them clinging to the cavern ceiling by their tiny clawed feet⊠And Falmer eyes! Just one pair, nothing terribly alarming, their inky blackness illuminated by several moving âstarsâ that never seemed to stand still, âShuddup! âm tryinâ to sleep!â A drawl voice accompanied the eyes and quickly hissed again, âAnâ turn that fuckinâ light off before I turn yer lights off!â
The voice startled her at first, but then the realization of what the voice had said set in. A little offended, Lorelei huffed to herself about rudeness and clapped the light between her hands forcefully, effectively ridding herself of it.Â
She lowered her voice, almost whispering. âBetter?â She tried to keep the snarkiness from her tone, and managed to do so, mostly. She couldnât see much in the dark (Especially after having her eyes adjust to the light momentarily) but the sight of star-speckled eyes was intriguing to her. She disliked being a pest, but she wasnât to make the trip home and then come back another day.Â
She picked up her voice, whispering once more. âHey, who are you?â

âOf course you can walk with me. Itâs not safe to travel alone at this hour. You never know what kind of creatures or people youâll run into.â
She smiled warmly.
âIâm assuming you were headed to the Imperial City? Thatâs where this road leads.â
She was thankful that sheâd found someone to walk beside, especially someone friendly. She felt safer, as people usually only attack or rob those whoâre alone.
Lorelei thought for a moment. âUm...â She pulled a small map from her pocket and looked it over, then replied. âYes! Iâve never really been to Cyrodiil, so itâs kind of hard to keep to where Iâm headed.â
