“Oho, kids and their new terms.”
ainohashira:
♥ The woman’s three braids danced from side to side upon hearing him speak her name. She’d been forced to quickly come to terms with the fact that she may never hear his voice again, let alone Shinobu, Genya, and the others that had been lost in the final battle. “Alright. You’ll want to be careful Oyakata-sama, the path here hasn’t been completely shoveled and there are some patches of ice.” She helped guide him before taking the time to address his own comments, hand held gently to keep him from danger.
“I was lost too! For a really long time! I actually don’t really know much outside of the main streets… The city is so big, but there’s all kinds of ways you can get around!” Mitsuri spoke enthusiastically. Spirale really was amazing when compared to any town back home. “But I finally met some people that were willing to help me out, so it’s been a little easier. How have you been getting around without your daught– Erm… without aides?” The daughters had died in the explosion too, hadn’t they?
“Thank you.” His steps were slower, and despite her gentle grasp there were moments where his own grip tightened on her, followed be gentle apologies for squeezing her or almost slipping.
Truly, he would be a burden on her and Giyuu here.
“You can say their names.” A gentle smile was on his features. “Or daughters, if you would prefer. Please be free with your speech, particularly in a place like this.” It was large, and he was nobody of import here aside from a select few. If his children were simply allowed to live here, free from their burdens, then...
“I am glad you have met those willing to help you. Although I do not find myself surprised others would be drawn to you. It has been quite difficult, but I have been able to find a hand to hold more often than not.”
mizukata:
From afar he thought he saw a familiar silhouette, familiar enough to make him fear. Multiple thoughts of the things that could happen if that person was actually here, he wasn’t proud of the way he was now, and he wasn’t really sure of what happened to him either. As he walked towards the man, he wished his assumption would be wrong, he doubted he could provide the safeness and assurance that person deserves, if it’s truly him.
When he’s able to meet him face to face, the moment the other speaks makes his fears vanish in an instant, it was the same soothing voice that had been with during him all those years, always offering support and comfort, and it was now asking for his assistance. ❝ Yes.❞ He answers, hoping he wouldn’t be recognized.
“Giyuu.” Fondness, familiarity, and relief washed over him, despite his features not changing. His voice relayed as much of it as he could. Any hopes Giyuu had would be dashed within the moment as the blind man recognized his voice. So quickly, so readily. As quiet as Giyuu was, he had heard him talk enough to know who he was the moment he spoke one syllable.
“It is you, is it not?” An arm was grasped, squeezed tightly. “I am more than glad that you are here, Giyuu. I cannot possible express how relieved I am that you are safe. And, perhaps selfishly, that you are my guide for the moment.”

As a potential future pillar, Kanao had wanted to live up to those expectations. If she were to fill the shoes of her sisters, she’d want to be able to do so with pride and confidence. After all, everything she had learned was in part of their upbringing. The Lake of the Koi held a peaceful aura to it– The sound of splashing water echoed in the vicinity. She had been there to train alone. However, Kanao’s sharp vision caught the attention of a familiar sight.
The girl knew of him. She knew to treat him with respect, and such she would. She bowed upon approaching him, letting her hands rest in front of her: “It is nice to see you in good health.” Propping herself back up, her facial expressions etched her seriousness: “My sisters often talked about you. They did so commonly in the Butterfly Estate. Words of praise.” She, too, had hopes of being a pillar. She would never wish to replace her sisters, but if the need had arose, she wanted to continue what they would have wanted.
The fabric shifted, the sound of a bow, and her voice reached his ears. For a moment, seconds, he shifted his vision into the future. And there she was, clearly speaking to him. Her stance demure. Stoic, but kind. She was the youngest of the three sisters. She would hopefully never be a Pillar, but as it stood right now.
“And you are Kanao.” A gentle laugh came from him as he sat by the lakeside. Weary legs needing a rest. “I hear much and more of you as well. Words of praise.”
Gesturing beside him, he pat the ground. “Please, sit. I imagine the koi are quite beautiful. As for me, I find the sound of the lake itself soothing. The sound of life.”
yurusarenai:
ah, how the tragedy in his voice seizes tanjiro’s heart. It shreds him up inside, knowing that ever since he passed, so many others have as well. Chaotic memories threaten to surface, but he subdues them, or rather… finds them subdued. It is difficult to feel agonized in his presence.
“Ubuyashiki-san, then. When everyone is reunited, I will join them in calling out your name.” It cannot be forgotten, after all. Titles like that are the gifted crowns of tremendous respect. For now, he’ll provide an arm for support, and from there, they’ll navigate the less-clustered areas until they find themselves in Fox Village.
There, he’ll usher his company onto a nearby stone hedge to sit upon. “I’ve brought you to Cotes. Here, there are a lot of bamboo coves, and foxes that can walk on twos and speak our tongue.” Of all the things he’s seen, they’re still pretty amazing. “Before we start, can I get you tea? Or a snack? I can trade with the foxes.”
“I look forward to that day, Tanjirou.” His voice was clear and honest as he followed his newfound guide to a seat. Legs shaking every so slightly, he was able to settle them down. Muscle aches, fatigue, they were daily. But thus far, his explorations had found many of his children, and so he must continue his daily walks lest they never find him.
“Thank you for finding a place for me to rest. My legs were simply close to giving out on me. When you found me, I was searching for a storefront with which I may rest. But you are both considerate and resourceful, of course.” So he probably noticed. Tanjirou was one of the few who were not Pillars to have met him personally. He likely had seen that Kagaya could not stand for very long, and had been supported by his daughters when walking.
“Tea would be wonderful. Ah, a moment...” Reaching into his haori, he pulled out a crow’s feather. “Perhaps this will be useful in your barter? I only have one, but please, use it to obtain food for yourself.”
cutwarmth:
Huh. He looked like he could easily have stepped out of the same time and world as Rui had, but for some reason the noise didn’t bother him? Rui’s head tilted, his brows furrowing in light thought. Maybe he’d lived closer to a city… the noise would be much closer, then, than it would be to a mountain. Even after a few months, Rui was still much more used to the sounds of nature than he was to traffic.
“The celebration…” Oh, that made sense, didn’t it. Instinctively he gave a little shake of his head that he realized no doubt wouldn’t be seen, following up after a moment with a, “No.”
“I’d be here at this hour regardless.”
But he didn’t elaborate. He didn’t want to. He could have given some excuse like he’d done with Tsuru, explained that his sleep schedule was awful, or made up some lie – but he didn’t care enough. He left it at what little he’d said, clearly not wanting to say anything further. Whoever this was… he didn’t look to be armed. And – he didn’t have one of those uniforms. Couldn’t be a slayer. Even if it was strange for someone as young as he was to be out so late, even if this wasn’t a slayer… Rui still didn’t like having to explain.
“… I guess. I can be.” It wasn’t as if he had anything else to do, and this man seemed nice enough. Minus the discomfort in Rui’s chest that he still couldn’t explain, at least, and much as he was loath to admit it he was still desperate for any gentle hand to reach his way. He forced himself to step a little closer again, reaching a hand out to give a little tug to the man’s sleeve so he’d know Rui was nearby now. “I’m not very talkative company, though. If that’s alright.”
“How wonderful. That children can be out at night, enjoying festivals and the stars above.” He felt the tug on his haori, and reached over to the other, finding a hand and grasping it lightly. Gently, for he could not grasp anything tightly nor would he want the child to feel trapped. So gentle that Rui could simply pull away with a swift motion. But as it was offered, Kagaya was in no position to refuse.
“If you wish to go home, you need only let me know.” Even without his abilities, none could deny the aura of his words, his motions. Quiet, softspoken, slow. He was used to the quiet ones. Admittedly, many of his children were quiet. In need of a hand to reach out to them. Soothing words to be spoken. Their grief to be heard. So many of his children came to the Slayers Corps because they were hurt.
“You do not need to speak. Silence need not be filled when it is already full of company.” He began to walk. Slowly on the snowy walkway but with more confidence now that he had eyes to aid him.
Give my regards to Tamayo-san.
@wisterieyed
♥ Fingers reached out but fell flat as she reconsidered her approach in this encounter. A familiar back, one she had seen time and time again. One that had given her a place to belong after feeling like an outsider her entire life. One that was, to her knowledge, no longer with them back home. But thanks to appearances to others that had passed she knew that this realm cared little for who should or shouldn’t be alive.
“Oyakata-sama! Would you like me to help guide you down this snowy path?” finally working up the courage, she sprinted to his side and gently took his hand with her own. It was strange to see him without his guides, but she supposed they just weren’t here.
He had not heard her approach, even with the snow falling around him. Too much focus on his own footing, precarious as it could be. How the cold stung him but how he could not bear to be in his unfamiliar house longer than necessary.
She was welcome, and the smile that followed the surprise showed a palpable joy at her presence. “Mitsuri.” Her name was spoke with familiarly as he placed his free hand over her’s, squeezing gently before returning it to his side, letting her hold his for support.
“I am glad to know that many of my children seem to be here with me. I find myself far more lost than I prefer to admit.” A chuckle as he used her for support, steps careful. “You sound well, Mitsuri. I am glad. Are you faring well here?”

⚡ That came unexpected. Zenitsu stares at the other wide-eyed. Someone that knows his master? Someone that comes from the same Japan he knows?
“You— you knew my master, Jigoro Kuwajima?” It is now on him to think, who this man could be. But, he isn’t sure. A lot of thoughts go around in his mind now, they’re all unsorted and random. Emotions are boiling up about his new-found home the Demon Slayers have become to him over the roughly past two years, if counting his training as well.
“I’m sorry. Can you tell me your name?”
The sadness in the boys voice was palpable. And the surprise. It must be shocking to have someone from your own world. And someone who knew your deceased grandfather. Jigoro’s death weighed upon his soul every day, as with the deaths of every other Slayer. Former or otherwise.
“I am Ubuyashiki Kagaya. Or Oyakata-sama, as my Pillars prefer to call me. You may regard me either way.” A gentle smile was offered indicating there was no harm done by the boy. “Jigoro always spoke highly of you.”
“Forgive my rudeness in this matter. We have yet to meet, and I am speaking of your master as though we are personally familiar. Although I can say I know a great deal of you, Zenitsu.”

“Tanjirou?” It was so strange to be the one calling out to another. But fully blind as he was, in every way, he could only really find himself grasping for haori and waiting for anyone else to find him.
Or, rather, his haori was grasped and he turned to where the voice had come from. The crowd was still swirling around them, but he focused his gaze entirely on Tanjirou. The nervousness in his voice is palpable, and it worried Kagaya.
“Please, either would be fine here, Tanjirou.” His smile is gentle, forgiving, “Whichever would make you most comfortable. It is difficult to be Oyakata-sama when so many of my children are absent.” There was a sad tinge to it, although his expression remained unchanged.
“Should we move somewhere with less people, Tanjirou? I am happy you are here, and would enjoy hearing from you.”
We have some really nice weather today. Is the sky blue?
@deceptionarts
A demon walking by, but not a vicious one. At least he will not be vicious now, nor will be be vicious toward him. There will be a time and place where Yushiro will become vicious, and it will be in the favor of his children.
But the simple act of walking will occur soon, and therefore Kagaya waits patiently with his hands folded neatly in his lap.
The next set of footsteps he hears - and there had been nobody else - must be the demon. Unless he decided to take an alternate route.
“Yushiro?”
“We have not met directly, but I know your Lady Tamayo, and I know of you.”
cutwarmth:
“Oh.”
Given his tendency to get lost in his own thoughts, it was still a surprise for Rui any time he was drawn out of those thoughts by someone talking to him. He still… wasn’t used to that, to being approached, but given how he’d walked so close to whoever this was it made sense that they might ask him.
“There’s…”
What was it called, again…
“W…Winter…FES. December started and so did all manner of activities.” And – oh, if he thought about what date it was. “I think it’s a holiday today, too. Or… nearly. Christmas. Everybody… seems happy about it.”
Rui turned his head to get a proper look at whoever had spoken to him, only to have approximately none of his questions answered. Some part of him seemed to instinctively act like he should know something, like he should be aware of who this man was, but nothing came to mind, like that part of Rui (if it even was a part of him) was dormant and locked away by the city.
He… took a step back to try to calm the discomfort in his chest, regardless.
“Did you just get here?” There had been an eclipse recently… “You should get yourself used to the noise as soon as possible, if you did. It doesn’t really go away.”
“FES...?” It was his turn to trail off. He could use his sight, but for now he would rest until he felt it was going to be more useful. There did not seem to be any danger coming from the other, and the child (by the voice, he presumed it was a child) was being pleasant enough.
“The noise does not bother me.” A soft smile graced his features as he folded his hands. “It is almost pleasant to hear so much happening at such a late hour. I imagine the celebration is why you’re out so late as well.” It was nice that children could be out at night in this city without fear. It had only been a few days for him, and it was nice to be out for him as well.
He was not fully comfortable, restricted as he was, but he was here. Without his support system, without any form of sight. Without even an arm to grasp for support.
“Are you headed to the festivities now?” His expression and voice were gentle.
“Would you like company? It is a selfish request, as I cannot go by myself, but if you were lacking for company it could be nice for both of us.”
donneratem:
⚡ Zenitsu is quick to startle over getting approached suddenly. But not this time. He can’t really explain why, but there is something soothing about this man. A little bit creepy too, but he has grow enough over the last months to not freak out over a sickly man. Who seems to be blind, at that.
“Yes. My gramps— I mean, my master gifted me this haori. It has the same triangle pattern as his one had, and—” He pauses to swallow down the sadness overcoming him. ”—it is very important to me.”
A triangle pattern.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to see beyond anything else. It felt a bit much to presume, but he wondered. If Giyuu were here, then it would have to be.
“Ah,” a hand clutched at his heart. He had heard about Jigoro Kuwajima, and if there were a haori that came to mind, passed down to students from master, something that would cause the sadness in this boy’s voice.
“You are Jigoro’s student.” A warm smile crossed his features. A student of Jigoro’s that would not strike him down on sight, and instead take the time to speak to him...
“Zenitsu.” It must be this boy, there was no other. The way he jumped upon being approached. They had never formally met, but he was familiar with all of them in some way or another. This one he was familiar with by another sight. And by description.
